longest battle I had? well it’s one of my vids I posted up on youtube. that damn cradily wouldn’t die! (and the vid is 7ish min sped up by 4 times) which was tied with a double team abuser from gamefaqs (never again)
I know I’ve had at least two battles that lasted over an hour. One of them even happened in doubles. I think it came down to 2 water Pokemon with Water Absorb, Rest, and no Thunderbolt…

Repetition is lame, yeah, but why would you want a starter to ever be mono-type? The only things that matter in the quest are power, speed, and type coverage. A 2nd STAB tends to help quite a bit on the 1st and 3rd points.
That’s the biggest reason I hate the 2nd gen starters. Every one of them is a mono-type. They’re outclassed by so much.

Fire itself is pretty weak defensively in pokemon, it really doesn’t need a dual type. Another fire/fighting type is bad though, why not fire/steel? Or something?

Yeah, I’d say Feraligatr is the only one of those 3 that has a good level-up movepool for the quest.
But why would you ever pick him as your dedicated water type when the Red Gyarados is just sitting there waiting for you?

I even prefer him to Blastoise and Swampert. Although my favourite water type is Vaporeon.

What’s funny is that people Feraligatr as the UU version of Gyarados. Oh well, its got some advantages like not being X4 electric
And IIRC, Stealth Rock gives it some major problems.
