just read “for the man who has everything”. truly great stuff. did moore also write “whatever happened to the man of tomorrow?”
Yes he did.
read saga of the swamp thing hc vol. 1…really great stuff
I just read Dr Strange: The Oath. i liked it a lot. BVK can write a good Dr Strange, dude found Strange’s voice. It should of been an ongoing.
I bought All-Star Supes Vol. 2 HC today :smokin:
I’m still holding off for the 12-issue HC, but I know DC’s Trade game is pretty slow(they are JUST now putting Batman Hush in a TPB together). I might just have to buy them both. Best Superman story EVEEEEEER.
Eh seeing as it takes a longer time for TPBs to get here (I am still waiting for our Borders to get Superman: Brainiac), I am ultimately happy with having these 2 HC TPBs.
I can never get enough of the Bizarro stories-
“ME AM NO FIRST BIZARRO EVER THINK. AM NO HURT BIZARRO HEAD. ME AM HOPE US ALL DIE!”
just put in my latest order for a bunch of books that have come out the past 6 weeks or so.
most looking forward to JSA thy kingdom come vol. 3 (as I thought part 2 was one of the best modern trades I’ve read in a long time), Spider-Man 2099 vol. 1, Exiles Ultimate Collection vol. 1, and the ma gnucci garth ennis punisher book.
dont know if anyone noticed by a deluxe edition hardcover of Fables has been solicited. I may have to jump onboard. This is DC’s oversized hardcover line, similar to Marvel’s OHC’s (ie bigger than normal trades but small than Absolutes).
It’s funny…I was very fearful of cracking open All Star Superman vol. 2 when I got it because vol. 1 was so perfect in my mind and I had read it many times by that point. I should have known I had nothing to worry about…
i just read the firsdt 10 issues of gotham central at work. i need more
Finished reading the TPB 2 days ago. There’s an afterward in the book about how Marvel went about planning the world of 2099. It’s kind of scary the things they got right about the future, things like Debit Cards replacing cash and let’s face it we are not that far off from something like that… :wow:
Best thing about Spidey 2099 is that it’s still Spider-Man but pretty much everything about Miguel O’Hara and Peter Parker is different. Yet it still works and if you’re a fan of Spidey you’ll still get a kick out of it.
Finally cracked 'em open, eh, bub?
reading some new x-men. i hate stryker
Just ordered a couple trades. Trying to catch up.
And Ever, I gotta get your phone number. I switch phones each month, and never keep a phone book. So when you call and don’t leave a number, I can’t call you back.
re-read Kingdom Come and then Thy Kingdom Come vol. 1-3 (vol. 3 for the first time)
im still not a big fan of KC, but Johns’ Thy Kingdom rocked. I thought the ending was just a little weak and that Gog turned evil too easily/conveniently, but other than that it was a great book.
By now I’ve come to the decision that no matter how bad the ending of a book or story arc is, you can still reread it and enjoy it even up til the ending sometimes.
Just got the newest League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Art is great as usual, and the story was less action, more setting up the next two chapters. I liked it, but it felt like it was what it was, the first chapter in a three part story. I have the feeling that I would’ve enjoyed each chapter even more if it was a large self contained story.
Now it’s back to waiting for 1969 to come out.
1969? Do you mean the fabled 1963 one-shot that they never bothered to complete? Or is 1969 the next LoEG book? If so, then just tap me in the balls.
Also… TFAW.com is having a spring clearance sale. By the end of the month it’ll be at 80% off. They don’t have every single comic you could ever want, but they have a decent amount of stuff.
Next up is a 72 page chapter set in 1969.
Then they close it out with a chapter set in 2009. I can’t wait to see Modern Orlando in the British army.
I was sad because there is a very small scene where we finally get to see Orlando fight and it’s one panel. The Excalibur has a nice glow effect. It would have been nice if each chapter was expanded in certain places to get more fun interactions between Mina, Alan, and the new members of that centuries league. It’s as if they took a whole graphic novel and just squished it to 72 pages. It’s still good, but of course, as a fan, I would have loved to see more.
All right, consider myself slapped in the balls.
Superman: Braniac - short but sweet. only misstep was pa kent dying because I just assumed ma and pa were already dead…I mean how could they still be alive at this point? After his death in All Star Superman, Johns writing here is just a pale imitation lacking any of the power of the former.
Punisher: Resurrection of Ma Gnucci - Pretty good but not as out of the park as Ennis’ prior MK Punisher stuff.
