Thanks for the link, The prices look good:wgrin:
Iāve got one of the grey and yellow namco sticks, but I fear it might not last forever. The thing is, I love having the little buttons at the top for start/select/L1/L2, and I havenāt seen any maker that uses similar buttons, nor have I seen any for purchase. Did I miss something or are they really impossible to find?
Is there a way to adjust the tension on a stick, or are different brands different tensions? The stick that came with tekken 5 is really loose and I canāt stand it, so I wouldnāt want to end up with on like that.
thanks in advance
Do a Namco mod with sanwa or semitsu parts. There is a tuturial in the tech section with examples from other people.
Are 24mm sanwas and 30mm sanwas different in any way other than size? Do they feel different in any way?
could someone link me to a Happ Template?
Thanks
Am I the only person that scoffs at standard templates and designs the joystick/button placement based on what I think makes the most sense?
I do the same thing, sorta. The first time I made an american-style stick I used the lexan from the top of the Anniversary Edition stick but I moved the placement of the joystick back and closer to the buttons, put the start/select buttons on the back of the stick instead of the top, and changed the location of the buttons relative to each other just a little; I created a template out of that and use it on my american sticks. The first time I made a japanese stick I looked at one of those online templates as guides, but I ended up doing things a little differently.
Thereās no reason to just go with a template. Make sure that the layout of the buttons and stick is something that your hands can work well with.
Thereās certainly nothing wrong with designing your own templates (a lot of the guys over on the BYOAC forums do exactly that), but scoffing at time tested templates is a waste of energy. The american layout was designed by capcom I think, and itās a great universal template for a lot of different games. The same thing with the japanese layout. People use it because it works and itās very comfortable. Use what works for you.
sooooooo, iāve been wondering, would any of you guys possibly make me an arcade controller? Iāve played 2d fighters since i was like 6, now iām 19 . recently my crappy street fighter anniversary arcade controller broke, and iām looking to get a way higher quality controller, and i figure what a better way then to ask a pro? iād obviously be paying for all the parts and your labor, just come into contact with me or over AIM, my screen name is Finkatizeme, we can discuss prices whenever.
Check the trading outlet, thereās a ton of people there that will make you one.
I know your going to laugh at my face but, where would i find that?
EDIT: yea nvm i found it, sorry for being a newbie
If youāre logged in you should be able to see them. Theyāre under the EVO section for me.
So Iām curious, is it really necessary to top mount a joystick if youāre using plywood?
Depends on how thick your plywood is.
I was thinking of either 1/4 or 3/8 thick
If you are using japanese sticks, I wouldnāt bottom mount on anything thicker than 1/4". A bottom mounted Sanwa with 1/4 - 3/8" of wood and lexan (combined) reduces the height of the joystick to around the normal height of a Seimitsu ls-32, from what Iāve seen.
But there wonāt be any more problems with the case falling apart than if the stick was top mounted?
Anybody knw anything about doing SNES sticks? I have a pelican pad that i just hate, but its a good controler.
Can you use basicaly the same method for other PCBs? Just wire the buttons to the hot spots?
Also whats the SFII templat? Iāll probubly do my own button set up but it would be nice to the know the button set up for the game anyway.
Thanks
