The Official NBA 2014-2015 Thread: Simp City

Too much money for Parsons, Dallas is overpaying him and he has a player option. Working out a sign and trade to get a trade exception and get some more cap space.

Ariza will take his place and is better overall. Still need to address the PF and back up PG issue.

I don’t blame Houston if they decide not to match. It sucks losing Parsons but you gotta punish Cuban for fucking with you like that

So that would be a no then?

Needs to redeem himself.

I can’t see Miami having 3 point guards. Norris is probably getting moved.

Sorry but Ariza is not better than Parsons. Just stop that. He’s nowhere near the athlete or passer that Parsons is currently.

I will say that the Mavs overpaid, but that’s comes with the territory when you’re trying to grab a RFA - you’ll have to overpay most of the time in order to force his current team to make a tough decision.

Why would the Heat trad Norris? He was the only PG they had worth shit in the finals.

So you resign Mario who is meh because Shabazz is struggling like all rookies do even tho the org has been trying to replace him longer than the Lakers have been trying to trade Pau. But Norris Cole gets traded? Makes little sense to me but whatever.

I agree that Parson can fuck around in Dallas if I was the the Rockets, Dallas has handicapped themselves in cap space with that dumb pressure move on Houston and I don’t think he improves them enough to beat the Thunder or a more experience Spurs team even tho Dallas came close.

You’re high if you really believe that. Parsons is a 3-4 assists kind of guy. Last time Ariza was in Houston, he averaged 3.8 apg. Ariza is also a dunk contest tier athlete. He’s leaps and bounds better than Parsons defensively.

Parsons only has two major advantages. He’s 6’9" and a superior shooter. Ariza has major dry spouts, but he can also explode… like when he went 10-14 from 3p range against Houston, or dropped 40 on Philly.

What Ariza brings to the Rockets on defense can’t even be valued on a team filled with subpar defenders outside of Dwight and Bev.

Defense is the only plus he brings, I’ll give you that. But let’s be real, Ariza has pulled a Chris Bosh and relegated his offensive game to spot up 3-pointers. He used to have dunk contest athleticism, but that’s fading. He averaged 2.5 assists last season, Parsons averaged 4. Parsons has the playmaking ability that Ariza doesn’t on top of that. He can create his own shot more effectively to boot.

Was he overpaid a bit? Yea. But overall you take Parsons over Ariza right now.

OKC are officially pretenders in my book until KD grabs the reigns and makes the Thunder his team.

I don’t see the Spurs making it out of the West this season either. They were on a mission last season and played out of their minds. I’ll be surprised if they can reach that level again.

Teams to look out for in the West are the Clippers, Trailblazers and possibly Phoenix if they learn to play defense - which is a longshot.

In the East, Cleveland and Miami are 1 and 1a, with Miami being relegated to #2 if the Cavs land Love.* Washington with Paul Pierce easily puts them next in line followed close by Chicago. If the Pacers get their confidence back they can also be in the mix.

*Cleveland should just go ahead and trade Wiggins for Love right now. They’ve got a prime opportunity to go straight to the finals with a lineup of Kyrie, Waiters, Lebron, Love and Thompson.

Ariza played with Wall, who dominated the ball and averaged 8-9 assists most of season. Player stats on season-by-season basis is dependant on their team’s structure and who they play with. Ariza would average 3-4 assists on Rockets too since they don’t have a pure pg. Likewise, when Ariza averaged 3.8 apg in Houston, Aaron Brooks was a scoring pg and wasn’t a big passer. So if that’s the reasoning for calling Parsons a better passer, it’s inaccurate.

Ariza is the better overall piece for Houston. A guy that can finish and play spot-up is exactly who they need. And they’ll benefit from his defense right away.

People who haven’t watched Parsons all season don’t get to see the horrible shooting slumps he goes through. There are weeks where he literally can’t hit anything, and still isn’t a good free throw shooter. He has a much bigger upside than Ariza, but is an overrated defender and was the one who Lillard hit the shot over.

He’s a great player, don’t get me wrong, but Ariza is just as good offensively and even better defensively, which is what we needed. He knows our organization, our system, and has championship experience. He’s prone to shooting droughts, but most shooters are outside of a select few.

The sign and trade moving him and Asik together gives us tons of money to work with and now we can target a Kenneth Faried or some other PF/big.

Edit: I agree with Geo for once. That worries me.

Mike Ryan is the voice of Heat Nation right now.

Saying some of the same things I said yesterday on here.

I’ve seen Houston fans outside of KD Alpha legit say that “X” player is shit a few times now. Weather it’s Lin, Asik, or Parsons. It doesn’t make sense.

Houston got a lot of bandwagon fans from Dwight’s arrival last year. A bunch of emotional fanboys who were infatuated with Lin and Parsons. Both are good players, but overpaid for their value. I respect both, but glad we’re not overpaying for their services.

As for Asik, I loved him on our team, but he didn’t want to be here off the bench and last year it showed. He did more bad than good, so he had to go.

LOL.

You went to 4 straight Finals and won 2. You don’t get to be angry now. Sit down somewhere.

Nobody cares about Finals and championships. LeBron didn’t have the guts that Riley spoke of. He caved in to peer pressure and trying to please people… walked out on fans that had his back from the moment he arrived here.

Like I told you yesterday, you would never understand.

Dem Heat tears doe…

They aren’t waterfalls like Bulls tears everytime Derrick goes down.

They’re manly tears of frustration with enough salt to make the FGC seem like Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood.
