The Official Post your Arcade Cabinet Thread!

I haven’t, but I did look it up. Seems promising. I couldn’t understand what the deal with the control setup is (looks like nothing is in place to handle controls natively), but I like everything else. I have an SCART cable for Dreamcast, but not idea where to get one for other consoles. Do you use this on any of your cabs?

I want to play. Here’s some more lulz for the thread.

^

btw this dude here is selling a sega astro city cabinet for $200 WITH a 29" vga monitor installed(xbox360 n dreamcast eZ). location highland park CA

I dunno if people can see the thread if not registered.

Got me an Astro City cab for $100

No PCBs in it and not sure if the monitor works or not. When I power it on I hear some static discharge so won’t know till the weekend or next week. Also have the missing door not shown in the picture but will be needing a upper right door as the previous operator cut a hole out for a bill acceptor.

The Jamma harness and other wires look like they are intact, going to take the JPAC and ArcadeVGA out of my Dynamo HS2 SFIICE cab and see if this monitor works on the Astro City. I hope it does cause that would be a huge bonus!

Anyone know a good source for a replacement control panel, coin acceptor on the top, upper right door? Want to restore this back to it’s former glory over the summer.

Nice man. Fingers crossed on the monitor working out for you

Wow $200, $100 astro, uhh i feel like i overpaid again…

In an effort to keep this thread on topic. I present my latest project.

I just wanted to build a quick and dirty Vewlix-ish cab. I spent more time on the paint then any thing else. I took quite of few pictures of the build, but there are so many cab work-logs already, I don’t know if I should even bother starting a thread for it.

Man, that’s nice. I wish I had the resources/know-how to build something like that. I can do wiring and small mods, but building anything from scratch is something beyond me.

I’m jealous of all of your candy cabs! I just made my first foray into collecting with one of my old favorite games, which I got for a mere $100. The case needs a bit of love, but after a few reconnected wires and a replaced micro-switch, it runs great! My biggest problem has been finding a replacement control panel overlay. Any suggestions?

edit: I apologize for the terrible photo. I can put a better one (or more) up in a few days if anyone wants a better look at it.

It was just alot of work and resources, Anyone wanna buy a jpac and a arcade vga? lol

It’s not a door handle, d3v, it’s a lock bar. There’s no lock in the coin door tumbler, so somewhere along the line they drilled a hole on both sides of the door, put a eye hook bolt in each and ran a steel bar over it to keep it from opening.

I plan on getting a new lock for the door and removing the bar entirely.

Please start the thread, I would love to see the schematics on that build, it looks very clean and most of all very small. It looks like the controller platform folds up too, correct me if I’m looking too deeply into it.

im going to make a youtube video of my setup very soon

ive got 2 new astros and a new net city

vamp sav, ST, and mvc2 (cvs2 pending) respectively

You have my utmost respect, sir.

THPS2X is godlike.

What’s even better is that I’m not trolling. I’ve spent several hours playing it on the cab. It works great on the 360 via backwards compatibility. The other titles reportedly have issues. I easily logged hundreds of hours on these back in the day on the PSX/Dreamcast. The Xbox1 version is my favorite though. It’s just so damn pretty!

Ah, the days when Tony Hawk’s name on the box guaranteed a quality game.

Yeah, it’s a shame. The American Wasteland 360 port was one of the reasons that originally swayed me to the 360. Too bad it’s gone all to hell since then. I’d highly recommend anyone with a 360 pick up 2X. It makes me all gushy nostalgic.

IMO, anyone with a console that has THPS2 should pick up THPS2.
