The official Cthulhu and ChImp thread - Try our new Dreamcast flavor!

i’m trying to get the mc cthulhu which is like $45

Cthulhu kits are dead, gone, fini, done for, done in, non-existent, null set, out of stock, tits up.
I dont have them, I dont sell them, I dont make them, and won’t be making them again. I don’t have some secret stockpile of them I only sell to those who ask, since I dont have any at all. If you want to get a Cthulhu, you’ll need to get an assembled one. The price gamingnow.net has is a great one, and it wouldn’t surprise me if that trend continues.

Thanks Toodles, ordered 2 Cthulhu and 2 Imp boards to the UK from there!

Edit: The imp boards aren’t assembled but I’m assuming it’s not too fiddly and if I can pad hack I should be able to build it fine?

If you can do a pad hack, assembling an Imp should be pretty damn easy.

There is a new toodles board on the way?

There is a rumor that a board that has the MC and Imp built in together.

I hear it’s almost ready for release, just a little more testing.

How true is this?

I hope this isn’t a stupid question but what would the autodetect in the ChImp do when connected to a PC?

Just to verify, THE MC chthulu isn’t dying persay, just will only be avail preassembled. I ask this as someone without the proper funds for one right now but planning on getting one by December.

It will go into Cthulhu mode. I plan on including a check for a button combination to force Xbox mode for testing purposes.

Damn skippy. MC’s are getting better and better, and are not going anywhere.

nice board, i’m getting one

Will you be including a way to make the 360 PCB active when plugged into a PC? I ask this because I liek how the guide button etc works with the 360 PCB in windows live games but the home on PS3 pads doesn’t

You mean like a button combination to force Xbox mode?

Just out of curiosity Toodles, i wouldn’t be able to order a MC Cthulhu with a ps2 cord already soldered on would I?

or maybe ps2 and gc?

The section you quoted should answer that, the button combination will force it to 360 mode in case you want to override the autodetect for PC.

BTW Toodles, the CHimp board sounds badass. Also, Kudos for making the USB holes bigger for soldering purposes, I just recently soldered into those 4 points and was having troubles fitting 28 gauge wire into it. I’m so glad I have a pencil tip iron

Hey guys this may have already been answered already and I tried to search and page through posts but I had no luck. It’s really a yes or no question but I want to make sure I do this right before I get too far and it’s tough to fix.

I am wiring a dual pcb, 360 > imp > cthulhu

I have the 360 done, imp done and I am wiring everything to the cthulhu. On the cthulhu it has spots for the usb ground and vcc, do I need to connect these even though I am using the imp?

Appreciate the help.

tetz yes, you do.

ChImp…
I like the word play, very creative! Anyways, I look forward in investing another 34594895 bucks in your boards for dual modding as usual.

Thanks for the help, much appreciated! I looked at a bunch of photos, including ecksnine and all of his as far as I could tell had them hooked up so I did it anyways, I figured worse thing that could happen is I needed to undo them

Picked up a Cthulhu to replace the fucked pcb in my Madcatz TE stick, however I noticed that the TE has no wire running to/from the home button, does this mean Im going to be without a home button (not a big deal) ?

When the cthulhu is connected to the PC should it automatically detect the stick or are there drivers that need to be installed?

I have my dual pcb stick hooked up and the 360 side of things detects fine but when I hold the home button to switch over to the cthulhu nothing.

Got power going to the cthulhu. Don’t have a PS3 handy to check there so I figured maybe there are drivers that need to be installed for it to be detected, hopefully?

Otherwise any idea what I could have botched?
