Most likely no. I’ve done 3 and they’ve all been different.
So how would you know which one goes where?
For the MC Cthulu, can you use the USB to plug into PS2?
This is how Toodles’ awesome work is rewarded, I don’t think it’s possible to make it any clearer on how the Cthulu functions:

If you actually read the Instructibles you’d have had your answer…
…
Can you use a USB controller on a PS2 ever?
You need to pin out the wires with a multimeter or any other way to check for continuity.
Toodles explains here…
Sorry guys…I should read it thoroughly before I ask
I have a steering wheel for PS2 that uses the USB to connect to play, so yes. I’m just wondering if that feature is enabled on MC Cthulu.
Have you ever used that wheel to play a fighting game? Does it even work for navigating the menus or selecting characters?
It works for absolutely every fighting game that support USB controllers. Unfortunately, there are no fighting games that support USB controllers.
The problem isn’t a matter of the MC Cthulhu utilizing a feature, but of the game supporting those features. That’s why you can’t even navigate the screen that first comes up with no disc in the drive with your steering wheel; its the games that do or dont support specific USB devices, not the system.
If you want to use an MC Cthulhu on a playstation 2 or 1, you have to solder a playstation cord to it. If that’s unacceptable, I understand.
That’s alright, I don’t mind the soldering. I’m just confirming a few things before I make additional purchases.
I have a MC Cthulhu that’s been working fine in my stick.
Today, I decided to install an Imp and a MadCatz 360 PCB as well. I know you don’t support dual PCB mods, but I don’t think the error is with my soldering.
Anyways, after installing everything, the buttons all work fine, and it works both in my PS3 and 360. However, only left works on the stick.
After messing around with it for a while, I realized only that direction works whatever I do. For example, if I insert the Up-cable in the Left scew terminal, Left works if I move the stick up, but the other directions will never work.
Has something happened with the Cthulhu? Is there some way I can easily check if it’s foobar?
Edit: After messing around some more, I’m fairly certain that the Cthulhu is broken. I tried pluggin the stick into a regular PC/PS3 Cthulhu, and that works fine. I plugged in one of the buttons in each direction screw terminal one at a time, and only left registers…
Could I possibly fix this by replacing one of the components or something?
You’re lucky it’s not a problem stemming from the dual mod. Well, 99% chance it has nothing to do with the dual mod.
You messed up your wiring of the stick. If you don’t believe me, remove the wires going to the stick screw terminals, and move four of the buttons wires from the button screw terminals to the stick screw terminals. Pressing those four buttons should each trigger a direction, and prove the cthulhu is working just peachy.
ok, I just got a cthulhu in my stick and it worked great…the first day. it played on PS3. I came home, and played on xbox no issue.
now, it’s not working on my ps3. what could be the issue. also, it took a couple minutes but I received the message of having connect an unknown USB device.
Maybe I didn’t make myself very clear in my previous post.
I removed all of the wires from the stick screw terminals, and took just one button and connected it to each of the four stick screw terminals, one at a time, and tried pressing the button. I only get a response from it when I connect the button to the screw terminal for the left stick direction.
If I don’t misunderstand you, this is exactly what you just told me to try, right?
Before I connected the imp and 360 PCB, the stick work perfectly, and I didn’t touch the wiring of it until I started getting these issues, so I’m 100% sure I didn’t wire it incorrectly. The screw terminals for up/down/right just don’t give any signal anymore whatever I do.
Yup.
Care to wager? :smokin:
Grab a multimeter, and with the stick plugged in in Cthulhu mode, measure the voltage at the four direction screw terminals. Post up what the readings are and we’ll go from there.
Loose or otherwise bad wiring. You didn’t mention what happens when you plug in the stick to a PC in Xbox mode, nor any details at all about how your stick is setup. I need a lot more information to be of any help.
I got $5 on Toodles.
Not really. I assume you know more than me about this, plus if I’ve done something wrong with just the stick it will be easy for me to fix, so I’m hoping your right here.
Ok, these are the readings I get when no cables are connected in the terminals:
Right: 3,84v; Left: 3.84v, Down: 3.84v, Up: 2.2-2.4v (it fluctuates a bit).
When the cables are connected, I get the same readings except for on Up, where I get 0v.
I assume this is bad.
And like I said before, I plugged just the stick into a PC/PS3 Cthulhu, and it worked fine there, so I can’t really see how I can possible wire it incorrectly…
Long time reader, first time poster.
First, my many thanks to Toodles. I took a MAS stick I had stored away and made it compliant to any system I could think of thanks to the RJ-45 mod. The MC is an astonishing device, and it even taught me to solder correctly after so many years of hesitation.
Second, a question about X360 usage. Has anyone had any experience with any type of adapter that can take your board to be interpreted as a 360 controller?
I found this on NewEggMall.com
http://www.neweggmall.com/Product/2004981150/product.html
The price seems okay considering I’m getting support for more than just controllers, but I’ve read the mapping and response times can be solid to sketchy. I’d like to run my MAS stick through this versus a double pcb configuration, mainly because I’m tired of inhaling solder fumes.
Many thanks in advance for any advice.
If you don’t want to put a 360 PCB into your stick, you can use the PSX support of the MC Cthulhu and use it with the XConverter PS2 -> 360 converter.
Check the trading outlet, users laugh and jinxmitchell sell the converters.
I hooked soldered a PSX cable MC Cthulhu board. I followed the directions exactly on the link.

Why doesn’t it work? It works for the PS3 but not for the PS2. I want to play third strike on the PS2.
Thank you.
