Yup. The ‘How to assemble a Cthulhu’ instructable should cover everything except the 4066 chip; just make sure the little 14 pin socket has the notch in the same spot as thesilkscreen underneath, solder it in place, then insert the chip with the notch in the same end.
The everything in the Instructable about the orientation of the capacitors and the resistor array is the same, so double check and make sure you put them in the correct way the first time.
Stupid/Noobie question, is it easy to screw up the Cthulhu board while soldering? and what’s the best size of a soldering do i use? I can’t really explain it well. The point of the soldering tip. Sorry for the bad technical words.
It’s not easy to destroy the MC when soldering console cables to the board. That section is pretty damn easy to solder to, and pretty hard to mess up. Soldering to the unlabelled points for a dual mod is slightly more difficult, but if you’re worried about it, all of the unlabelled points are directly connected to the screw terminals. Just run the wires to the screw terminals instead. Soldering to a 360 pad is much harder than using the cthulhu.
It’s pretty hard to screw it up honestly, you might mess up soldering but you likely won’t break the board. I find that a smaller/pointier tip makes it easier.
Sorry about the huge noob question (I’m completely new to stick modding), but is the RJ45 jack necessary if I want to do the MC Cthulhu + Imp/Chimp mod? Just want to know exactly what it’s needed for and if there’s a big benefit to putting one in.
It is only for cleanness by being modular.
With RJ-45, you can make separate Cables for Xbox, PSX/PS2 and Gamecube.
With separate Console Cables, you can just pop on and off when you want to use.
You don’t have to do RJ-45.
Can just solder the Cable for Console you want directly to Multi-Console Cthulhu.
Between the USB Jack and the PIC Microcontroller, you will see three rows of holes.
This is where you can solder the desired Console Cables to.

PlayStation:
Gamecube:
Want all the Consoles the Multi-Console Cthulhu support?
Then you’ll have four Cables hanging out of your Case!
Just a reminder: Sorta Secret Santa Sale is still on, until the 17th of January. All trade ins worth 150%, so mail in $50 worth of games, get $75 of my stuff back. Items marked with a ‘(Pending)’ means someone is sending one in, but I haven’t received it yet. If you want to take advantage of this, send me a PM with what you’d like to trade and what you’d like to get back, and we’ll go from there.
I noticed on the lizardlick website that the ChImp board has auto sensing for which console that is plugged in, is there a way to do that with a vanilla ps3 cthulhu board and madcatz SE 360 stick? I know how to get an imp board and do that with either holding down guide or using RS switch, would be great to know if the auto sensing function will make it to separate parts.
(I have not gotten an imp board yet, right now I only installed the PS3 board and completely bypass the 360 parts in the SE stick, basically using the case only) Planning on getting the imp board but would be nice to know about that auto sensing ability.
I recently got my first Cthulhu and Im planning to simply replace the original pcb in a PS3 SE Fightstick with the Cthulhu…now the wiring seems pretty straight forward but I was curious if I can use the original wires that are attached to the start-select buttons and just put them into the terminals on the Cthulhu…apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this question:sweat:
The Imp simply cannot do autodetection, nor can the Cthulhu. If you want autodetection, you have to get an Chimp.
There’s a noticable ‘suck’ coming from the console. The Chimp sees the suckage and knows to hand it over
The easiest way would be cut the connectors off of the ribbon cable that plugs into the fightstick pcb, separate the wires in the ribbon, and connect them to the matching cthulhu screw terminal. That would take care of all 10 buttons. Ditto for the stick. The bitch of it will be the home button; I don’t know of anyone who’s done that mod that kept the use of the home button, and don’t know what would be required to make it happen. I’d suggest just shorting a small piece of wire between the Home and Ground screw terminals on the cthulhu so that pressing Start and Select at the same time activated the Home button.
I am combining an Xbox 360 TE with an MC Cthulhu and an imp board. I want to install a neutrik jack in the case so i can have separate cords for all the systems i want to use. I am planning on playing on the Wii as well, and I know you said gamecube controllers work. But when i create the RJ45 tipped cord and plug it into the neutrik jack what kind of connections will be inside the stick from the imp to the inside part of the jack? Will the usb cable be sufficient enough and carry the right amount of signals?
