The official Cthulhu and ChImp thread - Try our new Dreamcast flavor!

 … and you wrestled it from him or did you pay him 15$ for it ?

I’ll gladly send you my Wii Hori stick for one of these, just trying to figure out if the stick maker will be able to use this.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Hey Toodles, check your Paypal

Got it. Chips will be in the mail tomorrow.

I tweaked the detection code so it works like that three step thing I wrote earlier, and it works awesome. In the wii, PC, Pelican adapter, PS3, all of it. I’m very happy at the moment. I want to try one thing to see if I can make Xbox autodetect, but whether that works or not, I’ll be happy to call this a 1.0 release version.

Dude, I got automagic detect in!

Thanks again Toodles!

The board is perfect, really simple setup and does everything I could ask from it!

I found an asnwer to my own question about the PSX thing though… wasn’t trying to get the original board to go to a PSX just had a question about the PSX cable, but realized that’s not really relavant here…

Toodles, you mentioned something about a bootloader. Are these new chips updateable or is the code burn once only?

Michael

There is a bootloader, so the code is updateable over USB. Holding Start and Select when plugging in starts the bootloader. The PC client code and bootloader code is way different than what is on the UPCB. The bootloader is an HID device, so NO drivers, no driver signing issues. There’s a new bootloader client for the PC; its mostly a hack of one of the Microchip bootloaders, but much more streamlined and less scary than the current UPCB bootloader program.

I’ve been keeping an eye on this thread for a while now and I’m glad to see that the multiconsole Cthulhu’s are finally available.

I don’t have enough posts to send a PM, so I’ll ask here: Toodles, I’m interested in ordering two or three MC Cthulhu kits. Do I need to make any arrangements in advance or can I just Paypal you the cash and send my info along with it?

Also, there was mention earlier in the thread about NES and/or SNES support sometime down the line. Is that still a possibility?

Add it up, make sure to include shipping. If you’re not in the US, expect $13 for shipping, $5 in the US. Send a paypal and be very specific about what you want, and I’ll get it out ASAP.

As for NES and SNES, oh hell yeah, still doable. But I hope you’ll understand that I want to get feedback on the four systems currently in place first, and work out any kinks with those before adding more. But completely doable. Call it a ‘feature freeze’ for the time being. Once things look clear as-is, I’ll work on getting those added, and everyone will benefit with just a firmware update.

Oh, would this be a bad time to mention that the extra smash brothers modes from the UPCB Gamecube support are also in ?

Oh sure. I’m in no rush for the extra systems. I understand that it might take some time. Glad to know that development will be ongoing. I’ll probably send you the money and info in the morning.

Thanks for replying so quickly.

So if I get this upgraded Cthulhu board, solder a PSX cable onto it, and solder a madcatz 360 pad onto it, I would be able to use the Cthulu board on:

a) PS3
b) PSX
c) Xbox360
d) Dreamcast (with converter)
e) PC

Is this correct?

The only thing I can’t 100% vouch for is the pad you decide to hack for the 360 support, and the converter you use for the dreamcast. I can say that if you have a good common ground 360 pad, and do any of the extra needed crap you may have to do (like putting in the transistors to flip the triggers; some of the newer madcatz pads have triggers going backwards and need to be flipped to work right.) AND you get a DC converter that works with the MC Cthulhu (there is always the possibility of some po-dunk converter not working. I know for a fact the Innovation works great, but others might not; I hope folks will post up the stuff that has problems, and if sent me, I can make it work, but we’re talking out of the box here. I’m confident they should work, but can’t guarantee anything) then yes, all of those will work just fine.

So the total for a Fully assembled MC Cthulhu board w/ PSX cable pre-installed would be $60 after shipping? If so I will paypal you the $ and my shipping info asap ^__^. I wanna have this ready when I get my TE stick in.

Don’t know if you saw this a few pages back. I don’t really have the soldering skills to pull this off nor do I have the time. Please let me know.:wonder:

Correct. Make sure the address in your paypal is the right one, and include what you want as your custom USB string in the paypal.

Sorry, I can’t help with installations right now. The Madcatz released has me busier than you could believe. I’ll have instructions up as soon as possible. Even if you don’t want to try it yourself, there are a number of techs in trading outlet who could the work easily, especially after I put the instructions.

Alright, I might order the stuff from you next pay period. I’m just gonna stop being lazy and learn to solder. In the end it’ll do me good anyways.

would the new board also work on Wii? since it works with GC…

also, other than getting a converter to convert usb-> GC…what alternative do i have?

Thanks.

So i plan to piggyback the board with a 360 hrapex, dont really know what im doing. I just need to know where in the board i solder wires that go to the 360 board and where and what wires i need to solder/put together to share the usb cord (and if i really need a switch). Ive seen pics and entries about piggybacking with a 360 but never got any information that made me feel confident enough to feel that i will be doing the right thing. BTW, thank you toodles, order a board yesterday, i can’t wait.

I apologize for the seemingly dumb question but I’m still kinda a noob when it comes to custom-made arcade sticks and got linked to this thread from another discussion, let me quote my question:

Thanks in advance for your help.

EDIT: can I still purchase it on the lizardlick website or do I have to make an agreement with Toodles to get one?
