Tian well bring teh arpe.
Martin plays dark Konoha, so 33% of the current Austin scene plays dark ;(
But then again I beat him 10 straight with stone Kamui, so dark has a pretty bad win rate right now ;(
Well, water has the whole bubble thing. Kamui can do like BC on block into 214D, and then because of that she has a bubble somewhat protecting her and might get her out of combos. Konoha and Lilica with those allowing you to be offensive without really worrying about combos so much, cause its risky for the opponent to try to attack when water bubbles are out cause their attack might hit the bubble and then yeah, free combo.
And those are just the ones i see OFTEN. Obviously there’s a buncha people who use other arcana’s, but those are the popular tournament choices for the people who do well in tourneys with that respective character.
So if Wind Fiona works for you, use Wind Fiona. Whatever works for you is better than “the popular choice.” I would hope you realize that.
Okay, I wanted to talk about the upcoming tournament for a bit.
Since we’re having a double elimination tournament, I wonder what kind of standard/precedent we should set (if other arcades in America start getting this game and have double elimination tournaments as well lol.
Do you guys think you should freely be allowed to change arcana even if you win? Or be forced to keep your arcana choice until you lose as well?.
I’m personally against changing it but I don’t have enough data to form a opinion lol. Someone give me a suggestion or a alternate viewpoint (I’m looking at you HeartNana lol)
Some system questions -
How does the air recovery system ork? At what point can you flip out and recover after getting slammed torard the wall or something similar?
How does the airblock system work? what are the rules for airblocking from air to ground (meaning, what are the rules for which you cannot block ground-based attacks?)
if theres thats better explained by aim (because of effort), then by all means let me know.
More later I guess, back to watching videos. I’m at Justin’s house and I’ll be heading to CF today.
CrimsonDisaster: lol. Thanks for writing up that report, keep em coming.
Oh yeah, BTW, I’m definetely going to be there on Saturday to record and all that good stuff.
Then you’ll be there to record me winning the entire thing, even if the Kamui shows up.
I think you should be freely allowed to change. There’s a reason why when continuing in the game, you can’t change characters, but arcanas. Most likely, people do the best with the same arcana, so it shouldnt really be that big of an issue anyways. And arcanas are sometimes better against certain characters, so if im playing heart and use electric against a mei fang, win the first match, they switch to Kira, i should be able to switch to Love based off that. However, since the heart player won, they should pick their arcana first. For the first match, the game allows you to double blind if you hold start, if necissary, tho i never see Japanese players use it in tourneys cause everyone uses the same arcanas everytime.
Whenever you get hit, the time before you can recover goes down a little. So thats why you can only loop with Lilica 4 times, because after that, the recovery time (due to the prior hits) allows you to tech out of it.
As for slammed toward the wall, you just hold D and you’ll wall tech.
There are certain ground attacks for each character that are unblockable in the air, pretty much is it. Aside from those attacks, you can block everything else. A few examples are Kira’s 2B, Lilica’s 3C, Mei Fangs 6B, Fiona’s 3C, etc. But you can still clash with those moves, or guard cancel through them if you’re in blockstun, etc. Lots of ways to get out of them, provided you have homing gauges.
there needs to be a no homing gauge tourny
And it’d be the absolute most boring tourney ever, as everyone will pick Konoha and whoever hits 2A2B2C623A first wins cause without the homing gauge, you cant do anything. Or Kamui/Mei Fang doing j.2C/j.C against an aired opponent, landing, and getting a free 3B/6B without having to think.
And then half the people wouldnt even be able to combo anyways, Lilica could still do 2A2BC 236aB 236C into loop, but Heart would only be able to do 2A2B2C 236A 236A+B, and Saki, well, she couldnt really do much of anything. Yoriko couldnt do ANYTHING except single hits and power up, but without HC, she could never get in a good enough position to power up in the first place.
All in all, it would make some things broke and even more not fun. =P
Man Henry, I hope you’re reading this, there’s offically two spots on the EC now that have MBAC:verB and GGXAC. AH is an awesome game that got hype out of NOWHERE, but really don’t stop with AH, please.
Out of nowhere? AH is the third most popular arcade game in Japan after Gundam Seed Destiny and GG:AC. T5: DR is the 4th, Melty 5th, VF5 6th, 3S 7th. (These are all according to the arcadia that came out like, today/yesterday) Needless to say, if its more popular than Tekken, VF, and Third Strike, it isn’t really an “out of nowhere” game. Maybe in the states i guess, but it should say something about it if its doing so well, haha.
Of course I’m not talking about Japan, that’s obvious.
Here in the states the hype really did come out of nowhere. I mean the MB crew got flak for playing a game ‘full of girls’ and ‘lolis’ that’s for ‘anime fags’ and not original because it feels too much like Guilty Gear.
Then AH comes out of nowhere, is 100% full of girls and lolis, has every anime cliche in the damn book, and more or less borrowed system mechanics from other games anyway (I swear it’s loli-HNK, seriously go make another comparison between the two) outside of its mobility with dashing / homing cancels.
Does that mean AH doesn’t deserve it’s hype? No, of course not, it’s alot of god damn fun, and it is something new. It’s just crazy to see some people who you’d NEVER associate with this type of game to be all over it, and then have folks traveling for it and what not.
I mean if it was MB:AC instead of AH, would it be getting the same hype? I don’t know. MB:AC got plenty love at TGA, and I’m sure it will at Philly too, so I’m just jumping back and forth really, in hopes that people still want to play MB:AC even with the new kid on the block, so to speak.
In Austin, we just change around right now since it’s casual, but we definitely think of it like 3S Super Arts and are planning on treating them as such once we get enough people playing to have tournaments. Take that as you will.
Yes a ton of bricks off of me:lovin:
Gawd thats it? do you get invincibility until you land?
Stupid questions for <3Nana:
How does one do safe falls?
And you said to hold D when being wall slammed to tech out?
Another question, if you’re in the middle of a combo and you just press D, what do you get?
ALSO HELP US FIND IMAGES FOR THIS GAME~
I am not HeartNana so if this is wrong, he can correct me D:
I’ve been tapping D when I hit the ground to safe fall, but maybe I’m also holding a direction (don’t know if that’s a requirement though). I dunno, I just started doing it all of a sudden lol.
What do you mean by the 2nd question? Like when you’re getting combo’d, or when you’re doing the combo?
I’m certain I’ve been using A & B to ground tech, but obviously I’d like to get THE EXPERTS IN on the matter.
And in the second question it’s just if I’m in the middle of a combo on the other guy and I just do NEUTRAL D what happens? I’ve seen combos with Fiona (in the air specifically) that have 5D in it and I’m like ZUH?
5D is like neutral homing cancel aint it
they just float up a few pixels
I thought they float down a few pixels
also hey woof how areyou
