No sir, the ChImp board ONLY works for PS3/PC/Xbox 360.
And you need a 360 pad to make it work with a 360, donāt forget.
Hey Toodles,
Modded my 360 with the cthulhu and the imp board. works great!
just a problem on the sanwa buttons.
I was like struggling to pull off the connector and the whole black switch part with the copper connectors cracked and ripped off ><
The button is fine so i didnāt want to buy a whole new button, just wondering if you, or anyone knew where there was a place that sold JUST the switch. i checked lizard lick andits all just buttons. Which isnāt a problem but I donāt feel like having a perfectly good button sitting there.
thanks
I think akihabarashop.jp actually sells the switches.
Just find the type of button you want to replace and use the second drop-down menu near it. It should give you an option to buy the switch most of the time.
Check with either Gamingnow.net or Lizardlick.com. Iām sure one of them will sell you the switch itself but for what the cost is, I donāt see why not replace the whole thing?
The switch is maybe one dollar cheaper. You should probably just buy the button - youāll have an extra shell and plunger if you want to mix and match colors.
Yeah, heās right. Itās barely cheaper.
Iām currently in the process of restoring a Namco Arcade Stick and I wish to use an HRAP2 cord as it closely mimics the design of the original cord of the stick itself. Being that the MC Cthulhu only outputs from a USB A end, is there any way to take the cords from the HRAP2 and crimp them to a USB A end?
If you want to put in other systemsā cords onto the MC Cthulhu, thatās what that 8x3 set of holes near the USB connector is for. Try reading the tutorials on the first post that tell how to install various system cords onto the Cthulhu.
Hey Marcus,
I will be purchasing a few Chimp Boards and I have a couple of questions in consideration:
-Since the Chimp boards are going to be unassembled, will there be soldering diagram that will be provided along in the package?
-While assembling and soldering the Chimp Board, I was just wondering if the Chimp incorporate the same parts from the Cthulhu board and the Imp Board?
I look forward to your response.
The ChImp board is assembled exactly like the Cthulhu board except it has one more part, the 4066 chip. Same parts from the Cthulhu board too.
No, not yet. Follow the assembly instructable for the Cthulhu; the parts are the exact same, in the same spot, in the same orientation. The only additional is the 14 pin chip. Just solder the 14 pin socket with the notch matching the silkscreen, and insert the chip with the notch on the same end.
Yep. All Cthulhu components plus one 14 pin socket and a chip to go in it.
Quick question about the Chimp if you donāt mind:
Does the chimp support backwards compatibility on the PS3? For instance, if I were to toss a ps1 or ps2 game in there, would it work properly? Thanks in advance for the info. I ordered the 360 TE today and I need to decide between Cthulhu MC + Imp or Chimp.
Short answer: Yes
Long Answer: The Chimp code is 99% directly copied from the PS3 Cthulhu code, with the exact same capabilities. Cthulhu and Chimp both work 100% on PSX games on all PS3ās, and 100% on PS2 games played on PS3ās that support backwards compatability.
Short thank you: Thanks.
Long thank you: Solid info, I didnāt see that in the FAQ at the beginning but I may just have missed it. If I didnāt, thatās something everyone should know!
Hey, I tried searching to see if this problem has been mentioned before, but the new SRK search box is quite horrible - bring back the google box!
Anyways:
Recently finished installing a MC Cthulhu & IMP in a TE stick, but itās having problems with the PSX/2 side - the PS2ās (NTSC-J & PAL models) do not recognise the stick unless it is plugged in after the console has booted up, and the stick needs to be plugged back in again after a game disc has loaded before it is recognised (so you need to plug it back in twice before you can play).
Also, when tested on a PS2 (NTSC-US) with HDD, the console will not boot up at all and crash if the stick is plugged in before turning on. The console only boots up if the modded stick is unplugged, and once it has booted into HDD mode, the stick needs to be plugged in & out a total of 3 times before a game can be played.
There are no problems when using a pad or unmodded stick on these PS2 consoles, so whatās happening here? Is this a previously reported problem, and if so can it be fixed by a firmware update?
I donāt think itās a problem with how Iāve wired the stick as itās being fully recognised on a PC using a PS2 adapter, and once a game is loaded on a PS2 it also works perfectly.
Help!
Great!
Iāve already ordered 2 of the boards.
One last thing, Is the pin orientation (A-K, 1-11) the same as the Cthulhu board when dual modding the wires from the 360 controller?
For networkingyuppy:
@spektrum (or anyone actually)
For the invert points, do I run a wire just from the wiper point on the PCB to the chimp? Do I need to do anything with the high and low points?
Thank you very much Spektrum!
Time to dual mod as soon as I receive those controllers!
