Installed a quad sync monitor in the cabinet for 720p/1080i compatibility (but that farks up the aspect ratio do I usually stick to 480p).

Got it from www.trademe.co.nz for $70 NZD, local auction site, and he even chucked in a ide wireless wifi card which I needed as well! It was a HD CRT tv imported from china (one of the last known countries to still produce CRTs) and it uses a LG/Phillips tube (what I read on the label as I decased it) and the chassis is heavy and densely populate. Its a “Skyworth” brand and I can not find anywhere else that stocks it. I played around with its resolution today and I can get quite high resolutions through the VGA port as long as its 60hz. It can be used in the vertical or horizontal position just like a regular CRT monitor (but you can also watch TV on it too if you wish ) Absolutely no burn ins and the colour is vibrant and crisp (same goes for all my monitors in the cabs!) I am a bit OCD over electronics especially if the core function is compromised…
Very nice score, Rugdoctor. I wish I had a shed like yours so I could go looking for cheap CRT’s. I have a rather obvious BATTLE GAREGGA burn in one of my MS9’s. I’d rather keep the chassis though (gotta love that NANAO low res, and matching a tube to it is a bit too scientific. For me at least.

Man, I really need another cab for shmups. I got instructions on tating my Naomi but I can’t bring myself to do it. I play beat em ups and fighters on occasion.
shmup demands tate thats all I can say…unfortunately its one of those things which is always on the backburner especially you like playing horizontal games.
I originally had a decased RGB/SCART 15khz sony trinitron fitted in the naomi (the bezel can not fit but the monitor fitted fine, so I had to homemade the bezel)
and after receiving my astro city, I decided to decase my hd crt and put that into the naomi.

Nac after (retrofit with trinitron by “reverse fitting” the monitor to the bracket to accomodate the curvature of the monitor) and also some panel work:
Its a flat screen so the bezel fitted fine. I stuck to the tate configuration because most cave games and other shmup companies are converting/making titles for the 360 and with the vga input its easy to bridge a slg3000 inbetween the console and TV for scanline goodness (if it is warranted). At the end of the day, made the naomi to be a true HD cabinet and bring the nac back to 15khz goodness.
Also thinking hard about converting the naomi to a sit down cab as well just to keep everthing consistent, but the thought of not having any spares if I stuff up scares me.
Keep it horizontal until you get another cab, because you can play vertical games and horizontal, but only play vertical on tates…thats what I did.
id like a blast but if not ill use them like better versions of the hss-0130 i may just make a base for them
the guy selling the bass fishing cabs said its 500 to ship so that would mean 1200 for it shipped if i spent that much id want it to be ready to play once i unbox it
Definitely…serious coins there, unless it comes with a gameboard which you can sell to offset. I wont be surprise if you can fit a netbook into one of those and make it a mame ready box! Or even make a jamma supergun??
ha maybe its the same size as a hss-0130 that u have on ur cab but heavier but i can def make it a super gun but gon;t really need 1 of those
Sell the super gun and put money towards the cab! People outside of Japan will pay good money for a clean mod.
