The official Cthulhu and ChImp thread - Try our new Dreamcast flavor!

Dang, that does look nice cpt.

Have people commonly done that direct linking of multiple PCBs? I was about to do one and thought I was being kind of creative. Guess not.

So can the Xbox 360 PCB use the same USB connector as the Cthulhu/PS3 PCB?

P.S. It will be amazing when the Cthulhu is PSX compatible.

sigh Im working on it

Nice work zombie. Triple console support. Too good.

Woohoo!! Thanks Toodles! My PCB has arrived! Safe and sound with good packing materials.

I picked up one of the fully assembled versions as I am too new to soldering and stick building in general. Quality work! Never in a million years would I be able to solder as nicely as it is soldered right now. Hereā€™s a pic, sorry but I used my stinky iPhone camera:

Will be making up a thread with better photos once I have all my parts ready to assemble.

Sorry dude, but reallyā€¦ everytime to you do something amazing or add a feature, people will always want more more more!!!

But yeah, as soon as this baby has PSX support I will 100% buy it, then I will put a 360 pad right on it too! Making it the ultimate PCB for sticks.

Thanks again dude, your shiz is off the chain no doubt.

P.S. Can I work for you? I would love to work for a genius.

I just got confirmation that it does in fact work just fine on 64bit Vista. No drivers, no nothing, just plug in and play.

I got one of the kits heading my way Toodles. Got a customer that this is a perfect fit for.

I have one on the way too. I picked up the kit since I really donā€™t need the jacks, and I can solder it together myself.

Inspired by this post: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showpost.php?p=5593255&postcount=693 I also picked up http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=320304934835 (99 cents!) Iā€™ve got a spare controller board soā€¦ Itā€™s just a matter of hacking it. I donā€™t need the SNES port, but iā€™ll probably solder on a connection to the +5v so I donā€™t blow the controller chip for SNES/NES capability.

crapcrapcrap.

I need a home button. Any thoughts? Iā€™m thinking the TURBO OFF button.

Time to whore out some picsā€¦

First off, zombie AMAZING work. Excellent job.
Second, you donā€™t like using the USB B cable?

What is a USB B cable? If you mean the square looking thing, then I canā€™t since I need to split up the data +/- cable for the DPDT switch.

Ah ok, that makes sense. I forgot you needed that for dual USB pcbā€™s.

Okay, I quickly hacked one of my other images to explain. Basically the PCB would be small enough to fit between the joystick and buttons in many layouts and have the connector facing the front of the controller. The layout of the PCB does not need to be the same as the image to achieve this; maybe the connector could be on the left side to center it better. And maybe the PCB could be narrow as to run lengthwise along the front of the controller with the connector facing out a long side. Iā€™m not sure how appealing others would find this.

Hey Slagcoin, I found this so you can place the Cthulhu board anywhere you want.

Hi Toodles.

Maybe its a bad cuestion right now, but im very interested to purchase one of the Cthulhu PCB, in how much time do you think the PSX support are complete?

What is the meaning of Cthulhu?

Check out some HP Lovecraft! :lovin:

If you want a Cthulhu board for PC and PS3, www.lizardlick.com has them, and you can order it immediately.

I do not know for sure when PSX support will be complete. I am very busy in school and havenā€™t had time to get the bootloader working yet. I donā€™t have an estimate yet.

Thank you for the interest.

For everyone:
An order went in on Friday for a LARGE batch of boards. It will probably be two weeks before they arrive, so there is a slight possibility both lizardlick and I will be out of stock for short period of time, but one that batch gets in, weā€™ll have plenty.

I think I found what im going to spend my birthday zenny on.

Toodles + Laugh = Godlike SRK

Ok, Iā€™m the first to admit that iā€™m a 100% electronic noob, so Iā€™m quite sure this is very simple to rectify.

My board arrived today (thanks toodles :)) and Iā€™ve been mucking about with my layout with buttons on cardboard, and I canā€™t get buttons 11 and 12 to workā€¦

Iā€™ve wired it up in a way that i ā€˜thinkā€™ is correct, but Iā€™m hoping someone can tell me Iā€™ve made a simple mistake and solve my problemā€¦

Itā€™s wired as belowā€¦
------------ USB-------------
Grnd ----------------------B10
B13------------------------B9
B8-------------------------B7
B3-------------------------B5
B2-------------------------Stick Grnd
B6-------------------------Stick Right
B4-------------------------Stick Left
B1-------------------------Stick Down
??--------------------------Stick Up
??--------------------------Surge!

I guess the ??'s are going to be the butttons Iā€™m after, but nothing registers with a button plugged into themā€¦

Can anyone advise please?

Cheers

This might help. Iā€™ve been including them in the package, but must have sent yours out before I started doing that.

Specifically, buttons 11 and 12 wont ever activate. They are read by the PS3 as the L3 and R3, the click when you press down on the analog sticks. No need to ever have those in a stick.
