Any word on Cthulhu re-stocks for ModChipMan, made a pre-order with them and it’s almost been a month… not sure what’s happening. LizardLicks updated with a Cthulhu re-stock estimate for the 20th, so maybe a similar time frame for ModChipMan?
Just can’t wait to build my stick, got everything ready but the board! XD
Anyways nice to have you back Toodles, and good luck on your presentation!
MCM has an order in that should go out to him on Monday. LizardLick has been burning through boards faster than I could get to him during my finals crunch, but I hope the box I send to him on Monday will get him covered for quite a while.
I just notice something strange with my dual pcb mod. When in 360 mode, I can turn on the console by holding the start button (guide button also works too). Everything works fine though. Also placed an order for some cthulhu boards. Look forward to working with them
yea toodles id prefer not soldering and, an would i be better off getting the assembled MC Cthulhu board, including screw terminals and USB jack: $45 and will have the same results as the assembled ps3 board correct? one other question an prob sounds dumb but can i use AXISdapter fully assembled and solder-free kit on my 360 se stick to duel mod it?
Thanks Toodles… never thought I’d be building a custom stick. I have an interest in electronics and whatnot but suck at soldering, Cthulhu was like a ray of light or something.
I wonder if there’s anyone who sells true multi-console solderless Cthulu boards (aka pre soldered).
I know and understand Toodles does not but When I did my ps2 stick my soldering looked like a warcrime and ended up shorting out to the point where the PCB is burned out. then again this would be to either:
A. mod my SE to be multi
or
B. get my Happ stick to actually work. Then again I have a PS to GC converter and my SE works as a good PC stick.
I guess option a would be more likely but I believe some soldering is needed for that as well. Especially if X-arcade can get their fricking act together and that new 360 adapter of theirs works out (then I could put that board in my Happstick… and sadly replace the stick with something Japanese because I now heart square gates).
Good stuff. Can you check the bottom of the board? What you’re looking for is the pad that pin 24 went through; I’m curious if it looks any different from the other ones beside it?
actually i just looked closely again, yes pin 24 looked like there is no pins protruding the solder point, just the solder blob, i don’t know if you can see it but, it shows in this picture.
Check out fourth row from the top and pin no 5 from the left ( pin24) , just a blob but no pins seems to be comming out
Yup, I was afraid of that. You see the fine line connecting that to one of the legs of the yellow resistor pack? If you can connect a fine wire from the chip pin you were testing to that resistor leg, you’d have a fully functioning one. But, a not-yet-fully-functional one isn’t what you paid for, so I’ll get a replacement out to you in Monday’s mail. You’re free to keep that one and use it if you can, or junk it; your call.
Hello Toodles, im planing to purchase a MC Cthulhu board.
I have a problem whit my case, they have drilled only one holle for a cord, i like to put in the board all the cables for all the consoles suported.
The most practical thing in my case is drill another holes, but i dont have any type of tools for this work, and i have zero skills also…
Im just thinking to conect the buttons and joystick to a custom cable whit a DB15 conector.
Conect the cable to a project box whit the Cthulhu Board
4 Cables will exit from the Project box to the consoles.
With this idea do you think i have a input lag or something? Do you think is a good solution for my problem?
My english is not very good i dont know if i explain good my idea, i will post a picture.
Thanks!
Edit:
I forgot to mention one thing…
My case doesnt have the 3 dedicated buttons (select, start, home) only have start and select, its possible to activate the home button when i press start+select whit any type of modification?
The method you described would be sloppy, and prone to error. However, it can work.
What I would recommend is for you to hunt down a single cable that has PSX, GC, and Xbox1 ends, like the Pelican Universal arcade stick. You can install that one cable, and buy an Xbox->USB adapter for playing on PS3 and PC. This solution would fit your needs for a single cable coming out of the stick, and all you to play on all of the supported consoles.
Hey toodles, quick question. I don’t have a select button on the stick I’d like to mod with a Cthulhu board, just ABCXYZ Start (it’s a dreamcast stick). Could I wire start + another button (say, High Punch) to bring up the home screen? Thank you so much!
