The Official Battlefield 3 Thread

Word sorry about last night. I came back and hit you up but I guess you were done by the time I got back to my computer. Shit, I just played with Pimp Willy for a bit. It sucked though because we werent on the same team. Well, it didnt suck till after I quite playing and realized we werent on the same team. Yeah, I thought we were the entire time I was playing.

I’m digging the beta so far…DICE finally got their shit together and did a console aiming scheme that doesn’t feel slightly awkward. I never cared for the other BF console games because the deadzone/startup was a little rigid vs. the look speed when things did start moving(if that makes sense), but the responsiveness of the aiming in BF3 feels great.

I think my favorite point in the game so far was clearing out that locker room that opens up into the subway hallway from 4 guys with just my G17C sidearm. God damn that shit was great.

Got a random “noob” question. Is it too late for them (Dice/EA) to change stuff for BF3? Now that the beta is out, and people are complaining about certain things, can they still fix or patch them? Or have they already been mass produced?

I really, really think (hope) that this Beta everyone is playing is from an earlier build of the game. Shit, going by what was said by someone at EA or Dice the game would tax the shit out of computers and you would need some hyper dope graphics card to run it on ultra settings. Man I had that shit running on Ultra settings today and it ran smooth as butter and I dont have some super graphics card.

Im sure when it hits retail a lot will be different and any issues that they do have can (and hopefull will) be patched on day one or soon after. I really hate day one patches because it just makes me think the developers are lazy but its the way things are now. I also hate Betas that happen only a month before a game drops, because most instances it isnt a beta but a demo. This game sure and the fuck feels like a beta. Seems like it should be what they used for the closed beta.

My hopes are high for this game but im not expecting much. That way im not too disappointing when the game actually releases and its still fucked up. So far it is pretty fun just buggy as hell.

*Yesterday’s beta announcement finally revealed the first details about the upcoming and highly anticipated Battlefield 3 beta. In the aftermath of the big news, a lot of new information and details have emerged. We’ve summed up everything we know about the beta here.

  • Battlefield 3 beta will run from September 29 to October 10.
    -There is no player level limit on the beta and no limit on how much you can unlock.
    -One game mode, Rush, and one map, Operation Metro will be available.
    -The Operation Metro map has undergone changes since the alpha.
    -The beta is limited to 32 players on PC, 24 on console.
    -Beta size will be around 2-3 GB.
    -The netcode has been re-written from the alpha trial.
    -Owners of Medal of Honor do not need the disc to play the beta
    -EA Origin pre-orders and Medal of Honor owners get access to the beta 48h earlier, on Sep 27.
    -If you want early access, you have to pre-order on Origin before Sep 25.
    -Asia has now been added to the open beta.
    -Origin is required to play the beta on PC.
    -Stats and ranks will not carry over into the final game.
    -PC beta system requirements can be found here.
    -The beta won’t include all the graphics features which will make it in the final version.

*DICE has released the first update to the Battlefield 3 beta, fixing a number of issues. Thanks to user feedback, developers have dealt with issues such as crashes, stability fixes and more. The full list of fixes and tweaks can be found below, curtsey of the Battlefield Blog.

-Fixed occasional client crash when reviving.
-Fixed killcam showing glitched area under map if your killer is dead.
-Issue with spawning on dead squad mates fixed.
-Fixed a bug where shooting at a moving enemy could cause more than the intended amount of damage.
-Crosshairs for shotguns have been replaced with a new, thinner, art.
-A subtle low health screen effect has been added.
-Tweaked scores of Medals and Service Stars.
-Tweaked the Rank progression.
-Pushing prone on console will not play the animation twice.
-Fixed loss of Squad Leader after EOR at some times.
-Framerate stability fixes.
-The 3D spotting icons has been tweaked to better match the target’s visibility. Icons will show frequently less on mostly obscured targets.
-Fixed issue with crosshair disappearing after round transition.
-Fixed issue with crosshair disappearing after trying to deploy while the countdown timer still active.
-Squad list now shows specializations chosen, VOIP activity and dead squad mates.
-Non working options in squad menu fixed: “Private” flag and “Switch Teams”.

UPDATE: DICE has stated that these changes won’t be implemented in the beta, rather, they will be carried over to the full game. DICE is outlining what changes will be in the final game — the beta won’t be updated.*

i dont know. maybe its just me but the glitches that were rampant in the first part of metro (outside), like falling through the ground, seem to be gone after the server restart. are they sure they didnt update anything?

Thats a glitch, happened to me too.

It seemed server specific to me, i couldnt replicate it on every server but some were really bad with it.

the beta is the alpha, its old code and a day 1 patch will be coming out. you can pretty much guarentee that there will be a patch shortly after as well.

Game is crack, yea theres glitches and game freezes but so what as long as its all fixed before the game drops its cool. The unlocks have me hooked on recon. Radio is broke with the pp upgraded on recon. So far game has been snipers paradise and spawn camping but im one of em lol. Once again unlocks are endless and its an incentive to keep playing

Managed to get 5700 in one round with a 29/12 K/D. Currently running with a PP2000, with RDS, Laser Sight, and Suppressor.

Anybody mess with the shotty? Only messed with it for like 2 secs…seems ok. Dont know if its as greay as the same version in Bad Company 2…that thing was awesome.

Yeah I did, in tight corners such as the subway cars and 90 degree corridors the shotgun is beast. I only tried it for one round, but I’m curious about its unlocks, including diffrent shell types??? That sounds sick.

870 is a solid weapon, I currently have ex mags, flashlight, rds, and 3 different types of ammo unlocked for it. I use it with my recon class when I need to rushdown objectives.

Bipod for the sniper rifle are so good. You do not want to be on the other side of my site lol.

Theres a fucking rifle for shotgun from what i heard.

I have got over 6k acouple of times, once going against Cawi and Akimbo when they were cussing at me the whole game. Recons aren’t supposed to plant on sites and merc people lol.

Btw we won a match on Rush today in just 10 minutes, shit was sad.

Using iron sights on bolt action sniper feels so badass. Fuck optics, I’ll pick you off with my eagle eyes. :lol:

Ive said it before and i’ll repeat what i said, Rush is easy mode. Or practice mode.

Submitted more bugs, like when tossing out kits and there’s an invisible wall which makes it bounce back to you than towards your ally.
