People on twitter and in chicago should be looking mad dumb right about now. Ugh, thats the only thing I hate about the state that twitter\facebook has put us in with the immediate reaction bullshit. He has an MCL tear, now what do you have to say? lol
Jay Cutler should remember the names of all the players who were talking trash. If he has any competitive fire inside (can’t really tell from his exterior demeanor), he’ll try to bust the shit out of those players if the Bears cross paths.
EDIT: I like that Rodgers strikes fear into the heart of the Steelers’ defense. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/writers/damon_hack/01/24/jets.steelers.insider/index.html?eref=sihp
I was telling peeps he prolly had a slight tear. Im like cutler is a rugged qb–shit you gotta be to play in those harsh climates. Its a big game which is a given but injuries happen all the time. Its like if you dont c a willis Mcgahee college type hit on a player they are soft??
Bears fans have nothing to feel ashamed of, Could Jay have played better sure, if he played the rest of the game who knows what happens. As long as cutler stays healthy the bears are gonna compete at this level. The D can only do so much.
Wish I had a qb 4 my team…lol. Seeing Aaron rodgers again how did the 49ers get Alex smith instead of this guy. We could have traded down and added a strong safety or something. We get the biggest bust since Ryan Leaf and the Pack get the 2nd version of Steve Young…
and what does this fucker say Yea you know young had to step out of montana’s shadow and now i have the same chance to do it. Best believe Aaron you get that superbowl you already tied with favre 4 bowl wins.
Those steelers…are just tough. Should be a hell of a superbowl!!!
I hope Cutler and the Bears come back next season with a vengeance…
I bet all the bashers feel stupid now.
I’m looking forward to the draft as well, Bears need to draft at least 3 offensive lineman so we can start shoring up and improving the line with some youth (the bears don’t have alot of areas of concern thank god, just mainly O-line). Yea, Collins is gone (probably got his pink slip after the game was over).
Yea, Cutler has done pretty good with what he had to work with. If we had a better o-line i think we would have had a little more consistency from him, good job by Tice to get improve the line from when the Bears were still trying to get the best combination of players together to make it work the begining of the season.
They will and then some, i really hope there isn’t a lockout next year because i wanna see some Bears football. :nunchuck:
Despite the Bears losing in the NFCCG it’s really amazing seeing how far the Bears had come from the begining of the season and getting to the playoffs, they really have alot to build on and to take from the NFCCG and this season as a whole and have great momentum for next year… BEAR DOWN !!!
I’m not really buying that. Matt Forte was able to rush for over a 1,000 yards, with an average 4.5ypc behind the same offensive line that blocks for Cutler; you cannot honestly tell me that an entire o-line knows how to block for the run, but completely forgets how to block for the pass. Cutler took 27 sacks in the first 5 games he played (bad shit), and only 25 sacks in the final 9 (perfectly acceptable). 52 sacks is a lot, but Rodgers took 50 last season and still threw for 30 TDs and 4,400yds with a 103.2 rating; excellence can be achieved even with a suspect offensive line. So to blame the o-line is just a lame excuse.
Playing with a so-so receiving corp, I’ll give you that. Bears receivers are pretty average. Cutler being able to throw to Forte and Olson help bail him out, but I agree that his WR corp, the focal point of the Martz offense, is “meh” and needs a serious upgrade (they all look like a strong wind will blow them over, none of them can compete with more physical DBs).
Playing for different coaches/coordinators, I don’t buy that. Cutler pretty much demanded a trade out of Denver, it wasn’t like his departure was some out-of-the-blue thing. He essentially put himself in that position, so I don’t really have any sympathy for him having to re-adjust to new personnel.
Yes, every QB has their off days. But Cutler’s best days still don’t shine as bright as they should in order to be an elite QB. Also, the fact that he’s better than every Bears QB in recent history has less to do with how good Cutler is and more to do with how terrible the Bears front office has been at obtaining a solid QB.
Run blocking and pass blocking are two different things. Plus, every time a new system gets put into action, it’s not just the backs and receivers that have to learn it, it’s the o-line as well. You can have all the skill and talent in the world, but if your o-line is suspect, you’re not going to have time to do anything. Just because a few exceptions have been made, it doesn’t change the rule. As for that asinine statement about being great regardless of the o-line, why don’t we ask David Carr how he feels?
You show me a guy that can excel while learning different offense systems year in and year out and I’ll show you a guy that’s not playing football.
And I suppose you have a few QBs in mind? In any event, your gripe is with the front office, not Cutler. Dude doesn’t have much to work with.
WTF Influx of posters coming in
Too quote Cool-BReeze
WHO ARE YOU ALL?
This was a trip
Everyone talking about Cutler. What about that second stringer for Da Bears? He got pulled because he sucked… Thats a fail
To be honest,I think Carson hasn’t fully recovered from that knee tear(Willis McGahee had the same type of injury plus & he’s back on track) & not to mention that he had elbow problems throughout. The media can blame T.O. & Chad all they want about the Bengals season being a disaster,if you want to point fingers then point it at Marvin Lewis & his staff
Cutler has no fault in this. Fact is, the media hates this guy. There are other qbs who have treated their teams worse of failed to step up but since the media loves them, they get a free pass. BRETT FARVE!!! VINCE YOUNG!!! MARK SANCHEZ!!!
Comments like this are beyond stupid
“The only people who justify sitting out because of a sprained MCL are those that have never sprained it. Heck even a torn MCL isnt that bad, and you don’t even feel it until the next day.”
and do what? Risk his career and miss an entire year?
Well now they’re saying it was a sprained MCL. ESPN says the team kept him off the field, not his own decision.
nuff said.
If Cutler would have tore his knee up completely nobody would have shit to say and the Bears season next year would be a wash, and we’re back to square one with the qb drama waiting for Cutler to heal.
I’m well aware that run and pass blocking are different, but you’re letting Cutler off the hook far too easily when it comes to his sacks/fumbles and how “bad” the o-line is. Rodgers took 50 sacks last season, and about half of those were squarely on Rodgers holding onto the ball too long, trying to get the 20+ yard play, instead of dumping it off to the back in the flat for the easy 3 yards. I’ve watched a lot of Cutler’s games this year (a byproduct of playing in the same division) and any rational football can’t put all 52 sacks on Cutler’s o-line. He stands too long in the pocket looking downfield (all QBs do at some point) and although he has some escapability, he’s terribly inaccurate throwing on the run and he’s ineffective when scrambling, resulting in getting sacked even when he dodges out of the initial pocket pressure. It’s easy to say, “52 sacks! Horrible o-line!” But that doesn’t tell the whole story. 6 of the 9 Bears offensive linemen from last season returned for this season. Last season, Cutler was sacked 35 times (acceptable), this season he was sacked 52 times (horrible). Again, it’s easy to blame the o-line, but considering that it’s virtually the same o-line from last season’s 35 sack total, I don’t really see how you’re putting this all on the o-line and not on Cutler.
Also, there’s nothing asinine about my comment re: overcoming sacks. Bad shit happens all the time unless your name is Brady or Manning when it comes to protection breakdowns (they barely break 20 per season). You either fold like a bitch (Carr) or you get it done (Rodgers, Rivers). Talent has a big part in the results, but you can’t just hope that your o-line protects you all game in the NFL, especially in the NFC North where defenses are getting at the QB regularly (Packers, Lions).
Again, I don’t share the same sympathy as you as Cutler demanded a trade out of Denver, this wasn’t thrust upon him out of nowhere.
I have no gripes with the Bears. My comment about the Bears front office was in response to your comment about Cutler being better than all the recent Bears QBs; my point was that just because Cutler’s better than Rex Grossman doesn’t make him a QB to build your franchise around.
EDIT: Meh, the Bears have been so bad at QB for almost two decades straight, that I can sorta understand why Bears fans are excited over Cutler. I don’t agree, but I at least understand given the Bears history at QB. But my point still stands; being better than Griese, Grossman, and Chandler isn’t something that a non-Bears fan gets excited about.
EDIT2: Excellent article that articulates my feelings on Cutler: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/bears/3469402-419/bears-packers-game-championship-loss.html
Packers and Steelers fans are so used to winning they didn’t even seemed happy yesterday when they won the NFC/AFC Championship game.
I was like what the fuck we Seachicken’s fans would have been going NUTS.
The Steelers fans look dead during the AFC trophy presentation. It was “oh we won another one? Great… ”
I wished we can win enough to someday even entertain that train of thought.
Rex Ryan has stated that Brian Schottenheimer is “absolutely” coming back next season. I feel sorry for Jets fans.
Lol ckrazy. Steeler Nation, I can see why they’d be nonchalant about it, but Packers haven’t done shit since 1997, so we were definitely going crazy, it’s just that we were at Soldier Field and there was only a few thousand Packers fans in the stands and our trophy presentation was in the locker room (iirc).
I get it, you’re one of those people that believe the quarterback is the end-all, be-all on the offense. What, the other 10 guys aren’t obligated to make the offense succeed? Also, you must not have been watching the same games I have because there were many occasions in which the receivers had catchable passes had they fought for them enough. Cutler deserves some blame, but he’s not the only one, nor is he the biggest reason why the offense is the way it is.
I get that the o-line isn’t guaranteed to protect you all game, but the o-line should not put the QB in the position where they have to get out of dodge, throw it away, make some athletic play, etc. on a regular basis. As you said, some guys are cut out for it, some are not, but it’s ultimately the o-line’s responsibility to make sure the QB is not put in that position very often.
That’s a moot point. Doesn’t change the fact he had to learn a new system as a result.
It takes time to create an elite QB; it doesn’t happen overnight. Also, learning to perform in 3 different systems in just as many years is not a good indicator of whether or not a QB can become elite. That’s like saying if someone’s good in Street Fighter 4, they should be just as good in Virtua Fighter 5.
In any event, you probably don’t care either way since you’re not a Bears fan. That’s fine. We’ll just have to agree to disagree.
Mike Brown says Palmer isn’t getting traded…Bengals fans must be SO happy right now…
