I also had a question about this. Is there a USB to GC cables available or does a pad need to be sacrificed to get the cable from it?

Either sacrifice a pad or get an extension cable and cut off the female end. IIRC Toodles recommends the extension cable.

Yes, the MC Cthulhu works on every Wii game that supports the Gamecube controller; actual Gamecube games of course, plus VC games (tested on Zelda:LttP and SNES SF2:WW), and Wii games that support the GC controller (tested on TvC, Smash Bros Brawl, GG:AC)
If it is a Wii game that does NOT support the gamecube controller, like SamSho Anthology, then no, it won’t work on that game.

You can NOT use the pcb from an HRAP EX. It is not a common ground board and will not work. Please read through the ā€˜2 pcb’s in one stick’ thread and the ā€˜PSX+360’ thread from fsck; all of the information you could want is present in there. Ask any questions about it in there, but I cannot help directly with it; I have my hands full as it is, so this is really an ā€˜unsupported’ configuration. It is an advanced mod.

Yes, that’s exactly what it does, and it does not require drivers.

LizardLick has a shipment inbound that should arrive soon. If you can wait a couple of days, you’ll save yourself some shipping through him. (This is for the PS3 only version. For the multi-console version, for the time being, you need to go through me.)

I would suggest extension cables. I will have them available any day now as soon as they arrive (ordered last Friday), or you can hunt down one on your own. Any place you can get a cable from will work, but buying an extension cable to use is cheaper than buying a gamecube controller to sacrifice. Or wait and pay $5 with your order and I’ll throw a new extension cable in, but if you have a dead GC controller, you might as well use that cord. Your call.

Well, I sent you a message on Aim, but figuring that my account has finally gotten validated I would post here as well.

After skimming through the thread, this is what I’ve managed to scrounge together. For the MC Cthulhu board that would work on PS2/PS3/PC, and shipping to Canada would cost 56USD. Or at least, that’s what I’ve come to believe, I could just be going batty!

Also, as I don’t know much about it, what’s so special about the PSX extension cable?

And of course, what is your payment info? I read something about PayPal but I can’t find your information anywhere :open_mouth:

ok, thanks for the replies and since I’m not allowed to send PM’s yet I’ll go ahead and ask here:

if I wanted a PC/PS3 USB version only (going to use it on PC first but it’d be nice to have the PS3 option available) how would it cost me, including the shipment to Italy (I’m fine even if it takes 2~ weeks, whatever, as long as the package actually gets here intact)?

I got a PayPal account of course.

Yup, $45 + 11.

The $45 board comes with a jack for plugging in a USB cable, but does NOT come with any console cables. If you want to use it on PSX, you need to add a PSX cable to it. If you want to use it on GC, same thing. Ditto for Xbox. No cables are included.

If you have cables, say from a dead controller or spare extension cord or whereever, you can install them into the board when you get the board. Yes, soldering is involved, but its free.

If you don’t have a cable, and would rather buy one from me, no problem, add $5 for the cable. You’ll still have to solder it to the board. If you want to both buy a PSX cable from me, and have it installed in the board, that’s $5 for the cable and $5 for the installation.

Grand total for assembled board with PSX cable installed and international shipping to Canada: $66.

Thank you good sir, that’s just what I needed to know! Just put in the order through PayPal!

Stupid Canadian Currency being low…

If you’re okay will waiting, you may want to wait for LizardLick to get boxes in stock, which should be Thursday or so. Order some parts to go with it and you’ll be set. Except for urgent issues, orders should go through LizardLick unless you’re wanting to trade towards the board or want an MC Cthulhu. If you want just the PC/PS3 version, grab it from Lizard Lick.

Hey Toodles, check your Paypal

I don’t have enough posts to PM you, so could you message me on aim @ jstrong311 regarding a trade? Thanks!

I have my GC controllers for N64 virtual console games/Smash Bros Brawl and since first party Nintendo GC controllers are rare I will avoid sacrificing those.

I can picture what the female end of a USB cable looks like, but not the extension cable that Kaytrim described. A picture would really help me visualize it if there is any.

Though I cannot be picky since I have no stick building skills, I wanted to hope that I could possibly get Ed from Arcade in a Box or a custom builder to create such a thing; though thats a seperate issue since most people are too busy with handling orders caused by SF IV.

Can someone else field this one for me?

You wouldn’t be needing the female end. Here’s a pic of a GC extension cable I have.

I’m new to these boards and this is my first post, however I’ve read a little bit on here…

I have a question though.

I currently have a SF:AC joystick that I converted to work on Xbox360 a while back. Well now I have decided that I want to make it work on PS3 as well.

So today I ordered a Cthulhu board from lizardlick and hope to have it by the weekend when I can start wiring stuff up.

I have initially just figured I would have 2 USB cables coming out of my stick, 1 for the 360 input and 1 for the PS3 input. However that brings me to the reason I’m posting on this thread…

Is there anyway to wire up the Xbox360 guts to the Cthulhu board, which in turn is wired to the joystick and buttons, and have the PS3 and Xbox360 both work off of the same USB plug?

Look for the thread ā€œ2 boards in one stickā€ or something like that. Plenty of information there to do what you are asking. The key is that the 360 pad needs to be common ground. Again more information in the thread I have mentioned.

I’ve been keeping a pretty close eye on this thread, so I think I can answer this, given the information that’s been made available.

Using an Xbox 360 controller piggybacked isn’t quite that simple. There are currently two options:

  1. Have two separate USB cords or connections. One for the 360 controller and one for PC/PS3.

  2. Install a DPDT switch to swap the data lines on a single USB cable from the Cthulhu to the 360 controller. You could use one cable and flip a switch to go from PC/PS3 mode to 360 mode and vice versa.

There was a suggestion a while back that the Cthulhu could check to see if it’s plugged into an Xbox 360 as part of its startup and pass control to the 360 board. Toodles seemed interested at the time, but I don’t believe this feature made it in. I don’t know if it’s possible, but even if it does happen in the future, you’re still somewhat out of luck with the PC/PS3-only Cthulhu since its software can’t be user-upgraded without swapping out the PIC.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Yup, correct.
For details on how to use multiple common ground pcb’s together, check the ā€˜2 pcb’s in one stick’ thread Kaytrim mentioned.

This is completely incorrect. I’m sure it would be nice, but niether Cthulhu has anything close to this capability; never has and never will. The hardware to ā€˜detect’ which one is needed isn’t in either chip, and the ability to magically switch between the two is not possible without adding more chips ($$$$) to the board. This has not nor will ever be on the table for discussion.

I am trying to make as bulletproof and idiot proof a product as possible. I want it to be easy to use, easy to install, and just plain work without anyone having to think about it. That is why I cannot consider 'dual’ing a Cthulhu with another pad any kind of supported feature; there is no way I can be knowledgable about every single possible combination of pads.

The ONLY dual setup I will be assisting with is the installation of a Cthulhu into one of the new MadCatz SE and TE FightSticks. Obviously, it’s not out yet, so I can’t really be of any help now, but I’ll know that stick inside and out within a day of its release, and be able to assist others in the installation of Cthulhu’s into those and ONLY those sticks.

So, please:
-No more questions about using a Cthulhu in conjuction with any other pcb except for the MadCatz FightSticks
-No questions about using a Cthulhu in conjunction with a MadCatz FightStick until they are released

Lets say i want a 360 -> PS3 board soldered and ready to assemble. How much would it cost?

I’m getting a SE fight stick for 360 if that’s any concern…

Thanks for the pic. Now I clearly see what Toodles and Kaytrim are talking about how it can a lot more cost effective by cutting off the end.

Now the challenge is to find an ample supply of them
