If it’s anything like the Indian casino nearest me (which is still too far), I’d say 15 minutes per level. I think the problem is that they double the limit right off the bat, and the limit starts fairly high to begin with, or at least that’s what I dealt with when I did my first live tourney.
i think its every 12 minutes, but with the slow ass new players at viejas, thats less than one time around the table, i was blinded into my whole stack within my first 10 hands…and like i said, i even doubled up on a hand…
yea that’s gay. at the turning stone casino in upstate new york there’s a $77 buy in tournament and you get 2k chips but you can add on 500 chips for some outrageous amount like $50 or something.
You can’t go to a Viejas tournament as an alternate. If you’re an alternate, just leave. Viejas is decent for a low buy-in tournament at least the best in the area for an under $20 tournament. Starts at 25/50, moves up every 15 minutes. For a 1500 (+500 addon) stack, that’s not too bad.
The only real problem with the Viejas setup is going from 200/400 blinds to 500/1000. No matter how big your stack is, you will never be in a comfortable position as far as Harrington’s M goes. Even a monster stack will have his M in moderate danger. The way to play these is to play like Harrington suggests in HoH v.2. You’re going to have to take some pretty crazy chances or get slapped in the face by the deck.
Of course the real way to play these is to not enter, reserve a chair at the NL $300 buyin table and just wait for the tilters to “try and make their money back”. I think 4 of my 5 biggest live wins have been at those tables from complete idiots. Good times, definitely good times. I’ll occasionally enter at Viejas for the fun of being a maniac, but Sycuan isn’t even worth it. Just play cash games.

Speaking of Viejas tournaments, since my internet is basically in the toilet, I have nothing better to do so I’ll go tomorrow morning and play some cash games. These are usually pretty good days. If anyone’s in the area and bored, drop by.

yeah, that jump to 500/1000 is fucking insane. i had a LARGE stack 2 weeks ago and that shit ate me up. i still made 7th place, but i got so burned last week, its gonna be hard for me to go back. i live in rancho bernardo, so viejas is a drive for me, and without a licence, its very hard to get out there. i’m going to check out the cash games at harrah’s roncon. with my bills and everything right now, i can’t stake the 300 buy-in ur talking about. i watched this dude pick up like 1300 at one of their nl games. the person in position before him just kept re-buying in for 100, 200 - it was insane. i just watched him go all in on such marginal hands, and he wasn’t even playing em correctly to buy the pot. not as bad as this guy in the tourny tho. omg, he kept calling all ins with NOTHING. i mean, buying a pot is one thing, calling someone’s all in 3 times in a row without even a pair is just tourny suicide…
BTW, thanks for the reply on myspace! very helpful
WHen are u guys gonna play at the casinos? my buddy and i wants to play with u guys.
someone come rail me at the stars 3+rebuys tournament. it’s my first real MTT and i’m 21/31 in chips out of 1800 started. a few hands ago i had to push with 107s and i pushed into queens but flopped trips. crazy.
I’d love to, but…
hm, that’s gay. well i just finished it up. i got 8th for 400 something profit.
i lost two big pots within the first few minutes of the FT. i was trying to bully a short stack and got committed to call his all in. i was 2:1 dog i think so it was fine anyway. next one i raise preflop and donk off a big part of my stack by calling all in with AQo. lost that to AKo. i shouldn’t have called but i did cause i’m hella tired been playing for many hours.
hm, some other highlights are making a guy fold a set and nut flush draw cause he thought i had top boat. i had some shitty mid pair or something that goes to show you got to be aggressive in NL, i thought he had top pair and he’d have to fold but i didn’t know the extent of his laydown. also called or moved all in with suited connectors when my stack was low and won.
omg, i stopped and goed with pocket fives once out of position! there was enough dead money in the pot where i figured that the guy would lay down whatever he had and i’d still show profit because someone else was all in and there was a big sidepot to be won if i got the other guy to fold.
also stopped and goed with 5s on a Q42 flop. guy calls with JJ. i don’t think he can call that imo. very rarely can he call that. but i turn a 5 and justice is served.
Yeah, I stayed and watched. Good show peacing out all them peeps, 8th isn’t half bad. Nice payoff. That bluff with the 24 suited was gold.
party poker = suck out central…i have lost to more suckouts than i can count. i promised myself i wouldn’t put anymore money on my account, but then that poker bug gets in me and i do. i know that if i stick to my guns and play smart, in the long run, i’ll make money, but i can’t help getting frutrated at the odds against these ass holes who beat me. now, irl i have this problem alot less. i mean a suck out is a suck out, its gonna happen, but some of the shit people call large all-ins with is beyonfdme. i don’t think gus hansen plays with some of these hands…but all in all, thats poker.
Just play nice hands, party is a very very very soft site.
Great site to get rich on.
ty for the support. yes, in NL you have to have heart and not blink when pushing in your chips on a bluff. it doesn’t matter what you have as long as you can get your opponent to fold his hand.
That’s not justice. He called you out and you sucked out huge.
Damn right.
You think thats justice?? I wonder how retards are allowed to play at final tables.
wtf thats the stupidest thing Ive ever heard. You made a moronic move and got called with it. You’re only called if your badly beaten here, wtf how is that justice.
Apparently this is justice

i do. i’m a pretty smart, conservative player. i play alot of premium hands unless i know i can pick something up with a bluff. recently i lost alot of money on suckouts. we’re talking 2 cards needed to a straight and calling a large raise with against my solid set…i flopped trip aces last night(2 in hand) went all in to protect my shit, and a dude called me with 2 cards needed for a flush and no pair on the board. now, i know this shit is gonna happen, thats life, but after losing a large sum to the same dumbfuck plays, you get annoyed…
