wowā¦that was so FUNNY!
manā¦i was laughing so hard!..
pfftā¦but im serious, i looked through all those links and still didnt find anything, can you atleast be cool bout this and gimme the link to a dreamcast controller thing?
Okay⦠since I guess youāre having a hard time following up someting in those links or something else, just ask your questions here and theyāll be answered.
ok,i found the siteā¦now all i need is a madcatz controller, i have a regular dreamcast controller.
Question: Is there anyway to make a arcade stick FROM an arcade stick? I have a REAL (brandname is REAL) arcade stick, and Ive been wondering if i could.
and the shipping is total bullshit! 99 cents for a Cherry Microswitch and the shippin is freakin 6.81! horse shit! If anyone has a spare Microswitch, ill be glad to buy it off them.
It is possible to gut a store bought arcade stick from itās enclosure to put a Happ stick of your choice in it. I did one with mine and put a Happ Super in it. Mine was a āFighterās Choiceā stick for the PS. Sometime I need to get the base re done so I have a form fitting base instead of the awful one I have there right now. I was using a jigsaw on particle board and had an extremely difficult time cutting it. Basically, you want to trace the shape of the Happ stickās enclosure on a piece of paper, then fit it to the hole where the factory stick was. Now youāll mark where youāll be drilling the holes at to secure your Happ stick of choice. (360s, Competitions, Supers). After that, youāll rewire the old joystickās wires to the microswitches using the diagram below.
http://www.arcadecontrols.com/arcade_wiring.shtml
The base of the boards need to have a hole big enough for the Happ stick of choice to extend down to and for the entire stick enclosure to stand up correctly. I left the buttons in mine as they were because I didnāt feel the need to replace them. Hope that helps.
Yes. Just rip out the circuit board (be sure to remember what buttons connected where), and use that board in the new stick that you get.
ok, so i

made first stickā¦
wasnāt as GOOD as i thought it would turn out to beā¦
ordered parts from happ controlsā¦
first off, the ultimate joystick did not have the heavy spring installed, nor did i know that there was such thing =P⦠lol
i though it would be the same as the arcade, but it was weak as URKELā¦
anyways⦠took me three days to doā¦
suggestions for first timersā¦
GET LEXAN!!!
if you wanna work with a plexiglass kind of cover⦠i found it almost as durable as wood (i used the same wood boring drill that i used on my particle board to drill 1 & 1\8 holes⦠and NO CRACKS⦠=) ) get the VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTIBLE kind at a local hardware store like Home Depot⦠and if available, get it custom cut⦠itās a bitch to do yourself⦠i know⦠about 3.70 per sheet⦠trust me the sheets are big enough.
do the soldering before worrying about the box itselfā¦
its easier making the box than soldering, thats the main thing to worry about.
order parts FIRST before you do any buildingā¦
you need to know how big the buttons are actually in real life and how you can place them physically on your box
ideal partsā¦
small brass hinges⦠better than those L-brackets⦠you can bend them.
small carriage bolts⦠for authentic joystick feel, use those to hold down the stick.
get a SANDER definitely⦠hehe⦠i had so many UNEVEN angles and jagged edges!
a dremel sand bit will work alright, but itās not that evenā¦
hopefully i could scan or take digipics of my stick asap⦠canāt think of anymore things to write.
questions or comments⦠respond this msgā¦
thanks to rotendo⦠everyone else that makes arcade sticks⦠and end the horror of the infamous shadowblade⦠heh⦠tha phuk kinda shtick is thad shid?:lame:
made first stickā¦
ok, im gonna buy the hap buttons, and im gonna get 6 of them, and where can i get the LEXAN bords?
what kind of buttons did you use? like side and blah blah blah, and yeah, and how long does it take to ship?
Sanwa Parts
Iām not sure where you heard that Sanwa doesnāt ship internationally but they do.
Very interested in hearing about peoples attempts with ps2>xbox convertors. Does no one have a stick for an xbox? Any info on this will be great appreciated. If itās not possible Iām going to have to break down and buy the x-pcb. Any other suggestions?
Someone gave this link earlier in the thread for the DC controller wiring. Make note of the 5VDC wire for the 360 (if youāre getting a Happ Perfect 360).
http://mc.pp.se/dc/controller.html
Microswitches are already built onto the buttons and Happ stick enclosures so need to worry about that.

besides all the gold cherry switch bullshit⦠i think paying over 15 bucks for a joystick is crajee⦠but if your money says āGOODBYEā all the time⦠then listen to itā¦
u need at least 8 buttons⦠start select⦠riii?
i dunno where the CAPCOM BUTTON layout is on this sticky (prolly like on pg 2 or 3) but use that for your drill guideā¦
