And you’re a faggot, so what? I have my opinions and you have your preferred gender sexual encounters. I used Rush to level up hella quick, then played Conquest after. I bet you don’t even know what Titan Mode is (yea yea Google it really quick), and if you didn’t know what it initially is then fuck off.
The level system is pretty awesome I goto my battlelog and im lvl 16 only like 30% done with recon ugh cant stop playing. 12X ballistic is sick… I use the pp to rush though with holo/ammo. Got tired of having to reload after 1 kill when everyone is squad up.

It’s fine I switched out the ammo I think that was the problem.
Current attachment unlocked for the shotguns is buckshot, flachete, one suppressed ammo and slugs. You can also put a scope or infrared scope on it. The slugs shoot far but it takes two shots at range generally unless you get a headshot.
Damn, ya’ll must play the shit out of this game. I think ive unlocked like one thing - some sight for one of my machine guns.
Well I have been playing Recon almost exclusively, it was my best class in BC2 and a good recon is a valuable asset. Especially considered there are about 100 shitty Bushwookie recons for every good to decent one.
A few thoughts:
There are a number of glitches in this game most have been addressed.
-
There is a huge section near B Mcom on the first set of stations that you will fall through the map most of the time. It hasn’t done it all the time for me but I would say about 75 percent of the time I fall through the map there.
-
There are times where you can’t sprint even if you haven’t sprinted at all.
-
Sometimes the game will not let you ADS, usually if you switch weapons it will let you ADS again. Although there are times where I just had to let myself die because it just would not ADS.
-
There was an occasion where a guy was completely invisible and running around with just a knife. All you could see was the blade and it was pretty fucking annoying.
-
Last night I ran into bodies that were sliding across the floor for no apparent reason.
-
There are some issues with the hit detection with the beta, I did not run into any hit detection problems in BC2. So I do not know if this is just the beta or if this will carry over to the main game.
Thats all the glitches I have found so far, now as for some other thoughts.
Shotguns:
I actually prefer the ex mags attachment to the flashlight. You can learn to ignore the flashlight and just shoot at the big white target infront of you. Generally for rushing, clearing rooms(which is the point of a shotgun) the 2 extra rounds come in more handy then the flashlight. Having a flashlight also makes ninja planting on MCom stations pretty much impossible with that glowing white light shinning everywhere. I will say however Dice probably needs to put some kind of battery meter in the game for the flashlight so you just can’t run around with it blindly.
I have not tried out any of the ammo types but the buckshot so I could not tell you what the best one is. Buckshot just works well for me and I haven’t unlocked Slugs yet. I am sure someone in this thread has tried out the different types though.
I do have a RDS on my shotgun but it doesn’t really add anything to the shotgun itself. You have just as much range without it and the iron sites are good enough to use. I have not tried out the ACog on it so I don’t know how that roles.
Sniper Rifles:
They seem to be well balanced despite what certain people have tried to say. One of the snipers is 3 to 4 hit kill to the body and a 2 hit headshot kill. The other is 2 to 3 to the body and 1 to the head. There is a decent amount of sway when you ADS until you unlock the Bipod. Also important to remember that there is bullet drop with the sniper rifles in this game so you have to account for distance from target and if the target is moving.
Flashlight is a completely worthless attachment with the sniper rifle. All it does is give away position and its useless consider you are using a weapon meant for medium to long range combat.
Red laser pointer I do use but I wouldn’t recommend for people who aren’t comfortable playing a Recon role. It can give away position but it makes your shots more accurate so it depends on if you want the tradeoff or not. You can easily go without it and not have any problems if you are good at Recon.
Grip is good for when you unlock it but for the more traditional sniping, bipod is by far the way to go. It certainly makes your sniper rifle far more accurate and reduces the sway. The catch being you either have to be prone or near a wall or object to deploy it. Not doing that gives it the normal sway for a sniper rifle and it basically acts as it did when you first play the prestige. I have not tried using the grip with a RDS for more of a midrange game so that may work well. I just unlocked the 12x scope so I have no tried it yet nor have I tried the suppressor. Can anyone either confirm or deny if the suppressor either hurts your distance and or damage?
Just a few tips for people who might run Recon.
Use your mobile spawn, that thing is considerably better then people realize. Generally when I am playing with the guys from SRK if they are in my party. They will wait for me to respawn then spawn on me or spawn on my mobile spawn. Learn where to place it as well, most enemy players never notice that little box just lieing around.
Learn to use a shotgun, there are times where you will have to put down a sniper rifle and it would be more advantageous of you to use a shotgun to help plant and or rush/defend MCom stations. Especially since you have a mobile spawn there are times where I have solo planted an MCom just because I can spawn closer to it then most of the other people on the team.
Spot, spot, spot. Communication is a must with Recon. Learn positions and always be active on the mic with enemy locations.
Learn your pistol well, you will be using it alot. Find a pistol you are comfortable with and use the shit out of it. Pistols have good range in the beta and it will take a few rounds to down someone. The M9 tact is very useful, the flaslight does help the pistol out considering there are no other attachments available to the side arms in the beta.
Don’t just be a bushwookie, learn every part of recon.
I miss my mortar strikes from BC2 (those things were honestly probably op) and the motion mines.
Btw no matter what if you play Recon you will get knifed, just learn to live with it. There are a ton of people just hiding in a corner or just running around not helping their team just looking to knife people. Don’t go for revenge kills/knives any of that shit, you will just fuck over your team.
I am honestly still not sure about indoor areas in BF. There are alot of choke points and it doesn’t seem like a game that is suited to indoor combat.
Just some thoughts I had feel free to disagree.
I think Assault will be my main kit I run. I like to revive my allies and heal people all the time. I will also run Support sometimes and Engineer although their role in this beta is kinda small without vehicles =/
Again, I can’t stress this enough you guys. If you have concerns about the beta you must post them in/at the
BattleLog forums under their “feedback” threads. They’re just going unnoticed/unseen anywhere else.

I’m seriously looking forward to playing the released version at HIGH setting and whatnot.
I took jae hoon’s advice on the 870. Holy God, I was blowing dude away with one shot. Since the middle part of the map is a lot of CQC, that 870 is perfect for it.
I keep trying to find videos on YouTube of the flachette rounds in action, but doesn’t seem to be any. I wanna see
there effectiveness, or lack there of…
~K.
Played this for the first time at a buddies house today. Eh…
BF3 is a game that takes a bit more then a few rounds to enjoy. Yeah me too my first match was “um, ok, I can’t even see wtf is killing me”. It’s a deep game which takes more then a single play. Download it yourself and see what it’s all about. We ain’t hyped for nothing. Unless you dont like FPS… then yeah, that’s understandable.
Some thoughts:
Bugs I’ve run into:
-Spot audio effects (the voiceover telling you what the guy mashing Q sees) occasionally repeat words
-Occasionally when sprinting my gun will disappear. Has no effect on gameplay ( actually it’s probably helpful seeing how I get a bigger FOV )
-On high lag servers, sometimes my camera will move without my character responding. That is, I’ve backpedalled on a few occasions and instead seen my character’s backside rather than moving backwards
-Sometimes battlelog invites to friends won’t register and force me to resend them.
-Shotguns in particular seem to have a slight delay on kills. That is, if I hit someone in the chest with a shotgun, they won’t play a death animation/give me kill credit for another quarter second. Haven’t noticed this with ARs and pistols.
-Sprint sometimes doesn’t seem to work.
Technical
-This game is staggeringly well optimized. My computer sucks and I still managed to run it on fairly high settings with limited client side lag.
-There’s some flaws and bugs with the system, but the light-weight client concept between the battlelog and the actual game is really cool.
Gameplay
-The maps available in the beta are pretty fun.****
-Classes feel pretty good without an obvious dominance I’ve noticed yet.**
**
-Shotguns are ass. There’s literally no reason to pick the shotgun over any other weapon in the game, as your kill power isn’t much better than it would be with an AR (or L/SMG), but you lose an immense amount of effectiveness at midrange and are obviously useless at long range. Sure, they’re solid in very close quarters when you can nail enemies around corners, but those situations are rather limited, and an AR will do the job almost as well anyways.
You’re using the shotgun all wrong, then. I’m still putting people down with ONE shot. If you’re in an open field like at the beginning of the map at medium range, of course you can expect ass for damage/accuracy.
I’m downloading the Beta now if anyone would like to play on Xbox. Gamer tag is I MicroBurst I. I suck balls at these games tho, and Ive never played Battlefield before.
So I was fucking around with the M230 Grenade Launcher, and it’s pretty cool… especially in the metro where there’s flashlights blinding u and shit, just aim in the general direction and kill, heh. But then I unlocked M230 Dart… and I was like “wtf is that?” And WTF indeed, wtf indeed. It’s like… some sort of a long range shotgun or some shit. There’s like 6 projectiles flying in a straight line killing stuff. I’m still not sure how it works exactly since I got 1 hit kills from the 2nd floor of that building at the last part of the stage, and the enemy was across the street. Needless to say, it’s fucking ownage!
Had to quit early today, had a migraine and was playing like shit. Couldn’t get any of my headshots lined up properly.
Jesus the AEK-971 is SOOO good.
sigh everyone I get killed by now is using UMP45. It’s MW2 all over again.
