Play higher tables.
I pretty much only play sngs now, but I’ll never play less than $50 cause it’s a different style of play; people are dumb.

i was after the money that was already in the pot. this was very late in the tournament and i chose to go for a stop and go. imo, he can’t call my bet. furthermore, he should have raised all in preflop and i wouldn’t call. when he called my all in on the flop it was his mistake, and until the 5 hit i was going to pay for it. i was not looking for a call!

hey n-ken, what are your mtt cashes so far? i’m not trying to judge your credentials i’m just honestly interested.

also shady that’s a bad example because he thought you were bluffing and he was relying soley upon his fold equity. unfortunately for him you had the goods, he just sucked out. no justice there.

how can he “not” call your bet?

He has you beat on SO many levels and guranteed even if he doesn that he has overcards.

any wired pair 8 and above would probably call you including AK.

The odds of you having a Queen are very slim and he probably knew that hense the reason he made the right call. Face it. You made a retarded play and got extremely lucky.

The more dead money in the pot, the more inclined he is to make the call. Perhaps he knew you were gonna try and move in with anything, but if theres a lot of dead money in the pot, he HAS to make the call. Show us the hand history.

As for partypoker, i tried it out and it’s not as soft as everyone is saying. Maybe I chose some bad tables, but I know that FCP aka pokerroom has a lot softer tables for 2-4 and 3-6, with people check raising and then calling with 8 high.

Viscant, anything on that 100k guy? I finally hit a roll of 3k but if it’s just random bonus whoring I’d rather just try my shot at 5-10.

for sure, i know thats my problem, i was playing too low buy-ins…my buddy picked up 1500 in a tourny on pp, and started playing the 100 dollar sit and goes, he said its a whole different world…i just don’t have the money right now to stake it…

ok that’s where we disagree. i figured him to have a pp over my 5s or ak. i don’t think he would call with those hands. i’ll see what i can do about the hand history, i emailed it to myself the other day but got no confirmation that it was sent.

by the way if i don’t move in there i’m crippled and i won’t make the final table, that also was a factor in the decision.

The point is you made a bad play and sucked out huge. The only reason I was angry in my post is because so many times I’ve been the person making the right call and someone hits their miracle 2 outer.

i agree heavily with this post

Just because it was necessary for your survival doesn’t make it any better.
And I tryied play the $50 sng’s on titan earlier, easiest ever. But the blinds structure is tough.
I was trying to win the 6 sngs in a row for the fort knox shit, but i got 2nd in my 5the one.
fack…

Still up almost 1k today though.
back to playing.

yes it does opticallyinviz. this hand happened during the last pay ladder rung before the final table. either i bust here or bust later when i check/fold this hand.

also krasshole to be honest i don’t really like you so i’m going to ignore you for the duration of this thread. i’d appreciate if you could ignore me too.

you just have to have the heart of the cards like yugioh!

don’t really know what that means, i don’t watch that show.

OH NOES!!!

Oceans Eleven seems to be the new place to be for live poker in the area. I was at an absolutely INSANE table when I went on Wednesday. Even though the buy in at the 1/2 NL table was a max of $80, when I showed up there was already someone with a stack of over $1000. And the play was just beyond godawful.

Also I have a question regarding live straddles. Do they play as a blind or just as a raise in the dark. Because I was under the impression that they were just a raise in the dark, but at OE a couple days ago they were treating them as a blind. Here’s an example.

Maniac (with about $400 in front of him) a few seats away from me posts a live straddle of $6 UTG. A few calls. Guy to my left (with about $800 in front of him now) calls. Action back to maniac, who raises his straddle to $26. All previous callers call (since maniac’s raises don’t mean anything). Guy to my left goes all in and maniac calls without thinking about it. Everyone else bails.
Guy to my left flips over…79s
Maniac flips over…66
Monster hands here. Flop comes down 33K. Turn 7. River 7.
Oh. The. Humanity.

So yeah, I assume you guys play live more often than I do. Is this legal? Or did the dealer just have a brain fart here.

yes they are live blinds. if the guy announces straddle when it comes back to him he can raise. the straddle acts as a new BB. very clever move by the maniac however, lots of money in that pot and 79s is a good hand to suck out with lol.

i’m confused by the term ‘straddle’ - please explain

my friend plays at OE almost everyday, he’s super aggresive, playing ALOT of hands, i think he buonces back and forth on his bank role, but whenever he plays a real hand, he get fucked by some runner, runner suck out…

i thought straddles is just a raise in the dark. from my experiences, a guy straddles and everybody calls, the straddler has no option. i don’t get it =|

straddles are gay imo. Should only be used to create action on a dead game. I don’t allow em at my weekly home game. 1/2 raise to 50 reraise 250 is good enough action for me.

a straddle is a bet placed by the utg player in the dark. it acts as the new bb. in viscant’s example he was playing 1/2 NL and the straddler raised the bb to 6. to see a flop everyone has to call 6 dollars. most places i’m familiar with treat the straddler as a new live bb, so yes he can reraise when it comes back to him. i agree it is gay it just creates action. when someone straddles they feel like gambling so play your hand accordingly.

No if they raise in the dark and everyone calls they do not have the option of Re-reaising. Thats the dumbest shit i ever heard.
