The Official Custom Arcade Sticks Thread

^ Okay thanks FMjaguar, I didnt know that! I know that one of my friends had the same prob and it was a solder joint. Oh well I guess you cant know it all sometimes!

haha lexan, you should have read my first few posts…

Hey,

I would like to know where else I can find Lexan. I tried my Home Depot and the people there don't even know what it is. I went to a glass shop and boought my last piece which is 13x17 inches for $25. A rip-off but I couldn't find anywhere else. If I can even mail-order it, I would. If anyone knows of a place in the Chicago area, let me know. This place I went to was pretty far, but I'm willing to drive. Thanks for any and all who reply.

I finished my stick last night and it kicks ass!! I used the Mad Catz hack that I got from here http://members.cox.net/joysticks/ and it worked great! Kevin(who made the site) was really cool with any questions I had. It came out at least as great as I thought it would and I had really high hopes.

Re: haha lexan, you should have read my first few posts…

I had a hard time tracking it down at Home Depot too. It was in the isle with doors/screen doors. It was filed away like books on edge so it was hard to see. The shit worked great. If I were you I would go up and down those isles and hunt it down. It sounds like someone really tried to shaft you on the price of the 13x17 piece.

EMERGENCY!

Im working on my joystick right now, and im trying to cut the holes in the wood for the buttons but need a template. I went to kevins website and hes got a template there, but its formated to big for me to print on my printer. Can anyone email me a template or direct me to a template that I can print on a normal sheet of paper? Thanks in advance!

Nevermind the template. I got it. Here is a picture of what ive done so far. I still have to get it painted or something…

he hasnt gotten the L and R working has he? ALso, Do U HAVE to connect the two pins for the LR or can u just LEAVE them alone since it seems they cant be wired?

Re: haha lexan, you should have read my first few posts…

Go find the guy that works in the section that cuts the plexiglass, they have it those people just dont know wtf they are talking about.

No, I did it exactly how he has it on his site. I took off the L/R buttons and soldered across 2 of the 3 points. I don’t care much because I’m not going to use mine for anything other then Street Fighter games. It works great and wasn’t hard to build. I guess it’s possible to leave them on there but they stick off of the back of the baord so mounting it will be a pain in the ass.

ok i need some help here. I am lookin at the site with the Live being soldered and all. I cant figure out his instructions inrelation to the wires and such. WTF? I am lookin at my board now and I cant figure out exactly what it is he did. Can anyone tell me exactly?

new sticks

made with regular dc pad… p360s

ant one you think i can get the image file for that dudley overlay, plus the dimensions of that box? thanks.

if any1 is selling any sticks. i’ll buy.

If you are talkin about the Mad catz hack I can help. You need to be more specific with your questions though. What wiring is confusing you? The headset piece? The buttons and Dpad? If you post more specific Q’s I can help.

LB, I did a madcatz xbox hack today, and the pcb has changed since you made your page. The solder points for back and start are no longer there. You actually have to scratch your own points and junk. The crossbar was correctly mapped on the one that I did, and like you, I sacrificed an old Dreamcast hack to do it.

A few notes for anyone that is doing it.

If you are using one of the old dreamcast hacks with 2 grounds, you are going to have to rewire the joystick with a common ground.

I ended up leaving the triggers on the pcb intact. I have not have the problem that LB had.
