i had these on my pc, not sure if they wer what you were looking for, but yeah lol
also, if you are making a snes stick, it is the same with the solder points, but im not sure about the pad you are using, so you may have to solder each individual ground wire :S
but the buttons should be like this for street fighter default controls
(Y)(X)(L)
(B)(A)®
Thank you very much Penpoii. I figure i just need to open up the pad to see whats inside but i figured it wouldnt hurt to ask. Also thanks for the Template. Thats just what i was looking for.
Seems your links dont work though. Might be my end though. Something about not being able to connect through that socket. Dunno never seent hat response befor.
I’ve read a few tutorials on various sites but I still feel quite unsure of exactly what is required to make an arcade stick.
BUMP
"Am I right in thinking that, basically, you could just take an Xbox pad, soldering iron off the existing wires and then just attach your own buttons and stick with fresh solder. This would then be placed into either a custom or a pre-existing case, with the original connecting wire coming out of the back and into the Xbox.
Assuming that I have the skill to achieve this, is that all I’d have to do? Just buy a 3rd party Xbox pad, 8 buttons and a stick, miscellaneous parts like screws and maybe extra wires, tools such as the soldering iron, solder, screwdriver and wire stripper, and then some shitty arcade stick to loot the case…?"
Do I do these same process but instead with a Xbox 360 controller if I want to make a X360 arcade stick right?
I am somewhat confused by the mixed suggestions in here.I know that the box is a matter of taste and personnal preference. But once and for all. What are the recommended materials to use and the recommended sizes for Happ competition stick and buttons. The smallest possible really because otherwise making a big wooden rectangle isnt really hard…Thanks for ANY help.
For Happ competition stick and buttons, the top panel works well around 1/4"-1/2" thickness. Any lower and the stick will jut out way too much, and any wider and the stick will seem too short (in my opinion anyhow).
MDF, particleboard, just any kind of durable wood works fine. MDF is a good choice for the top because it’s easy to work with, but if you make the whole thing out of MDF it’ll be pretty heavy.
how far off the bottom do you suggest?Apperently the joystick sometimes rubs the bottom so any ideas there?I made my own measurements that i think would possibly work best for me.But i just want to make sure there’s nothing i’m overlooking
Happs should have concave buttons (ultimate pushbuttons)
^I prefer the convex buttons over the concave ones because it is a lot easier to perform slide infs and other moves in games like MvC2 without fucking my hands up where as with the ultimate pushbuttons, they stick up higher and are rough on the hands.
As far as the space distance from the base of the joystick and the bottom of the box, I give it an inch or more, but it’s all preference on how tall you want your stick to stand.
I see. Looking at the happ site again, i see they do sell concave buttons, but they are labeled as “ultimate” and NOT “competition”.
Since i used a competition stick, i thought it was only right at the time to have competition buttons too. Competition seems to come in convex only though.
Well i like both types i guess, perhaps convex a little more as they seem a bit easier to hit.
It doesn’t really matter… The response is the same (only difference is the type of microswitches used) <standard or you can pony up the extra cents for the copper types.
You can interchange the top ‘lids’ of the bottons if you are trying to conserve box space. What I mean is using the ultimate buttons with the competitions casing… don’t know anyone who would want to use ultimates for their arcade sticks, but hey, their stick and preferences.
what do you guys do for art work on a custom stick? what do you print it on? what do you use to print? i have a high resolution image i want to use, mostly blue with some color. i do plan on using lexan to cover it.
