I just did and got swept, fuuuuck. Skarmbliss/Swampert Phase Combo, Gengar finished me off :sad face:
Absolutely nothing went right for me that battle, I hate getting swept.
Pretty fun so far. The interface is a lot smoother than in D/P/Pt. Haven’t gotten a chance to use the Pokewalker yet (it took me all of five minutes to replace the original backing with the belt loop backing on it; don’t understand why it could just have that one right out the box).
Not at the point where I can use GTS yet, so I don’t have a friend code…yet.
I got a text saying my game came in, but I’m at work. I was hoping it came out like a normal game on Tuesday cuz I got Tuesday wednesdays off.
I want to see if I can go through the whole game with a nice well rounded fighting type team, but they all seem like physical sweepers. Unless I roll machamp or hariyamas. But sweeping works pretty good until battle tower.

Damn this is out already?? I don’t know why but I have the sudden urge to buy it despite not touching a pokemon game in years, let alone my DS in years. Probably because gold/silver where the best. Is there enough new content here to warrant a purchase? Is the pokewalker cool/add any new dimensions to gameplay?

Okay, I want to get into this because of my son. He likes to play, and this is kid friendly enough. What do I need to know about the new game? Can I really catch them all with my son?
I’d pick up HG & SS, let him choose which one of the two he wants, play the other, and trade the exclusive pokemon in each to one another.
If that’s your objective, best get both. It use to be that way for me, I’d get both just to catch em all but over the years I just play to play.
Really though, it takes a lot of work now to get all pokemon in one game now. You have to do lots trading, digging up info on rare encounters, etc.
I’m not sure if this is common knowledge, but don’t trade eggs from D/P/Pt (not sure about Platinum) to HG/SS. It resets their IVs (presumably), natures, shinyness, and whatnot when they hatch. I just traded over two eggs from Pearl that I RNGed (A shiny, Mild Cyndaquil and 31/31/31/10/31/31 Adamant/Guts Heracross) so my Silver trainer would be the original trainer. The weird thing about Cyndaquil was that it was still shiny in the hatching cutscene, but when I checked in the menu, it wasn’t shiny anymore and had a different nature. I traded Heracross back before it hatched, though, so I’m not sure if it affects non-shiny Pokemon.

marn, ev training + ability + nature is most important
and those you will need through breeding, so if you found a wild pokemon, dont worry about it
You can catch almost all the monsters between HG/SS but specifics such as event legendaries, sinoh starters, and sinoh legendaries have to be traded from d/p/pl. But just about everything is available through HG/SS.
And yea you really shouldnt start worrying about anything until end game, My in game team would never be my competitive team, because ev’s would be all outa wack.
I was wondering why the Heracross egg I traded from Platinum is Docile and not Adamant? Thanks for the info - I wish I’d seen this sooner. :tup:
So it looks like we can’t start off with the pokemon we actually want. For instance, I traded a Gabite Egg from D/P to P at the beginning of the P game and it hatched with correct IVs, nature, etc.
Man that sucks, I had a few pokemon in mind instead of just playing the usual starters. And obviously, I’m going to be reseting my game a lot for correct natures now.
