Yup, wiring problem from the dual mod. Remove the connections between the 360 pcb and the cthulhu and the cthulhu will work fine. If you want to test without completely disconnecting them all, just remove all wires from the four direction screw terminals and the four direction unlabelled through holes.
You did it wrong. Use a multieter to verify the connections from the Cthulhu columns to the pins on the end of the PSX cord, and correct the ones that are wrong. Until you’re sure its fixed, replug the stick once the game you’re going to play is up and running.
nothing happens when I plug it into the pc in either xbox or ps3 mode. nothing except the home button light coming on for a quick second.
it’s a triple mod cthulhu in an xbox 360 TE stick. ps3, xbox360, and ps2. it’s with an imp switch connected to the little controls near the top of the TE. I move the top switch to left (or right, forgot) to play ps3. keep it in the center for xbox360
Hmm. I thought after your absence and you said you were getting back to answering questions. I thought you meant you would backtrack and answer the ones you missed, which is why I had posted anyway…
Did you try unplugging and replugging the controller back in? The PSX support has problems when the PS2 runs a new program, like when you start a game on SF Anniversary Collection, or run a game off something like HD Loader or Swap Magic.
For mounting the board in the case, you’ve got tons of options. hot glue will work, but is sloppy. Only use when you have to. There are four mounting holes that fit #4 size bolts or screws quite well. Or use stick on mounting thingys and zip ties. Or staples. Whatever. It depends far more on your case and ingenuity that anything else.
Descriptions of the Imp have been posted repeatedly by other folks. Link for the thread: http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?p=6246215#post6246215
Not yet. School is kicking my ass right now.
No UK based distributors yet. Bug Gremlin. We’ve been in talks and they seem interested, but havent placed an order yet.
I disconnected just the four direction screws and the direction cables from the 360 controller, and got 4.7v on all four screw terminals. Plugged in the stick again and still didn’t get any readings other than up and left.
Removed the 360 PCB completely, tried again, same result…
Sounds like a problem with the wiring around the Imp. If there isn’t an obvious problem you can see (wire came loose from the Imp or is touching metal its not meant to) then you need to break out the multimeter. Check out the troubleshooting guide for the Imp (link to it is in the first post fo the Imp thread).
Wire up one of the buttons between Down and Ground, with no wires in the screw terminals or unlabelled holes for the other directions. Plug it in and have the control panel applet up. Measure the voltage of all four directions on more time. Put the multimeter to measure voltage of the Down screw terminal, and record the voltage when the button is pressed, and when the button is not pressed, along with whether or not the Down direction is registering on the CP applet. If Down isn’t showing on the CP applet, then hold down that button and recheck the voltages on the four directions.
What’s the best way to mount the Cthulhu in a T5 stick? I was going to get those little plastice PCB mounters and stick them in the holes and then glue it to the base.
What size are the holes exactly? Had a quick search but couldn’t find anything.
Yeah…I tried that and only got confused, so I removed the 360 PCB completely, and, of course, the Cthulhu works fine. So yeah, I’m glad I didn’t bet on that.
It works almost perfectly now…only the start button on the 360 PCB isn’t working, but I’ll get that figured out on my own.
Thanks a lot for the help. I might have mostly wasted your time, but I did learn a thing or two from it.
Thanks toodles. I guess I’ll just do the Cthulhu myself, and wait to get better at modding and/or pay someone else to imp+madcatz board it or something lol.
toodles, do you still have the mc cthulhu in kit form?
i’m asking because $45 is a lot of money for one when before, i can get 2 for that price with $5 more. screw terminals are nice, but i’m pretty proficient in soldering already.
I’m also curious if i can get the kit from you directly, 2 kits for 40 is super nice on the wallet. However, the pre-assembled IS nice for 30 now through gamingnow though in case you didn’t see that Ouro.
Also, in the current mod I’m doing I didn’t need the PCB, would it be possible to simply order the parts w/o the PCB, so that I can utilize the PCB for my next mod?
