Im on my 5th year of JET so I can’t remember exactly but I am pretty sure I had to submit the references sealed as well. I think they do this so that you can’t make fraudulent reference letters. Do you have time to ask them to send another copy? If not… I guess you could seal it in a separate envelope and sorta “fake it” but I dunno… I mean, technically if they wrote the reference for you and you dont alter the original, I dont see it as you doing anything immoral or wrong but I guess the best option would be to ask for another sealed one.
Ya i actually just asked a couple trustworthy people at my job to write me letters. Not the road i originally wanted to take but, i had no choice. I need to send this stuff out tomorrow. thanks for your input though.
Yeah it was a pain to get all those letters and expect the authors to actually follow the proper format JET asks. Luckily one of the people I had write the letter was a Polish CS professor and not very confident about his grammar, thus let me correct it for him. Luckily I did because he referenced me as “she” several times
Long story short, I didn’t make the cut this year.
Lol good stuff. Too bad you didn’t make the cut though. Ive been juggling this idea in my head for 3 years now, then after visiting Japan again recently i just decided fuck it. I would be severely disappointed if i didn’t get accepted, so I’m looking for other companies to apply with just in case JET doesn’t work out. Any know any companies that don’t have a bad rep for fucking ppl over?
depending on what you do there are a few companies out there that you can get jobs for. personally, i would just skip the whole engrish teacher gig and get a move on a real job.
like i said… it really depends on what you do (or want to do) for a living.
This is what i do for a living. Believe me, i do not want to be an English teacher, i just figure its the best way to get my foot in the door. My thought was teach English for 2-3 years, then after that my Japanese should be good enough to start looking for a real job in my current carrier. I just figure, why would a Japanese company hire and American from overseas to do renderings when they could find someone just as capable to do it over there with far less trouble and no language barrier… But if im wrong, by all means point me in the right direction man. I’d much rather be rendering then teaching @.@
dude… that is hella cool. do you got a basic proposal and what not? I met an american girl that just graduated uni (was married to a japanese though) and was doing panarama layouts for restaurants and what not, but with the w/o music etc.
i deal with real estate in japan and overseas and know a few people in the hotel biz, resorts, etc. so i can push your profile. no promises, but all i can really do is push the word.
much appreciated, ill pm you some details
is it me… or has Reno been gone for hella long?
Yo’ I’m going to start a new 2012 thread. This thread has been up for 2 years and a half now.
(And Yes Reno has been MIA for a minute. . . I suspect that twitter/FB and life consumed him. But I hope that he returns.)
GD Mods please close this thread. Thank You!
