Hey guys, names Chris.
Ive lurked around SRK for a while now just looting the free character info from the forums, but Ive decided now to take a more proactive role in the community. Some brief background info on my fighting game history, I grew up in a rural area in eastern Tennessee so i was never really able to get into the arcade scene, the only one we had shut down when i was 7 because the owner was busted for fraud and tax evasion =/ so that left me with the home console.
Super Street Fighter II on the SNES…Best.Game.Ever. Period.
Now that my fanboyism is out of the way, I will admit i sucked at SF, the only character i could use was Balrog. i couldnt even do a fireball how sad is that? It was around this time i discovered Mortal Kombat. I fell in love with MK2 and bought every title afterwards. at this point i thought mk>sf simply because i could actually do the special moves in mk. I didnt get back into playing SF until SF4 came out and im rehooked as ever.

Been playing fighting games for a while, starting with MK…then keeping with MK…I pick winners btw. Currently I’m playing SSF4 and waiting on MvC3. And as much as I like fighting games, I really suck at them lol.

Hey guys I’m a fairly big fan of fighting games been playing fighters since the golden age (SF2 days)around that time I was 5 maybe younger not to sure but I was a super scrub however as I got older and played other fighters such as Rival schools alpha 2 & 3 and other fighters on the dreamcast and ps2.I didn’t really get into fighters till I started playing Neo-Geo games on various emulators I fell in love with KOF and other fighters and shit blew me away.Moving on however I’ve been unsuccessful in starting a scene in my country(i live in stkitts located in the caribbean) the only fighter that EVERYONE plays is Super Smash bros good game but it’s not a technical fighter it’s a party game in my eyes and I prefer SF anyday to make matters worse we have like 2 arcades 1 at a hotel with outdated games e.g Tekken 3 and the other the only fighter is Tekken 5 DR good game but why get better if there isn’t much competition ? However I will try my hardest to get more people into technical fighters like SF,KOF etc in future maybe someone can give me some tips on how to start?(by the way I got 1 person interested in SF IV)There was a scene back in the Golden Age with what I call the OG’s my uncle and his friends but there old now and only like 4 are still good(uncle being 1 of them he also taught me the basics of SF)there also busy and I bearly see his friends so I think it’s time to start a new generation.

Hey all, I’m new to the fighting genre… Well almost.
It began with me as a kid trying out street fighter in the arcade for the first time and i couldn’t make it through to the next round despite putting lots of token in.
I had no idea what made me pick up SSFIV from the mall, but since i spent money on it, i might as well make the best out of it.
While looking through the character selection scene, I chanced upon a famillar face. I actually had a Vega figurine in my room since I was a kid. Then the moves were too hard for me to pull off so i’m maining Juri now.
Yo. I’m byrd and I joined SRK about a good two years ago before everything started gettin hype.
The game that got me back into the game was Street Fighter IV national tournament with gamestop and capcom yada yada yada. It was that tournament that re-sparked my interest in the fighting game genre in general.
Thanks to SRK I’m playing all kinds of games thanks to what you guys on SRK are hypin up (like a black n mild. lol.) shit like windjammers and kof '98. I haven’t played these in years, but now that people are playing them again gives me a feeling of closure.
Oh yeah I found shoryuken.com after I participated in the tournament last year.
Another tidbit for people who are new is that when I smoke marijuana while playing any game, Melty Blood especially, I get good.

I’ll give you that Claw’s execution is somewhat difficult. I used to main him in SF4 until I was finally able to get 360s for the first time ever. Out of sheer boredom, I accidentally started practicing it on my Xbox 360 controller while doing nothing else. Still, he can be quite rewarding when played effectively. Juri is deceptively difficult, even though her base level of play is quite easy. You really ought to get her alternate outfit, though. I find I can’t stand her base form at all after seeing that.

I’ve been playing fighting games for a while, but I haven’t really been very good at them. I started out with Street Fighter 2 on the SNES with my best friend and followed him to MvC2 when that came out years later (we were really far behind, console wise). He has almost always been able to beat me and whenever I try to play online, I get my butt handed to me quite easily.
Basically, I’ve come here to try and learn some new tricks for the games that I play, Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Street Fighter II and IV, Soul Caliber, and MvC2, among others. I also am looking forward to talking to others about fighting games in general and the upcoming release MvC 3.

I just signed up here at SRK a few hours ago. I came here a lot in the past to mainly check up on media updates and SSFIV tutorials. I have been playing fighting games since SFII for the SNES. Ever since, I have had a growing and everlasting passion for fighting games. I play all sorts of fighting games, such as Tekken, Soul Calibur, Mortal Kombat, and more. I’m the competitive type of player, although I haven’t been to any offline tournaments. It’s nice to meet everyone here in the SRK community!
to the above poster: what are people supposed to call you when you get to those offline tournaments?
If I ever go to an offline tournament, people could call me sksk, or Josh (an abridged version of either my user name, or my real name). I think most would probably prefer the abridged version of my real name.
Hello everyone. I am fairly new to this forum. I have posted once before. i was actually referred to this site by a friend and found out how much it really helped. Hopefully this site will help improve my game alot. I really only play SSF4 and sometimes BB:CS.

Whatssup everybody, just got back into the fighting game scene with SFIV, played a little SF3S and MvC2 and loved them both but didn’t have the time to play them cuz of school. But now I play a ton of SSFIV and started playing in local tournaments. I’m also really into art and I’m now creating custom art for SRK members for TE and SE Madcatz sticks. Hello everyone, I just recently started to play ssf4 and immediately enjoyed the game. I played street fighter back in the days and bloody roar so why i waited this long, i have no idea. I was referred to this site by one of my clan members “TorturedElf” and he helped me in my training. I just ordered a arcade stick from game stop, its been almost a week and still waiting.

Haven’t played too much fighting games since SF2 and KOF95 times, but I just got BlazBlue for the 360 and I can’t figure what put me out of fighting games for all those years.
