The Official Japan Thread 2.0 "Nani?"

Wow, so no one competitively played NMH3 over there?

Hey, Im gonna be making a trip back to US. Any tips on buying a ticket SRK???

[wintermute] can probably answer this question 10x better than I can, but until he gets here…

In general, try to buy early. Earlier is cheaper, by far.

Also, if you have a choice, avoid peak travel seasons. Golden Week, summer, and winter vacations are of course a nightmare. It can be done though if you book early enough. Your cheapest bets will be between travel seasons though.

You can also shave off some dollars by taking a non-direct flight. There are stop-overs China/Korea through Cathay Pacific/Korean Airlines. The downside is that your layover time might be pretty atrocious (I had to spend 16 hours in the Korean airport once…).

HIS No.1 Travel does advertise cheap rates, but the catch is that they factor in stuff like fuel surcharge and taxes afterwards, so the final price might not be that much different from what you could get through Expedia, or from the airline directly. Try getting some other prices first, and then contacting HIS by phone and make sure you get the final number from them, then you can compare.

Never, ever fly Northwest. NEVER. Even if they advertise a ticket to anywhere in the US for like $10. Its not worth it.

Even if you find a cheaper ticket that departs from Tokyo, keep in mind that you have to get to Tokyo, and that costs money and takes time.

I’ve been going by United for the past few years now, for me its a nice balance between cost and convenience.

BIGWORM - It was played, just not as much as the gamecube ones.

Oh, and I’m in for the gathering, provided nothing else comes up (and its me, so of course nothing else is gonna come up, lol)

Pizza is really expensive tho, can we like, eat something different next time? I ate like 2 slices, and paid about 2000 yen, so 10 bucks per slice of pizza hut pizza just doesn’t sit right with me. I’d rather we all go out and eat at a restaurant or something if we’re gonna be paying that much.

Of course, if the majority wants pizza, I’m not gonna be a party pooper…lol…

I never seen or read Naruto… can one of you guys fill me in on the entire story of Naruto while we are playing this game? I would really appreciate it.

You are real cool dudes I liek milk

Hell, I could do that right now.

Naruto is a hyperactive kid who has a demon fox sealed inside of him, which makes him super strong. It also means everyone hates him at first because of said demon, but then he saves everyone’s biscuits 4 or 5 times and he makes friends. Including girlfriends, but he turns them down because apparently girls are icky.

His best friend is Sasuke Uchiha. Sasuke is major emo because his older brother killed their entire family and was like LOL U MAD? Sasuke was MAD, so he became a bad guy to get bad guy powerups. Naruto, despite having a bajillion friends now, is obsessed with getting Sasuke back.

The bad guys are these ninjas who wear black cloaks with red clouds on them. They look badass, but lose to 15 year old kids, and once they take off the cloak their death is guaranteed.

The strongest peeps in this manga are ones who have a demon sealed inside of them, or ones who have magic eyeballs that hypnotize people and shoots lasers and shit. Uchiha is one of the magic eyeball families. The main bad guy is a Uchiha who wants to turn the moon into a giant eyeball so he can put everyone into dreamland.

That’s about it I think.

Depends on timing, flights from KIX are going to be about $100 more than comparable flights from Tokyo. If you want, PM me details and I will get you sorted. $800 is probably the best you are going to do at the moment.

Thanks for the advice. I will avoid Northwest like the plague.

Also, can you tell me how purcashing works? Can/ should I have family by in the U.S. and send here or what? Any advice would be appreciated.
I have a postoffice account here, I guess I can pay from there to a website agency like expedia right???

Yo what’s the claim against Northwest?

Fuck Northwest!

Aye bull? Provided that I can make it out to the next TPC. Let’s go oldskool.

I always find the best prices to fly back to the US from Japan on American airlines. I always fly during winter and summer break though which are the busiest times of the year, so I dont know how off season times compare, but it always gives me the best rates when I check. I would recommend sticking with the same airline each time. So far since coming to Japan I have flown back home 4 times and now for my 5th time when I visit for xmas, I will be flying completely free because I was able to buy a whole roundtrip ticket completely with frequent flyer miles.

If you have a credit card, you can just log into Expedia from here. Most stuff is handled electronically now, so all you need is to save/print out the confirmation page and then take that with you to the airport. If you don’t have a card, or want to entrust your family to do it, you’d have to make sure they reserve the ticket in your name with your passport number, and that they send you the confirmation info by email.

HIS, or buying directly from the airline from Japan, you can pay by bank transfer. You can reserve the ticket, and then they usually ask for payment in full within a week. You may be able to do this from Expedia Japan as well, but I’ve never used the Japanese site so I can’t say for certain.

And as Elven said, whichever carrier you pick, you should stick with, as repeated trips give you miles, and this will end up in a free trip somewhere eventually. I’m kicking myself now for not having done so up until now.

Horrible, horrible service, always delayed or off-schedule, just everything in general has been awful. You think for a cheap price you can put up with it, but for such a long flight the overall shittyness is just magnified. You don’t wanna get off a 12-hour plane feeling all salty about the bad flying experience.

no to NWA as well . they have shitty service , bad looking stewardess and extremely shitty food .

but hella cheap prices though . its a win-lose lose-win situation .

SO Im gonna take a 8:45am flight from kansai airport, but since its so early and since the trains dont start till six, that means Ill have to over night in the airport it seems. DOes anybody have any sort of similar experience with this?? Or advice???

^^^I’m gonna be doing the same thing when i go back home.

I’m gonna have my computer, my ds, ipod, psp, and maybe a book or two. Pretty much, just bring stuff to keep yourself entertained. Also bring a pillow of your own, maybe.

bring some Pr0N and a box of tissues and see where you can ninja jerk other than a bathroom stall.

*extra points though if it’s in the ladies room

Extra, extra points if there are ladies in the bathroom right?

Yeah, but hey…

Who says HN didn’t suggest pron? :razzy:

i flew from narita to minneapolis with northwest and it wasn’t bad at all. granted the quality of things wasn’t anywhere near as good as korean air, but in-head rest seats, hot stewardesses an d bomb ass food aren’t THAT important.

that said, if the difference is less than $200 i will always go with the asian airline in the future.

Oh wow. The ticket home I bought back in August for about $1100 - is now selling for $5919.
