The official Cthulhu and ChImp thread - Try our new Dreamcast flavor!

Sorry, I’m wrong. I had the PS2 version of SFA3 (in SF Anthology) and the PS1 version of SFA3 mixed up. The replug solution fixes the PS2 version, but not the PS1 version. The jittery/autofirey problem still exists for the PS1 version and replug does not fix it.

So separate issues. Okay, looks like I’ll be spending lots of time working on the PSX code then.
I appreciate the info and will get it fixed as soon as I can.

hey toodles, Do you still accept orders for Cthulhu boards? Just wondering before I make an order through paypal

it’s not at all difficult to do, agetec PCB is the best one to use for DC. if you want to do detatchable cables you will need an absolute minimum of 10 connections and i would use 11. rj45 has only 8, so i’d recommend a db15 or even hdmi if if you are really good at soldering small stuff. if you get stumped post the question in one of the dual mod threads and PM me the link and i’ll answer what i can.

here is the inside of my 360 TE with MC cthulhu, DC agetec PCB with VMU, and hdmi cable connection.

Sorry I wasn’t clear. I want to dual mod my 360 TE to work with the PS3. What is the purpose of the Imp board and why do I need it?

Btw thanks for making the Chtulu board Toodles. I can’t imagine all those A.M. hours you must’ve spent making it.

Imp is for switching Systems without need of DPDT Switch.
http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=179629

You do not need Imp if use DPDT Switch for Dual Mod.

DPDT Switch use for toggle between Systems, then plug in.
Imp use by holding Button to switch System, then plug in.
Chimp has autodect System, so hold nothing, then plug.

Yep. Everything you need to order direct from me is listed in the first post.

With that said, I think you’ll find Cthulhu’s are cheaper to order from one of the resellers, but if you’d like to order from me, go for it.

Looses connection when i go from the ps2 browser!

Hello,

I’m french and don’t speak english very well, sorry.
I have the same problem! :crybaby:
When do you fixed the firmware?

Excuse me, What wants to say ETA?

Thank you.
:china:

ETA = Expected Time of Arrival
I will work to fix the firmware. I do not know when it will be fixed.

Ok thank you.
Think you that it’s possible to repair this problem!

Toodles est toute divine. Donnez-lui le temps, l’ami!

It is possible for me to fix the problem. When I have fixed it, I will upload new firmware. You will then download the firmware to your Cthulhu, and the problem will be fixed.

Ok thanks a lot.
I inserted MC Cthulhu into this project.

Je ne peux que lui faire confiance, car sans ce projet le mien ne peut fonctionner facilement. C’est quand mme vraiment super!

Ca fait du bien de retrouver notre belle langue franaise.:chat:

Bonne nuit.

Whoa, why do you have an HDMI cable for? Is there something in your TE that plays things and outputs to HDMI? o__o Really quite curious…

EDIT - Nevermind, I see you use HDMI as your “base” connector. Why’d you go with HDMI vs, say, RJ9/USB?

multiple cords out of a cthulu?

i have a TE stick, with a MC cthulu… and i want to finally try my hand at a tech mod… my only concern is im really horrible at technical stuff… ive heard its possible to have my ps2 and my ps3 cable run out of the cthulu at the same time… true or false? nevermind i reread the faq… is it difficult to install the ps2 cables at the same time you have the ps3 cord installed? i.e. tight fit in the MC openings.

p.s my MC took a dump i believe. i took my TE to a tournament and let somebody use it for a match… the next time i tried to use it, it wasnt being recognized by my ps3 or my PC i checked the cables/wiring/everything and everything is in place… any idea what happened? do i need to get my MC replaced? the saddest part is that http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=220285 happened the same day =(

Thank you dogworth and Toodles for your input.

I haven’t made a final decision for what I’m going to do with the Agetec yet…

I’ll probably stick to what I know would work or leave it with the stock PCB and just upgrade the stick and pushbutton parts.

Like I said, final decision on the PCB has not been made yet but I will upgrade the joystick and pushbuttons. I found a nice FAQ by forum member M K L at http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=27126 that illustrates the upgrade process nicely!

The PCB replacement/upgrade might come down to a coin toss at the end of the day!

Having more than one cord coming out of a stick isn’t nice. Detacheable cords is a good idea when you have more than three but if it’s just two it would be better to have a single cord that splits towards the end:

With a Cthulhu you only need 7 wires so a DB-9 cable (like the one I used) is perfect as you could used the remaining wires as extra power and ground connections, which never hurts.
Making the small split box may not be easy for a noob though. Also it might not fit in the cable storage compartment of the TE but neither would two separate cords.

i am using the original usb for 360 and will be installing an imp eventually for other usb consoles. a rj9 has only 4 connections, i assume you meant rj45/ethernet which only has 8 connections. the MC cthulhu has 8 connections and the dreamcast has 5(you can get away with 4 if you wire the ground and sense wire together). the ground and vcc can be shared which left me looking for some type of connector that has at least 11 connections.

hdmi has 15 usable connections and i chose it over a db15 mostly for looks.

I see, thanks. HDMI does look a lot slicker
