or you can just add a diode to your transistor setup so the button press only moves one way.
Toodles, iāve finish my mod, but sometimes while iām playing, my directionals wonāt register, all the buttons register fine, iām using a stock hori stick with an Octo-gate from a T5, but iām using a dual pcb setup, MC Cthulhu and a Mad Catz Retro Stick using a DPDT switch,
it happens in both modes that the directions wonāt register they will work for a while but then they will stick and my character doesnāt move, after jiggling the stick the character will react and i can move once again, any ideas? should i just install a JLF or some cherry microswitches, instead of the stock hori ones?
Hi!
I recently picked up a MC Cthulhu kit, put it together, plugged it in the PC and everything worked fine. Is it possible to erase the contents of the chip if Iāve connected the wrong spots on the board?
Also, can I program my own PIC or is that code not available? I couldnāt seem to find any information about this.
quick question. I see a lot of people using the cthulhu boards in their sticks but I was wondering if an actual ps3 cable is needed in order for the board and the PS3 to properly communicate. Will a generic usb cable with an A and B end due just fine? Also I want to mention that I plan to dual mod my stick as well.
Gee, if everything works fine, then why would you be concerned about the code being erased?
The code is not available.
Iām curious what you mean by an actual PS3 cable; its all jsut plain USB. Any A to B cable will work properly.
Damn, I had a long response and lost it somehow.
Pick four face buttons, and swap the signal lines for those buttons with the stick direction signal lines. Pull it up in the windows control panel, move the stick around and hit some buttons. If the stick movement causes sticky buttons to show on the control panel, you know its something with the octo mod, the stick, or the microswitches. If pressing the buttons causes sticky directional movement, then you know its an electrical problem. You should be able to localize the problem from there, but Iād bet your find it has to do with the physical stick.
Perhaps it wouldāve been better to say āeverything WORKED fine prior to my screwing it upā Iām hoping the replacement chip will fix it! I just bought another kit anyway as I am already hooked!
thanks for the help toodles, i swaped the signals and it turns out one of my ground wires was loose/shortening( i have it daisy chained). everytime i opened the stick up, and checked the connections that i soldered everything worked fine and looked connected, when i would close the top was when the short was happening, so just resoldered the ground wires and reinforced all my soldering points and no more missed inputs on the directionals, if i hadnāt swapped the signals i would have never noticed the ground not connecting, you ROCK!
Thanks. I didnāt know if there was anything specific about the cord or not.
Iām very, very interested in purchasing an Imp board and MC Cthulhu but Iām trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I currently have a PS3 TE and a 360 TE supposedly on the way, but Iām partially considering working with the PS3 stick instead because I enjoy the look of the more generic home button. The 360 guide button just seems to stand out too much and kinda says āyeah, itās a 360 productā. Something like a button to replacement/alternative guide button would be quite cool. I could still quite easily cancel my 360 TE preorder but I got it at an oustanding $120 pricetag so Iām really hesitant to do so.
Would the imp board be difficult to use with a madcatz wired 360 pcb? How much more difficult is it to wire the imp to using the lock/unlock or ls/dp/rs to switch between consoles?
Iād like to use the 360 stick with a MC Cthulhu simply because I also want to be able to use the stick on the Wii for TvC and on my PS3 to play BC PS2 games, but thereās just something about the guide button that bothers me. Call me strangeā¦
Itās not difficult at all. Hacking the 360 pad will be harder than wiring things to the Imp.
First off, you can NOT make the lock/unlock switch select the console. (Well, maybe you could, but thereās no benefit over using the RS line, and the RS line would be easier since the unlock/lock would have to have a wire soldered to that small LED board instead of the main 360 board. On the PS3 TE pcb, Iām not too familiar with the setup so it may be just as easy or hard either way. Use the RS to control the Imp if you can.) Second, wiring so the RS selects the console is very easy, just a hair easier than using the Guide button to do it since the RS line just goes from 360 pcb to the Imp, unlike the guide signal which goes everywhere. Again, Iām not too hip on the ps3 TE pcb, so youāll have to wing it, whereas we have nice diagrams for the using the 360 TE pcb.
Hey Toodles, did you get my PM?
Is there a way to tell the regular Cthulhu and the MC apart by sight? Someone gave me their stick(and they donāt know what they have) and asked me about adding Gamecube to it for them, an just looking at pictures they look exactly the same as far as I can tell.
Yep.
FAQs are answered in the first post.
Mr. Toodles, was wondering if you managed to find my information
Hey toodles! Love the multi cthulhu, my stick is better than anything you could buy in the store, thanks! Did you ever figure out a way to make it recognize the xbox1 automatically?
can someone point me in the direction of trigger setup in a madcatz retro arcade/cthulhu mod please? i usually use a 4pdt when i do it and just switch the triggers too, now trying to use an imp and that methodās not going to work. iāve seen 2 sides of the solution (transistors vs hex inverters) and i donāt really care which method- just need help with which parts i need and how to run the circuit.
Is there any additional (or possibly less) lag when using a PS3 Cthulhu compared to a padhacked sony sixaxis controller when they are used in a custom stick?
Huh, I suprised I havenāt put that into the faqs.
Short answer: Hell no.
