its a game for SOMEONE. that someone might be me, or it might not. but i’m more willing to take a risk at a game that is taking a risk as opposed to another cookie cutter game that doesn’t do much except try an emulate previous successes.
i will always try to jump on something attempting to do something different. innovation is important in the industry (even failed attempts) and most companies don’t have the balls to try something different. and catherine is… quite different. its the most appealing thing to me.
i could care less about funding another persona (though, a new dds might be interesting), but i think buying catherine on its own “potential” merits is worthwhile.
it might not be for you, but its not a game for NO ONE. it may falter in your eyes after playing it, but you never know until you try it out yourself.
The demo for Catherine reassured me on my decision to preorder the special edition of the game. As said above I love to support something that tries to be different rather than playing it safe and supporting the Persona team is another plus for me anyway.
I like the simple style puzzle gameplay, and if that’s wrapped by a story that’s at least competent I don’t like it’ll falter for me.
I think Catherine is like warmup excercise for the new consoles. They’ll use what they learned there when making Persona 5 or some new real Shin Megami Tensei game for PS360.
At least I want that to be true heh
They said they knew what game everyone was waiting for to be announced, and they said they would announce whatever game that might be after the release of Catherine. So, it’ll get its reveal at TGS most likely since that is the only japanese trade show, and Catherine was released in December.
Oh…blih vee uhn? What’s that? I just want something like Red Dead Redemption…in the future. And with better graphics. Come and go as I please, help people or just do what I want. Undertake missions and quests and such at my leisure, or jusy walk around and look at stuff, and maybe talk to the locals. The rpg-esque combat system sounds lame. I just want to shoot something until it’s dead and falls down upon dying, not whittle away at hp until they’re gone, and have to wait for them to count down for my target to realize it’s dead. I guess I want a sandbox, steampunk version of Red Dead Redemption.
Fallout 3 is in a boring barren desert which is not very fun to walk around in.
Stopping the action and using the VITS system is the most effective way to fight, by far. And even if you handicap yourself and play it like a regular FPS, the combat is still pretty boring as it is still an “RPG”(stat based game) and your equipment and levels play a huge role.
Perhaps Baorderlands is what he’s looking for? I know it’s an RPG to but it seems to revolve around gunslinging in a wasteland. You might have to wait for RAGE Rhio.
Yeah I also found Fallout 3 extremely boring. Get Borderlands instead, Rhio. Way more fun, a lot more action packed, better graphics(if that matters to you) a lot faster-paced, plus it has online co-op. I might start playing Borderlands again when I can get the last DLC from a friend.
I’m over half way through my inFAMOUS 2 Evil playthrough on hard. I’ll either finish it today or tomorrow.
Fallout 3 is a good game, Rhio. Borderlands isn’t really a sandbox game. It’s an FPS with instances, a diablo loot system on crack and a skill tree. Fallout 3 is an RPG with a lot of customization options and combat that’s hit or miss depending on what you like. It’s an open world but it’s very sparse. The story is good, and the amount of stuff you can do is pretty cool. The game breaks down at later levels in terms of difficulty. You can make yourself a god, like in most RPGs. I put probably over 200 hours into Fallout 3 and all of it’s expansions. F3 is different than the first two fallouts but it doesn’t sound like you’ve played them anyway.
Nah.
Imagine going to a wolf shooting it to no avail then the wolf kills you easily, and the only solution is to go and grind weaker enemies.
Which is exactly what happens in Borderlands.
