1 vs 2 weeks is an interesting question, the list of things I want/must do is in my post. You ask if 1 week is really worth it, I wonder if 2 weeks is worth it. Worst-case scenario is me not knowing anyone and spending 13 days sleeping in a capsule hotel and wandering around Japan aimlessly. I want to see some temples, but I don’t need to see more than a few. There’s a couple castles I’d like to visit, but seen a couple, seen them all. I don’t want to spend 10 days in an Arcade, though it might be fun to get trounced in SFIV in .035 seconds and get a picture to prove it.
Granted the extra time would allow me to spend a day in Hiroshima, window-shop in downtown Tokyo, check out a beach, and go fishing in one of those pay-to-fish places I once saw on a J-Drama (Tokyo DOGS) but beyond these things I’ve mentioned I’m not sure what else there is. I don’t even know where to look to find other things to do, as the travel guides don’t say much more than Temple, Castle, Temple, Castle, Sushi.
