The Official Collected Editions Thread (New & Improved!)

Umm…All-Star Supes is not part of continuity you know?
…and I find comparing Brainiac to Morrison’s ASS to be rather unfair; both books are great in their own way and very entertaining IMO.

And both of those comics are fictional stories. What’s your point?

1- I am not a continuity pornographer
2- I kinda misunderstood him, though I felt both were emotional in their own way

Yeah I didnt mean Pa died in ASS so how was he alive in Braniac, I just meant that from what I recall he is kinda like Aunt May where he has died and come back at least 10 times in-continuity, as well as that his death was handled so brilliantly in ASS that it really had no impact when seeing it in Braniac.

Also the second Bru Cap omnibus was solicited today but it only goes up to #42 and reprints #25 again. Pretty weak

weekend reading:

Kitty Pride and Wolverine MPC - This was alright, better art than the Claremont script which was the usual over-written and way too many thought balloons

DMZ vol. 6 - This was an enjoyable one, about an election in the DMZ (the logistics of which still dont really make sense, but…) I especially liked the moments between Matty and Zee.

Absolute Superman: For Tomorrow - this was a weird one. I kinda hated it, kinda liked it. All of the stuff with the priest and the overwritten religious stuff and Superman as savoir was pretty terrible, and I feel like a lot of the thematic elements were done much better by Kurt Busiek in his Camelot Falls epic (I will also take Pacheco over Jim Lee). The ending was cool though, much darker than expected.

Decided to crack open Terminator Omnibus vol. 2 after watching the movie this weekend. Oh how I wish Dark Horse could secure the rights to the NOW Terminator series…only 17 issues long, perfect for an Omnibus.

Gorath, what Terminator comics would you recommend?

Just put about 12 Trades on my home delivery list from the local library. You guys should really check it out, home delivery is free!

They even have recent stuff like “Rage of the Red Lanterns”, though I’ve already read it. I added Angel, All-Star Supes Vol. 2, Superman: New Krypton, Superman: Brainiac, Y: The Last Man, Immortal Iron Fist and Batman and Son.

I <3 the Library.

continuity has ruined more stories than it has helped.

read a story because it’s good. don’t nitpick minutae.

rage of the red lanterns is out? how did i miss that…

Its either out or soon to be released. I think they just have it up on the site so you can “reserve” a copy. Sorry for the false alarm.

… yeah, looked it up and its out at the beginning of July

Just a reminder that www.tfaw.com has an 80% off sale that ends at the end of this month. They don’t have EVERYTHING you could possibly want, but what they do have… is nice and cheap.

which stuff is 80% off?

On their frontpage, they have a promotion for their 80% off “Spring Cleaning” sale. When you click on that, you can see the different categories of products that are on sale. They have a decent assortment of graphic novels and TRADES, BABY. I’m sure a lot of it stuff you either already have or wouldn’t care for, but who knows? You might find some unexpected treasure.

some big ticket stuff dropping tomorrow including Brubaker Daredevil Omnibus vol. 1 and X-Men: Inferno hardcover (which is as big as an Omnibus). Also we finally get the last Garth Ennis Punisher Max OHC.

nice to seeya rockin’ the Goliath Avatar I made ya!

also, just picked up a copy of “Saga of the Swamp Thing” and am pretty fuckin’ floored by it.

Moore is a fucking genius.

yeah it’s pretty great. there’s also a DC Classics Library hardcover that just came out last week collecting the early Bernie Wrightson Swamp Thing stuff.

well, since I actually have a lot of that early Wrightson stuff in single issues, I’ll skip it. Besides, shit didn’t get real until Alan Moore. That man just oozes cool. It’s like he knows just how to write the perfect thing. “The Anatomy Lesson” is just brilliance.

I do want that Ferro Lad hardcover tho.

just finished reading the goon:chinatown by eric powell. very good and will pick up the rest of the volumes(can be read as a stand alone).

also read the new york 4 by brian wood. it is alright.

waiting for the umbrella academy:dallas trade and xxx holic.

was on edge of getting the swamp thing hc,money is tight, but i will get it from seeing how taichi and p.gorath liked it.

p.s. are there any indie books you guys recommend.

p.s.s is there proof that comics are addictive. they are like crack to me. gotta get my weekly fix.

Dallas ships in October, southpaw.

as for Indie books, I recommend Invincible, and Scott Pilgrim

…and The Sword by the Luna Brothers is another good Indie series.
