My bad! haha Okay here Ill post my plans, then tell you what material I used, I didnt think anyone would want to copy them lol. Okay I used a performance controller and a eb digital edge, both of which are easy to wire.
I got all of my bolts and from home depot
I used 3/4 inch plywood, and spraypaint.(home depot)
Lexan Cover,(I hate plexi broke three friggin pieces trying to make one) ( home depot 24.99 for enough to make 5+ sticks)
I used a 90 degree clamp (6.99) and I screw the bottom and front and back together (see plans.) I then I set in on the sides and glue it to the side, then glue the other side together. The Only thing that is screwed together is the front and back to the base, everything else is held together with professional strenght carpenters glue ( after you glue them together its a good idea to run glue in all the seams so its extra strong. accept the bottom, I dont like the top of the stick to move so I glued it to the base, I dont really like the ones with hinges on top, but thats just me) I just used glue because I figured the stick doesnt have to be strong enough to support me standing on it!

Here are the assembly instructions for the plans I made
Oh and if you want to make a Xbox stick from the plans I have I would advise making the stick at least 1-2 inches deeper in every way, because my stick fit a ps controller fine, but it was kind of tight getting a dc controller in the one I made, I had to rest it diagonally on the jstick! haha Scrubby I know but it was my first one, so you want to make sure you have plenty of room.

Between me and a friend I went and bought and x-arcade it sucked ass till I changed the pushbutton and joys. I went and installed competitions of each but I wonder, has anyone been able to succesfully able to put perfect 360’s on that mofo?
Still looking for info on PS2 Dual Shock wiring if anyone can help. I spend some time with a meter and the controller taking a look. I can activate any button shorting the line on the main ribbon cable connector to ground which should bode well for connecting pushbuttons to the stick. If anyone can explain pins 10, 11, or 12 on that connector, it would be wonderful. 10 and 12 carry 3.3v, while 11 carries 2.8. 11 is also connected to the left stick via a resistor.
Also, a question on the Perfect 360’s. They require 5v to operate. The main power into the PS2 Dual Shock is only 3.3v. There is however a voltage regulator on the larger feedback motor which outputs 7.8v. Will connecting 7.8v to a Perfect 360 be a problem?
You would have to make a plug in the wall for the 5 volt connection, so It would be a pain in the ass. Or at least from what Ive heard it doesnt have a 5 volt lead on it.
^ It serves no purpose other than making things easier to wire, and it makes it neater, and if you ever need to add or replace anything it makes it easier. So if you make a mistake you dont have to rewire anything, or if you want to add buttons you dont have to rewire anything. (Also I seem to always have trouble getting around the wiring when I am trying to get the buttons wired) I like to use them because it keeps it neat, To me wiring directly to the PCB is harder than doing it with a strip. But, if you dont want it neat or dont want to bother with the extra effort, then no it serves no purpose.
yo, consider me fuckin ignorant to all of this shit. i just ordered an x-arcade stick but ive heard the buttons and joystick are shit. i went to happcontrols to find a good replacement joystick and buttons. ive never been there, the site is too big and all i could find were like internal cabinet parts. can someone please throw me a link to a decent joystick/buttons page, preferably one i can order from? ive heard good things about the competition joystick so im tryin to find that. and yes im a lazy bastard. i hate computers. peace
There is a search bar on the side, type JOYSTICK, and get a joystick I recommend the Comp. Good bang for buck. Go to the bar again type PUSHBUTTON look around, most people use comp or ultimates, I again like comp buttons.
Perfect 360’s seem to getted knocked in favor of other sticks for the price, but they’re on sale for $24.99 until 3/31 if anyone didn’t know. That’s ~40% of normal price.
What do you use to drill the holes in the lexan? I’m about to start making my box and I don’t want to ruin the piece that I have. Do you use the same bit you drill the wood with? Thanks.
I’ve been reading up on this thread and board for a while now and I definately want to just make my own stick so I know exactly what’s in it and how it will perform. And if it sucks then I know it was my fault and can live with it.
I want to be able to use this stick with the PS2 and Xbox. Has anyone figured out how to do this or what have you done to accomplish this? I do have an x-connection for the Xbox where I can use my PS2 controller for it. So I guess that could narrow it down to making the stick for the PS2 and get away with worrying about adding something to the stick to work for the Xbox. I have not yet found anything on this to my knowledge, but if it has, I’m sorry for bringing this topic up again. Any help would greatly appreciated. I would like to order my parts here soon and get working on it. Thanks
Yes, you can use the same drill you use for wood. Plexiglass is different in that you use the same drill bits though you have to be MUCH more careful as it can crack. Lexan is great in that you can treat it just like wood and it will not crack. The minus is that Lexan scratches more easily than Plexiglass, so keep that paper stuff that the Lexan comes with on until you are ready to place it on the stick. Work with the paper side up also (if it not on both sides). By the way, where did you get it and how much did you pay for how large a piece? I am l;ooking for a cheaper place to find Lexan.
does anyone have any pics for hacking the gamester arcade stick for the xbox? i saw in another thread that this was super easy to do but i’ve never made a stick before so pics would be a huge help.
Thanks for the info. I got the Lexan at Home Depot. The pieces I got were 11x14 and I paid about $3 a sheet. The had larger sizes but I am building mine about 10x14 so it was perfect size.
^ I tried lexan after failing with plexi, I havent scratched where you can see it anyway, and its tougher than Mr. T.
Oh some people where asking about drilling holes so I am going to suggest a spade bit and this bit in particular. I hate those scrubby walmart spades, go to home depot and buy a 1+1/8th and drill that shit down. here is a good one to buy, because it cuts smooth even with a hand drill.
I cant get a picture of it online but its called a speedbor spade bit, its like 3.00 I think, and just so you noobs know a good spade bit should have spikes on the edge of it to help guide it and help it cut smooth. If you get one like that it will cut the lexi like butter and it will be much prettier than a walmart bit set. Its also cheaper just to buy the one you need.
I have set up arcade controls wired to a Playstation controller then having the PS controller to a Dreamcast converter so I can play SF3 (amoung other things) on my cabinet.
There seems to be some delay in doing moves. Its not super noticable, but there is some definite difference when I play.
Has anyone ever experienced move delay when setting up their sticks?
