There’s no chance to go to Japan for me unless they change the laws. Maybe someday Japan will limit its red-tape officiousness nonsense and be less restrictive to gaijin, but until then I’m learning Chinese.
However the Japanese University that screwed this up took responsibility. They deposited a fair sum in my account yesterday that covers most of my losses. It’s a vindication, just like that article I wrote that made it into the Japan Times. It’s not what I wanted - I wanted to be in Japan! - but sometimes you take it as it comes.
O.K. folks I’m about to start planning the Second Season of the Final Round Japan (FINALROUNDBATS) here in Tokyo. Does anyone have anything they want to say or words of advise to air out? I will have a staff meeting in a couple of weeks, probably at my place out in Saitama.
Oh and I should be coming out to Osaka at once maybe twice this summer. Let’s go WESTSIDE!
More or likely but more set-ups is a must at this point. I’m kinda expecting more guest time around! Also HFZ69, remind me to give you your FRXIV shirt later.
As of now, I’m proposing that we will start in MAY 2011 - Feb 2012. I wanted to start in April but due to the Earthquake and the current state of Japan in general. I think will be wise to chill this month.
Games: SSFV AE (Upon Release), Tekken 6 or Tag, MVC3 and the New MK. We will be needing more setups and sponsors but I am working on all of this. Also, FR has always stayed true to the “If we got it and we got the means to play it without interrupting the flow of the tournament. Let run it!” philosophy. So you will most definitely see some obscure fighters and games if we have the means to do so.
Then there is the all important matter of the tickets to FRV. Ultimately, I want 2 winners to go this year. Actually, It would be really cool to send an actual Final Round Japan team to FRXV. With this in mind I’m going to have to find some extra sponsors and maybe even take donations (Which I really rather totally avoid all together but we shall see).
Now, on to something I want to see happen. I want to see some fresh blood out of Japan at FRXV. In all honestly, Hafiz (Abelity) would have done well at FRXIV. I’m talking about some “unexpected skills” coming out of our tournament and not just in SSFIV. There are a lot of games being played at FR and I want you guys to bring back as many Pimp Cups, Evo Championships and whatever you can bring back to our circle. This doesn’t mean that I’m shunning the less skillful players, Hell at the moment I’m not that good right now at any current fighters. But if you got what it takes to kick some ass and take some names. LET’S GO!
Will do, I had 2 meetings with some of Godgardens Staff and O.G. TPC (Tokyo Pizza Club) members today.
And now I feel more confident about this years series.
Also the name will be FINAL ROUND JAPAN and if you haven’t joined the FR page on FaceBook please do and look through our pictures to see how we roll lol.
FR-Hanami will have to happen next year. But I just noticed the shirt I got for you is a small. So if it doesn’t fit I’ll get you a new one on the next shipment.
Hey guys, in the Fall 2011 semester I’m going to be studying Asian Studies/Japanese at Temple University, Tokyo Campus, and I will either be staying in dorms in Ota Ward or Takadanobaba depending on where I’m placed. Do any of yall live near there? I play all kinds of fighting games and it would be awesome to meet up or go to an event with some SRK people in Japan. I’m gonna be there from August 29th to December 7th. Hopefully I get to meet you guys and see some cool arcades. What do you guys recommend for adjusting to life in Tokyo?
Shizuoka, Damn that’s a trip and coupled with the fact that my phone is really in limbo. I probably won’t be going now. But I did find a place for FinalRoundBats it’s in Saitama but there is a bar and we can stream. We might even be able to have a live show.
