The official Cthulhu and ChImp thread - Try our new Dreamcast flavor!

hey toodles will the cthulhu work fine with hori real arcade pro ex(360) to duel mod it.

HRAP EX is not common ground.

From what I’ve heard the HRAP EX is not common ground. So it would be a challenge for even a crazy hacker type. I think it would be cheaper and simpler to use a common ground Madcatz PCB and ditch the hori PCB altogether.

dam alright

OK- so I’ve got the board working again and have made a USB converter for the xbox1. Chip works on the PC and PS3 with no problems.

I have tested all my wires- they are making connections.

I noticed someone mentioned recognizing the xbox 1 automatically but could never find any reference to whether or not I had to press a certain key combination to make the board work with the xbox 1.

I think it was holding the ‘left’ on the stick while plugging in/starting the xbox

Thanks! that was it!

Will this give me access to my shoulder buttons on the PS3 even on a game like Zen Pinball that apparently used analog button support only. How hard is the mod for the PS3? I plan on going solderless if I go this route.

I have a quick question. If a MC Cthulhu can easily be connected to a ps1/ps2 controller cord so it is compatible with ps2 why have so many people including pad hacked ps1 pads into their stick builds when creating multi-console sticks and not just connected a ps1/ps2 cord to the MC Cthulhu? For example zombie cpt and ShinJN stick along with others.

Frankly, I have no idea. If you’ve seen sticks work with the game like the HFS3 or VSHG, then it will, but for that specific game I have no idea. Ill see if there’s a demo of it.

They made those before the MC existed.

Seems to work just fine with the demo version of zen pinball.

I have Streetfighter anniversary stick with happ parts and a USB converter it worked in that game but when the table comes up none of the buttons worked. I added pinball flippers to the stick so good news that the demo worked. Thanks.

Just out of curiosity Toodles, did you get my last PM?

Toodles.

Modchip man has it listed that they will be receiving more Cthulu boards in stock next week.

Can you comment on this? I know you are not part of MCM, but if you know that you are sending boards to them, that would be a great piece of info to have.

I’m trying to get this stick finished before my next tourney…

You don’t NEED it, its just an option rather than having a switch on your case.

My objective is to mod my Madcatz TE and SE 360 joysticks so that I can use it on a PS3 as well. I do not need any other console support.

I am trying to figure out if I can use an assembled Cthulhu board in my sticks without the Imp, connect both PCB together and use the USB port of the cthulhu board for the PS3. The original USB cable would be dedicated for the Xbox360 only.

I am asking this question because it looks simpler in term of modification to the current joystick as I am no expert in solddering, it requires 2 cables but I can probably live with it…

Yep, that will work. Along with the ground and all of the signal lines, you’ll also want to connect the VCC (power) line on both boards otherwise it’ll act wonky. And never, ever, plug the stick into two consoles at once.

I think I’ll take you up on this for 2 boards. Are they fully assembled?

Yup. I should have plenty so just hunt me down there. Look for a fat white guy, about 6’ 3", dark grey messenger bag, buttoned shirt, fangs, and the most kick ass pair of boots you’ve ever seen.

haha nah I remember you from your trip to Vegas before. See you at EVO.
