The Official PLAYSTATION® Thread: E3 - PS4 Pro November 10th $399

AE is more or less DLC done right. One character at a time like in Blazblue is DLC done shitty. Hiding 12 characters inside of a disk is DLC done in the worse possible way because all they really told the costumers is that “we aren’t really going to support this game long term, we are going to work on some stuff now and then ignore the game for the rest of its lifespan because we don’t want to create content later on.” So essentially what we are being told is that instead of looking forward to an upgrade in one or two years for the games, the only thing we get is the contented they created the first time around that is split up to create the appearance of DLC or more accurately, to drive the price of the original game up by a certain percentage.

Unfortunately this makes them look like shit, but because of the way the community actually works it doesn’t really matter.

There’s a difference between something planned for later (locked DLC) and taking something away from the game (withheld content).

Notice the first 2 questions were about on disc DLC and the last question is about withheld content.

Kamiya’s role is a director, he more than likely understands them as different things, unlike consumers who sees it as one in the same. DLC are (should be) like bonus accessories like the toy batmobile you can buy for your Batman action figure vs withholding his cape or something.

So someone asked him about dlc.

He said people should pay for dlc.

Then someone qualified the question about dlc with the context that the dlc was already on the disk.

Then he called that scummy.

Seems pretty clear to me.

I’m not defending anybody. I’m just saying, there is equal blame when it comes to all parties. Not just Capcom.

I think i’m going PC after this gen, there is a lot of more replay value and less problems on PC and less DLC spam, The last 2 companies that i still respect are Valve and Rockstar because they’ve always stated to bring quality over quantity, they offer a complete product before starting to work on DLC months later and guess what? they get even more millions of $ than any other company, Valve had some issues when Portal 2 had day 1 DLC but it was cosmetic content, despite i don’t like how Blizzard is since the merge with activision (dumbed down gameplay and overpriced digital mounts, pets, etc) at least they offer free content and anual expansions and they still have 10 million wow suscribers and a great Starcraft Scene.

Boycott? is an extreme posture and a ridiculous one, because everyone has the right to enjoy the product but not everyone is naive enought to see an unfinished game as finished (as some vanilla marvel fanboys claiming that the vanilla was complete when it was a glitchfest with 0 content), but i have the right to express myself and claim better forms of distribution, DLC is not a bad thing is a great feature thanks to the news forms of distribution, i agree also if they plan to have unfinished features locked on the disc if they want to work for them later or if they have some problems with MS and Sony because of Bandwidth costs, but COMPLETE content locked specially important parts of the game such as characters on day 1 is unacceptable.

PC ain’t the end all. Even to this day, you can buy a game and it won’t work for one reason or another. I bought L.A.Noir for PC, game will not launch. I tried a bunch of shit, and nothing. You hit launch and it just forces closed. It is a well known problem for that game, the DRM they use fucks it up. If you buy a console game, you are assuming it will work, and usually it does. When you buy a PC game, you are hoping you can get it to work. I haven’t had a problem with games from steam, but I bought L.A Noir off Amazon and it will not launch. Rockstar support in their forums, tells you to try all kinds of wild shit and I tried some, none worked.

Ive only had problems with one game on the PC - Bioshock. For some reason that game will not work right if I dont have something, it could be anything, plugged into the microphone jack in my PC. Pretty fuckin’ weird. You dont have to deal with whack shit like that on a console.

Anyhow, I wont be getting a next gen system either. I’ll just stick to my PC, old systems and handhelds.

I agree with you and is a Legit point, but what happened to some games like Skyrim and Battlefield 3? Skyrim on PS3 was a complete fraud, BF3 has some problems on PS3: green screens, the game crashes, etc. yeah, it was fun and accesible and i had great games and reached colonel rank 8 but some of those issues are really annoying, now that i own the PC edition i have less problems, the only issue is the hardware accesibility for high end PC games considering PC has 6 times more hardware updates than current consoles, consoles are more accesible and easy to play.

Yeah, all Bethesda games on PS3 are works in progress. I feel sorry for Skyrim PS3 owners that had their game ruined. They have had a ton of patches too.

I really see any completed, day zero content that is on disk, that is withheld with the intention of [re]selling it as DLC, as a company selling only part of the game, with the false claim of selling you the whole game.

the only DLC I considered acceptable is expansion packs. If PG wanted to give us a $10 expansion pack for Bayonetta that includes like, a extra playable character, Rodin, challenges for more trophies, opportunities to use weapons that were scrapped, scrapped concepts, scrapped concept costumes, more music (eh…#justsaying) and for $10 more (or separate) a “battle mode” where you can play your friends (one on one) with either Bayo, Jean, Rodin, or those female angels having the already mini-boss/ boss levels as the battlegrounds. you can either fight each other (imagine fighting upside down) or fight a shitload of angels in waves to see who can get the most combo/style points per level with bracelet and weapon handicap requirements. that’s tourney talk right there.

I’d keep online out ONLY for PG to see how well the idea worked THEN once Bayo2 comes out, it will have all of the stuff/ideas in the new game now with online play, no passes, and no extra charges needed.

Somebody hire me, please.

i like to see more DLC regulation in the future. maybe a rule DLC is not suppose to come out before six months or intentionally hide DLC code on disc and you have to buy a 100kb unlock key which is just a code that allows you access to the locked content. i never buy dlc becuase they always release a goty edition with all the dlc later.

heh…

**"**For 3,000 yen (36) you can get digital copies of Resident Evil: Director’s Cut, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 HD."

2 week DLC? that’s new. 4 full games for I assume $36. $9+ per game?

not too bad, but I’m kinda meh about it. as great as RE1-3 were they didn’t age well.

Another problem with the article was no one ever said CAPCOM in any tweets.

Got Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood off the PSN Best of 2011 Sale for less than used. PS+ has its advantages for sure.

How much was it? I actually got it at Bestbuy a couple months back for $10 new. They were having some crazy 1 day sales. Crysis 2 $10, some 3DS games $5.
You guys should check slickdeals.net daily and check the game sales that are posted.
That is why my backlog is so huge, so many great games, at great prices. I missed MotorStorm Apocalypse for $10, was mad about that for a few days.

$15 ($20 normal price) AC: B for PS+ members, $13 RE4 and $25 GOW: Collection i think.

GCA Winner list…PS+ discount.

Really?
Dissidia beat out Tactics Ogre…really?
Only game I’d probably get is GOW: Origins collection.

Dissidia 012 over Tactics Ogre is some bull-kaka.

But I’m glad though, because I already have two copies of Tactics Ogre, and none of Dissidia, and I want to play as Kefka
