Im not saying the graphics were the reason I hated it, just pointed that out as a downfall. I seriously just couldnt get into the game, but I mean for $10 I guess you could say its worth it
Yeah, I gotcha. Game’s not for everyone, but I feel that anyone and everyone who is into jRPGs should try Nier at least once. People either REALLY love it, or they hate it. If you’re about the story, characters, and music, you will most likely love Nier. If you’re about the gameplay and graphics, it will range from disliking it to hating it, depending on your tolerance, imo. The story and voice acting make it really hard to dislike the game, imo.
I just wish SquareEnix (the publisher) could have at least TRIED to support the game. They were too busy pushing Final Fantasy 13 to give a shit, though. Had no idea this game existed until a year after it came out. Hadn’t seen a single advertisement or news article or anything about it. What made me the most salty, though, is that Nier was released a month after FF13. SquareEnix straight denied Nier any hope of success. People will always buy Final Fantasy because it’s Final Fantasy. They wouldn’t have lost sales if they released Nier first, imo. Oh, well.
With more financial backing and support, I think Nier could have been legendary, instead of just great, and with more advertising, it would have made mad money.
Excuse me while I go rage in the corner for a while.
Oh, and my Uncharted peeps, I’m trying to get some multiplayer action going on today. Hit me up if you’re down.
Nier is probably the most depressing game I ever played, and the only one I haven’t finished due to it being too depressing.
Nier uses elements seen in various other games, but it gets good as you advance further into the game.
Unfortunately it may not be for everyone, but if you give it the chance you may like it.
I will say I hated carrying that damn package to the stupid dude behind a door in butthole canyon
but the game are fun
Uncharted 3 mp is a lil different than 2 aiming wise, i remember some people saying that. Other than that its so good! Cant wait till I learn the maps tho lol
Stop being a softy
It was like playing a game where you were a robot that was powered by hot women with big tits. The only way to win was to not play.
I loved Nier. Amazing game, so much love went into making it. An unforgettable experience. I remember SWBeta wouldn’t shutup about it, and for good reason. It’s that fucking good, thoughts of the game will invade your mind regardless of what you’re doing and long after finishing it.
I’ve never played a game like it this gen and I don’t think I ever will again. The characters and the way they interact with each other makes you forget you’re playing a game. Especially towards the end, with the way things unfold and how different characters/entire villages of people react/interact is fucking amazing. I’ve never had such a different amount of feelings hit me at once before when playing a game in a long time.
I wouldn’t even call it a traditional JRPG. It’s gameplay is action/hack and slash style, and the quests are in a WRPG Diablo/hack and slash style too. It’s an Action RPG. I want to play the Drakengard games, I played the 1st back in 2003 but don’t remember shit about it. Funny thing is Cavia made three light-gun Resident Evil games for Capcom. Wtf. Both of the Wii RE’s were made by them, which are getting ported to PS3.

Seems like they are going all out on Yakuza 5, apparently it will have five cities. This game will also have a longer development cycle so they are going to change a lot of things in the battle system etc.
Batman is the first open-world-ish game with fun combat.
Everyone else needs to go back to the drawing board. Especially you, Yakuza.
Where is the dislike button? SRK needs to go back to the drawing board and get on youtube’s level.
So why did you like it? lol.
Damn nice.
Since I have Ultimate Marvel 3 that’s the next thing up on my most wanted.
Im gonna start Yakuza 4 soon, I have never played any of the others lol. Just got it cause it was $10 new
4 has a flashback montage if I recall correctly, probably the best place to start for a new player. Especially since you have 4 characters to use, I think Yakuza 2 might have the strongest story though.
Here’s the funny part: aside from Syria and City of Bronze, the U3 maps are somewhat dull. U2 maps own (U2 continues to dominate, even in it’s successor. That’s weird). Uncharted virgins were afraid to play them when they came out, but now if there’s a U2 map up for voting, you WILL end up there. They need to bring out expanded versions of U2’s Village and Fort maps. And an evening version of that city square map (forget the name, took place at night) wouldn’t hurt.
co-sign on Yakuza 2. I mean any game that lets you go through a golden castle and punch two tigers in the face is a good game in my book.
man… yakuza 1’s story is so good. why do people repeatedly give yakuza 2 the nod over it?
i didn’t think yakuza 2’s story was all that great, and you had to take a bunch of leaps of faith for it to work overall… later yakuza games are constantly trying to manufacture storylines so that they can continue to draw from the amazing plot yakuza 1 had. i think yakuza 2 was a better game overall, but yakuza 1’s story was so tightly written, and takes you through the gamut of twists and turns that should come from a mafia-esque game.
the resolution of the final fight in yakuza 2 alone is enough to make me give the nod to yakuza 1.
