Quick question on the "Installing an MC Cthulhu and Imp in an Xbox 360 SF4 SE stick"
The pics don’t show the usb only points connected. I’m trying to do the mod now and just wanted to know
If going with the MC Cthulhu+Imp in a SFIV TE Stick with the option of the RJ-45 mod does the usb only points have to be soldered together…?

Won’t it be difficult to get to with the diode in the way?

10 Stars: Check the welcome sheet linked to in the first post. VCC is the power that should go to the red wire on the p360.

ecksnine: No problem, be careful with your drill in the future.

Bernie: Thanks for the link, I appreciate it.

Christ my feet hurt.

Finally got my arcade case in, was getting ready to set it up, then it dawned on me I didn’t have either a backplate or harness Sanwa stick. Ugh, hopefully I can order them tomorrow without much delay D:

On a different note, how does one end up installing the wires onto the board? I understand the fact that there needs to be a ground wire and one for each button and stick, but how do you know what goes into what slot? And where does the ground wire plug into? Trying to figure this out and have gotten completely confused, and I couldn’t find an article anywhere (including using the search function) which explained it.

Any help would be appreciated. D:

Just got done with the MC Cthulhu & Imp while watching the NBA Finals rerun on TNT
Took my time now on to modding the TE STick please let me know if the solder connection points are not good enough
Just wanted a second opinion on the whole job just to make sure
I usually always run into mistakes thats why i take these projects slower than most

Mmmmm, just wondering, if is it possible in a 360 madcatz TE stick, use the own Stick USB wire for the dual mod (360, ps3) and avoid extra wires/jacks/drill holes on the case?

Is it possible to accomplish with just the MC Cthulhu + Imp combo?

Quick Disconnect problems

Hey modding nation:

I hope I’m posting this in the right thread. I’m in the process of putting in a MC cthulhu and an imp board into my 360 TE stick. However, I can’t seem to dissconnect all the wires from buttons. I keep pulling on them and tugging them but they won’t come off. I’ve tried to loosen with a screw driver but so far I’ve only gotten three buttons disconnected and I’ve been trying off and on for two days. Does anyone have any ideas on how get these wires to come off the quick disconnects? Any help would be greatly welcome and appreciated.

Yes you can use the usb that comes with the stick that’s what the Imp Board is for
You dont have to drill holes into the case some members have used scotch/electrical tape to hold the 2 boards down to the stick. As far you wanting to cutdown on wires you can use the screw down terminal for the Cthulhu

I was going thru this last night just use needle nose pliers and gently tug on the flat piece of metal between the connector and wire
Like this

Can anyone respond to my previous post about my soldering job just need a second opinion…?

Order sent!

Oh shit, didn’t see that, thanks! I was mostly worried that certain wires had to go in certain places on the board!

Thank you for the pictures. I’m thinking of ways I could make the connections not as tight so it’s not so hard to slip them on and off. I was thinking about using wd-40. Is this a good idea or am I not thinking far enough ahead and will this screw something up later? What do you think?

I finally got my mc cthulhus wired up for my arcade cab project. Some photos are here:

One odd thing is that I’m using an amplifier from an old ps2 stand I dug up outta the closet.

I’m outputting dsubs so I can use my existing upcb cables. I have ps2 and usb for both players—I plan on using the usb for ps3 and xbox1. Here are the issues:

  1. Xbox1 doesn’t work at all—both boards. PS3/PC works fine in both boards. I’m using the same spots on the boards for xbox1 and usb, and the wiring for gnd, vcc, d+, and d- match in my console cables. Any thoughts?

  2. In ps2 mode, I have to re-connect the controller after selecting a game in AE. Otherwise it works fine. This applies to both boards.

Overall, they’re great little boards, and I’m very happy with them.

Needed a quick answer Noob question
I got an MC Cthulhu Kit & Imp Board put together
Getting ready to solder the wires to the 360 PCB
Rep from radioshack gave me the wrong wires
Will Enamel Coated Magnet Wire work for soldering…?
It has no insulation

Xbox1 doesn’t currently autodetect like the others do. I haven’t had time to delve into it, but I have an idea for that. For the time being, you have to hold left on the stick when plugging in for Xbox1.

I will look into this.

Technically, it could be made to work, but it’d be more of a pain in the ass than just getting better wire. Radio Shack carries 22 gauge stranded wire, which would work tons better and easier.

Thanx I’m there 2morrow will be going to another Radioshack since the other one carries Kynar wire

wow toodles i really dont think you could have made the cthulhu kit any easier to assemble. Great Job

quick question, does the cthulu support using 4 leds to show which controller its assigned to for PS3? I know its not necessary but it would be kind of neat to be able to add some lights to my stick.

Hey toodles,
Whats the weakest point on the MC Cthulhu board and Imp or wheres the best place to start checking for errors when the MC Cthulhu and Imp stop working cause just recently I added 360 MC Arcade PCB to my Cthulhu with the Imp and I ended up getting confused on how to set up home button for the 360 and soldered and desoldered till I wore out the copper connection on the 360 PCB well finally I figure out the trace location and fix the point and fixed the home button but then as I was readjusted the pcb’s it just stops working on both systems I had it working on both systems for a couple of days minus 360 home button but now nothing works and I have checked all my wires minus desoldering the wires connecting the 3 boards whats the most common falure with the cthulhu? Do I need to replace a chip or something is there any way to check the chip’s or the PCB or the stuff
Thanks for your time
