It’s kind of odd b/c Tatum was the one who brought it to their attention and how he was a super fan of the character and all this shit.
They probably woulndt even think to make a film if he hadnt pushed.
I have 2 theories.
- He wanted more money and is threatening to pull out if his demands arent met. But the budget is at 150 M already which is a bit much for a stand alone film.
- The script sucked and wants to bail.
It’s a request for a white cajun. Hollywood can do that. Hell even Stephen Moyer played a decent one.
I like Tatum but I’ve never thought he was the right guy for the role no matter how much he loves the character.
Tatum was a terrible choice but I still dont have high hopes for the movie, the perfect actor for this role is Cyril Raffaelli, french dude from the district 13 movies. He does ninja parkour and knows MA, plus he would probably pull a much better cajun than half the assholes from hollywood.

Let’s be real here…does anyone REALLY want to see a Gambit movie? Do you REALLY think the character is worth his own solo movie?
Also as near as i can tell, the only time the character ever stood out big-time was…yup, the 90’s cartoon series. That’s like the single, biggest claim to fame on his resume. And being such a popular character in the cartoon, netted him gigs like being in the 16-bit X-Men titles and the Capcom fighters.
Other than that, how has he really stood out since then? And you really want a solo movie out of him?
