Thanks !
So I can forgo the switch and have 2 USB cables coming out but could run the risk of being stupid and plugging them both in at the same time?
pretty much. Or you could follow Bombermanās tutorial and do it the awesome way.
crap man, I tried HARD to convince Chad that he and I should take the stock we have down to EVO and see if we can sell out⦠Obviously I didnāt win that battle
Prays for next year!!!

Hey Toodles I have a problem with a MC.
The USB PS3/PC works fine, but the PS2 connection does not work. Here what I did :
- I had to put cables to the first line before having my PS2 cord. So I soldered small cables to G, A->F and V (except E).
- I used the ps2 cord and seeked the connections. Once it was done I connected the ps2 cord to the cables of the cthulu using electrical dominos :
And it does not work.
Perhaps itās because of the dominos but the connection does not work. I used the female cutted connector to see how to connect and it matches your tutorial. Perhaps I have to solder the cables instead of trying using dominos, I have to admit I donāt know what to doā¦:wasted:
The first thing to do is check with a multimeter for continuity from the end pins of the PSX plug to the columns that are listed for them in the instructable. After that, you need to check for continutiy between any of the columns, so check GA, GB, GC, GD, GE, GF, GV, AB, ACā¦etc. Make sure none of the columns are connected together. Unless thereās more to the stick you arent saying, it has to be one of those two. Just having those blocks wonāt affect how things go.
Now it is not working anymore on PS3 and itās detected as a unknow USB device on PCā¦:crybaby:
Here what I did yesterday :
- Installed the cthulu, worked fine.
- Tried to wire the PS2 cord, did not work.
- One of the cable for PS2 connection broke. I had to resolder it. During the operation I accidentaly tooched of of the diodes, the one beetween 470nf and C2. The upside is not āflatā anymore (donāt know how to explain it) but a little curved at one point.
- Since that it does not work⦠I suppose I did something wrong somewhereā¦
I know youāll tell me to test with a multimeter but I donāt have one and if I could escape buying one I would be good⦠Either Iāll go search for one.
Any idea ?
If there is nothing obvious from a visual inspection, you need a multimeter.
Ok Iāll go buy one tomorrow morning (the afternoon was to hot, could not get out) but I never used one.
Can you indicate me what I have to āfindā while testing what you indicated ?
Quick question for you toodles. Im planning a xbox 360, MC cthulhu, and imp build with a psx controller cord attached to the MC cthulhu. On bombermanās and fauxās wiring diagrams they have row 1, column V connected to VCC on the imp. But on the instructables intructions it says that if you want to install a psx cord to a MC cthulhu you must use row1, column v. Bomberman said that row 1 and 2 are the exact same but I know on a post you have said column V is different between row 1 and 2 and that psx cord works best with row 1. So my question is what is the best way to power the imp along with having psx cord without adding a RJ-45 .
- imp connected to row 1 column V and psx cord connected to row 2
- imp connected to row 2 column V and psx cord connected to row 1
- Some other configuration that I am not thinking of.
Both 1 and 2 would work. Rows 1 and 2 both go through the black diode, which is better for the PSX. If thatās all you have going on, option 1 or option 2 will do it.
hey toodles i had a quick question. When i plug in my stick to the 360, it automatically turns it on, and if i turn it off and leave the stick plugged in, it automatically turns the 360 back on again. Is it supposed to this or is there something i did wrong?
Toodles, is there a way to repair the USB jack pins (mostly the Grn-D+ and Blk-G) if they got pulled off the USB itself?
I had an accident involving my chair and a pinned down USB cable that yanked the USB jack half off the PCB and those pins came loose =(
If its unrepairable, I think iāll have to head to LL to order that tiny USB terminal =(
Imp doesnāt reselect between the two until power has been killed. Xbox360 never turns off power to the USB ports, so unless you unplug it, it stays powered and stays in 360 mode.
Yikes. You can do your best to try desoldering the USB jack, and replacing it with another, but itās not easy. I havenāt ever actually succeeded in removing one before. You do have the option of either cutting the USB cable and soldering the 4 wires directly to the columns (make sure to jumper the diode for the row you put the wire in the V column), or you could purchase an Imp kit and USB jack and I could tell you where to run the four wires to the Imp so you can use the USB jack on it.
Hey Toodles, I did what you told me and here are my results.
First I never used a multimeter before, so here what I did :
- Putted the multimeter on the āOmegaā place with 20k selected.
- made a test using Ground and trying each pin of the same line. All of them gave me a result between 2.40 and 2.70 EXCEPT the V row that give me no result.
- I tried the gamecube and Xbox pins too and as the PS line, all give me a result except the V row.
The V hole in the first line was the one were the cable broke and that I have to solder again. Since that It does not work. What I am supposed to do ? Can I try to unsolder it ? Maybe when I solder it I dit it wrong and since that connection is lost ?
Iāve managed to remove the USB jack. It was half off so slowly desoldering and pulling on it lightly and gradually desoldering each pin and moving it did the trick. Then it was a matter of clearing the holes.
With that done, all i have to do is get a new USB jack from a local store.
Ok itās fixed !
I removed the cable I put before and now everything is back to normal. Iāll have to redo the wiring of this cable but it will wait a buit as blazblue arrived today.
Thanks toodles for your help about the multimeter. Iām glad to see that you are very halping when there is a problem, Iāll send you customers.
man Toodles your Cthulhu board look awesome! mad
quick question, i only have 8 buttons available ( 6 for punches n kicks, 2 for select and start). Do i really need a home button on the PS3?
thanks dawg will post pics and feedback once i get my boards in!
Iām not using an IMP board though, I just have the cthulhu board alone with a switch
Ok guys hereās the issue. I followed Akuma001ās guide on this thread http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=183137&highlight=Cthulu and its not working. When connected to my computer the Cthulu picks up fine and the TE stick shows up in the bottom right corner when you plug in something new in the USB ports but not in the game controllers. I also use a DPDT switch. The PS3 side works perfectly fine but the xbox side wont connect to the 360. The xbox home button comes on for about 10 seconds but then turns off and if you hold the button down the lights come on again but then shut off after another 10 seconds. Attached are pictures. Any help is welcome and if you want closer pictures of something specific Im happy to help.

This is a cross post from the newbie thread because you guys may have more knowledge on how to resolve my issue.
