I’m guessing this is excluding starter pokemon.
I guess Staraptor becomes pretty good when he learns CC, followed up with something like Return. Lucario with his monstrous movepool seems pretty fit to sweep gyms, being part steel helps out also.
Gastrodon can do pretty well in-game also.

Funny thing is I never had a big problem with Garchomp compared to Specmence, but I don’t really care.
Mence is probably more of a threat now after platinum.

BTW , how many people online are sharking Pokemon now? Not just to get them to breed or collect but hacking their stats to get what Hidden Power/prefect stats they want? I mean breeding is tough but I hope everyone is not just doing that now and masquerading them as legal.
I still breed my shit out, though at this stage I’ve got a decent set of viable pokes to choose from. Still I really need to do something with my boxes full of half decent spitbacks.
I still breed everything myself, but I get sick of it pretty quickly. I’ve got about 50 pokemon with viable IVs…which sounds like a higher number than it really is, since a lot of them are the same species. 5 Tyranitars, 3 Gyaras, 3 Infernapes, 3 Absols, 3 Blisseys, 2 Tangrowths, etc.
They would test Stealth Rock before banning it, though I kinda doubt it’ll ever be banned…after all, it’s the only way to break everything’s sash, and makes quite a few extremely powerful pokemon easier to deal with…at the expense of neutering some weaker ones, unfortunately. Would be nice if it got nerfed a little in the next generation, and could only do 25% maximum.
Garchomp was more of a problem on Shoddy, where it was on nearly every fucking team as you get closer to the top of the ladder. It was just far too much of a dominant force, with that awesome STAB combination, Swords Dance, Sand Veil, electric immunity, unique speed tier, Stealth Rock resistance, high power, and higher defenses than friggin’ Swampert which allowed it to easily survive almost any Ice attack while holding a Yache berry. I still kinda miss him though, since he was on so many of my teams. Now I have to revamp them all.
Not that I can remember, it was mere talk from concerning people at the time. I think somebody brought it up and a huge discussion took over one of the tier update threads.
Ah I see, so it’s still theorymon. I thought Gamefreak might miraculously recognize the ridiculousness of the move and make it at least do less in Platinum but it’s sad to see that they don’t care about certain dual types being destroyed from birth.
It’s funny how people think that a lot of pokemon are learning Superpower now to balance T-tar but I don’t think Gamefreak has created ANY move tutor to help counter specific pokemon. They’re not that conscious nor do I think they care. (Arcanine doesn’t learn it but Flareon does…ok):rolleyes:
Now, I’ve thought it over and realized that on Shoddy, Stealth Rock’s absence wouldn’t make that big deal, considering most standards have a moveset prepared for Gyarados and friends (as well as HP Electric/Ice on anything that has Special or Mixed sets)
However, banning SR on WiFi would probably cause some problems since HP moves aren’t so common, unless I’m missing something in my months of absence?
as much as I hate to admit it I do have over half of my pkmn from hacks…in a perfect world, I wouldn’t have to and I’d have all the time to breed but I don’t and I loathe breeding for HP (oh god I cannot believe I would spend days trying to get that plus the right ability, AND the right nature! :mad: )
as I have said before I play for the battles not the breeding and to catch 'em all.

Scored Battle Revolution Today only to find that my R4 card wont work with it. Will ahve to dig around and find out where i left my legit copy of diamond now… sigh

I find battles here & here. I don’t know how it works for you because of your time zone, but people usually battle all day on those sites.
still checking out if any new updates have occurred…and OMG! as if my fave pkmn Steelix wasn’t any more great for getting Curse…AQUA TAIL!? and Magnet rise as well…Hmm so looks like Steelix can now avoid EQs and Aqua tail gives it something to hit enemy rock/ground/fire types on the switch!

It seems all electric and some steels get Magnet Rise.
Bounce is useless and easily telegraphed unless you’d waste a Power Herb to use it in 1 turn. Too much work for STAB.

yeah I had all of those except floatzel and heracross my first play through and the were all really good. I guess I should just do what I did last time. fish for a magikarp, catch a ghastly and abra, and a meditite… i dunno about getting heracross anytime soon. lol
