i have been keeping up w/ the manga as well and i agree it kicks the shit out of the anime…
but i do love the anime as well, the direction they went in was kinda cool if a little confusing and incoherent.
i’ve been buyin the volumes, so i’m probly really behind where everyone is out, still waitin on volume 11, plz dont spoil for me or at least use tags.
I think it’s the other way around. Greed is controlling the body, but Ling still has at least a say in the matter.
Having the Homunculus be failed human transmutation attempts was an anime plot device. The manga has shown nothing of the sort. In fact, so far…

In the manga, Homunculus are shown to be created by the Hoenheim look-alike guy. Either created from scratch, or made by putting a philosophers stone in a human (in the case of Wrath/The Fuhrer and New Greed). It’s also been shown that the failed human transmutation attempts end up producing something that’s not even close to the original. Ed dug up the remains of what he and Al transmuted and found that it wasn’t at all similar to their mother.

I’m on vol 10 of the anime. It’s getting pretty awesome. IMO, the animated fight between Ed and Greed is ALMOST as good as Trigun’s final battle with Vash and Knives… almost…
