The OFFICIAL Pokemon thread ver 2.5

Girlfriend and I just got our Liberty Passes. I may use him as a special sweeper.
Psychic/Fire Blast/Thunder/Focus Blast

Sheer Force applies to Dynamic punch as well. Too bad you’ll never hit anyone with it. Rock Slide basically becomes stone edge with 3 less power and double the PP. I still think Guts is better though. I’m going to breed a Growlithe with close combat for my black team. After all these years I’m FINALLY going to use Arcanine on an in-game team. I’m probably going to pick Oshawott again. I don’t like Tepig and Snivy is just god awful IMO.

Black Team is looking like:
Samurott
Arcanine
Briviary
Leavanny
Conkeldurr
Zoroark

I really like Leavanny’s stats and movepool for ingame.

Doujinshi: I’m starting your Rufflet now.

EDIT: Your egg is ready for you. Just post your details and we can get a trade going.

Leavanny’s a really cool pokemon, actually. It does very well ingame also. I like all of the Bug and Fighting types this gen. I’m taking it slow, training my Timburr and getting ready to head to Castelia and finally capture that darn Victini.

My ingame team will probably look like this:
Serperior
Excadrill
Conkeldurr
Darmanitan(probably will replace with Chandelure later)
Ranculus
Braviary

Definitely going to be doing multiple runs with different teams. Does anyone else have the OG Pokemon Theme playing in their head? It’s like its 1998 all over again for me, lol…

You can’t go wrong with Chandelure or Darmanitan. Chandelure is worth the heartache of raising a Litwick IMO. Litwick is not that bad to raise though. Being a Ghost type it is immune to anything a wild Audino can throw at it. You can also stall it out with will-o-wisp. So you can do flame burst and have the damage from will-o-wisp add up every turn.

Darmanitan is crazy good, I just don’t like the way it looks. That rape face is so creepy. I can’t wait to start Black with my close combat Growlithe! I’m also trading a Luxury Ball over so I can make Swadloon evolve faster.

guts is definitely the better ability for conkeldurr without a doubt. do you know how scary it is to have it absorb burns from dusknoir at 140 base attack? with max ev’s invested in attack and an adamant nature, conkeldurr reaches 414 attack. with guts activated, it reaches 621 attack. with guts and choice band, it reaches 931 attack. with guts and life orb it reaches 807 attack. as you can see when guts is activated in any situation or held item it will severely hurt anything, even if it’s resisted.

it’s not going to be easy to take it down as well, with 105/95 defenses either. will need a strong special attack to stop its madness.

is Pokesav still around? i don’t even have an AR but i was wondering if people still use it.

PokStation: Poksav Download Section - B/W version up there, but I haven’t used it yet to see if it’s been updated to match the English game, just that the menus and whatnot are English.

So I broke down and bought a DS + Black last night (one of those limited edition bundles), haven’t touched any Pokemon since like Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald.

Anything I should know about that’s majorly different? Is it still super important to restart until I get a female starter so I can breed starters? And is the only way to get pokemon from those games via an older DS with both slots, and a copy of Pearl/whatever names they have? I kind of miss the old school 150

nah ditto will breed with anything and gives you whatever you bred with it.

Compoundeyes Galvantula with Thunder is amazing. I could probably solo the rest of BW with it if I wanted to do so.

I caught my first legit shiny! Sandile in the desert–shocked I got one so soon!

I never had a shiny anything in my life bar Gyarados and the event beasts.

man…excadrill is so good…we’re going to be seeing a lot of those in competitive gaming. is there a legit counter for it yet? gliscor is the only one that comes out at the top of my head right now but i’m sure there are a few more

mienshao and other fighters can scare it away of course but i’m thinking more of something that can completely wall it and make it set up bait. like, dusknoir and cofagrious (i think) can burn it and make it useless but i’m looking for something more…

whats the best pokemon out there with the regenerator ability. solosis seems like hes awesome?

I’m like the Ash Ketchum of shinies, lol. I’ve gotten so many shinies in the last several years, Shinx, Muk, Ralts, Starly, Igglybuff, Charmander(fuck yeah!), Donphan, Rayquaza, Palkia, Cacturne, Machamp, and now Basculin and Pawniard from my Jap Cart. :coffee:

Finally got my Victini! Funnily enough, the first try was Modest with 28/28/31/31/29/29 for stats. Kinda wish that Defense was swapped with Speed, but I can live with it.

If only I was this lucky in real life, lol…

^geez man. i have yet to encounter a shiny pokemon. so lucky. what IV stat calculator do you use?

I just beat the Elite Four round 2. There’s nothing else left to do now but beat bonus boss and grind a little more.

The best Pokemon with regenrator is probably Mienshao. Reuniclus has a better ability in Magic Guard. Mienshao has U-turn+Regenerator. It makes me wish I caught one with regenerator. Inner Focus has saved me a few times in the game though.

I used Marriland’s Stat Calculator, so there could be a discrepancy of maybe 1-2 points, but it’s pretty hard to get a perfect reading at level 15 anyway. Even so, I’m satisfied with it. I can’t be arsed to do all that resetting and breeding these days.
I spent so much time breeding for perfection in Gen 3, that I almost missed my chance to play the metagame before 4th Gen. Ever since then, I decided to only focus on Nature/Moveset/Decent-but-not-crap Stats when catching/breeding.

It also helps that I have a lot of near-flawless specimens from my OCD days as genetic stock, lol…

Slowbro by far. That thing is a super tank!

I’ve always wanted a legit shiny Ralts, one of my favorite shiny colors.

Choice Band Azumarill can OHKO with aqua jet if you have rocks up. Anything with mach punch is great against him.

He’s not really wallable. If they predict the switch and Swords Dance you can flat out lose the game. Dusknoir(clops is better now with eviolite), and the mummy have one drawback, they don’t levitate, so even if Excadrill didn’t dance and just spammed equake, you are still getting 2hko’d possibly. Mummy will at least give Excadrill its crummy ability.

You can switch in on a quake if you have a balloon(now you are giving up better items), but if predicted he could have simply danced and now you are dealing with rockslide that is +2 might possibly flinch you, and then he’s going to equake you next turn killing you even if you do get the burn down. dance+WoW cancel each other out basically.

Also nothing saying he can’t just switch out to something that doesn’t mind being burned. He’s tough.
