Yeah I was gonna say Slowbro/King all day as well. Anyways finally got the game just now.
I’m in the 3rd gym. I my team right now consists of the 3 starters, Drillbur (adamant female on my 2rd try ), and Timburr. Any suggestions for pokemon I should be on the look out for? I read on here about Darumaka which should be coming up soon, and Joltik with compoundeyes sounds beastly. anything else though?
darumaka is redundant with the fire starter for the most part.
I really like Sigilyph
Exadrill sadly isn’t going to be as good competitively as he would ingame. Despite the Steel typing he has rather average defenses, and his weaknesses to fighting, fire, water, ground are exceptionally common metagame. He may very well be suspect for UU, but you still might see a few in the OU environment due to the electric immunity.
@bastos keep an eye out for Yamask, I got lucky and caught an calm natured one on my first go. Cofagrigus and Gigalith are up there as the games best tanks, but cofagus is more fun to use.
wtg! :woot:
I look forward to catching and raising a Cofagrigus. That thing looks so cool!
k I spent TWO HOURS trying to catch Throh last night. Believe it or not, I caught Sawk before Throh in the second patch of shaking grass I saw (I have Pokemon White). One, I can’t believe I caught Sawk so quickly, and two I can’t believe it took over two hours for me to find one Throh! I’m loving Sawk because of that sweet BASE ATK. I think I’ll use it for the main game, but will use Throh and the other Fighting-Types post Elite-4.
Fuck it, I can’t call them Throh and Sawk. Their English names are horrible! They’ll always be Nageki and Dageki to me. :xeye:
got my first shiny in pkmn black… a basculin. I can hardly tell it is shiny though. you have to do a side-by-side comparison. if it wasn’t for the sparkles at the beginning, i wouldn’t have known.
Me neither, this is one fo the few times where Nintendo could’ve actually kept the Japanese names and no one would question it.
adamant darumaka is very powerful, glad I caught so many with one ending up adamant. Was thrash ever 120 base power? I recall it being 90, but I’ll take it! :3
thanks for the tips. I have a roggenrolla and an impish yamask, but I never even thought to look at them. will check them out more for sure though.
yeah I found a sawk quickly too (too bad it was a bashful nature), but I haven’t seen a throh yet. Probably gonna go back and try to catch one.
wow. how long does it take you to soft reset for good ivs? (edit: n/m saw you got that on your first try. damn.) after a few hours i just settle for 30-31 a few stats.
that’s great shiny collection too. i’ve been pretty lucky with shinies as well. slowpoke, cacturne kriketune, meowth, tangela, mewtwo (soft reset for almost a whole day for this in leaf green), psyduck, parasect, zigzagoon, and that fish from B/W.
Jolly Krokorok is the scariest thing in life. Paired with Bulldoze it outspeeds a shitload of things in-game.
Caught that Jolly Sandile my first attempt too. I’ve gotten lucky with Natures this far. Only took one reset to get my Modest Oshawott and Pansage. Took two or three to get my Hasty Joltik.
I’m a beginner, Sorry, I do not understand your meaning, Can you explain it more clearly?
Why hasty Joltik? Wouldn’t you want Modest or Timid?
No I wanted Hasty so I got Hasty.
:china:
You’re quite observant. Until B/W, Thrash was at 90 BP.
Best of luck to you. If worse comes to worst I’ll trade you mine.
Hasty can be good for Sucker Punching things.
I’ve always been kind of unlucky with shinies. I’ve only gotten (without RNGing) Duskull, Mudkip, and Jigglypuff.
I do believe Thrash was 90 last gen. Not completely sure.
just got through the first time against Elite Four. That was probably the best ending/pokemon story of the series. Hopefully they keep it up.
Sorry if it was already discussed, but did anyone else feel that the music in this version has also been stepped up. Really enjoyed the music for rte 10 and Victory Rd.
I don’t like Sucker Punch on Galvantula because it does Jack shit for damage.
My Galvantula set is:
Thunder Wave
Thunder
Bug Buzz
Energy Ball
Thunder and Bug Buzz for STAB. Energy Ball for rock types. My Galvantula is hasty as well though. I tend to settle for Natures when I play through the game. I took a Lonely Drilbur when I couldn’t get Adamant. Before I got Mienshao, I had a Relaxed Scraggy. That motherfucker took hits like a boss. I wouldn’t have minded using Scrafty in the game, I just liked Mienshao better.
you could always rename the pokemon names you don’t like :333
Hassle. And then you gotta go to a renamer every time it evolves (not in this case, I know, but still…).
On a slight shift in topic, I’m so happy, as an obsessive compulsive, that after 4 generations, they finally realized they don’t have to CAPS LOCK DEFAULT NAMES. That shit’s bugged me for so long…
