I’ve been playing Marvel for a while now, and I’ve pretty much got my team down:
Jin/Iron Man/Captain Commando.
Jin I’m just really good with, Iron Man’s got that infinite of his, along with a beam assist and Captain Commando’s there for anti-air. I’m pretty good with him, too.
The problem is that I’m pretty terrible with Iron Man. I can’t really use his to his fullest, and I can’t even nail off the infinite or even use flight in a combo. I’ve been thinking of replacing him with Cable, who I think I might be better with.
Is this a good idea, or should I stick with what I have? Also, does this team have any major flaws that need correcting? Any good points?

I dunno, I’m trying to have a team with Jin as a point man. He’s pretty much my favourite of all the characters in the game, and his playstyle suits me perfectly, so he’s the reason I win the few times that I do. As I said before, I’m pretty bad with Iron Man, so if I replaced Jin with him and stuck Cable in there, it just wouldn’t work out for me.
Really, what I’m trying to go for is Jin/Horizontal Assist/Vertical Assist. Vertical assist is taken care of by good ol’ CapCom, but for the horizontal assist I could have a whole bunch of characters. Even Dr. Doom would be pretty sweet what with his chiptastic Molecular Shield. Maybe even Iceman if I’m desperate.
whats good… im new to the whole marvel thing and i want to play a team which includes strider/doom but i dont like sentinel… can anyone help me out with a substitute?
if you’re really deadset on jin then i cant help you =\ hes not very good and gets beat out alot. maybe someone here whos better than me with him could give you advice.
@Dreadz: strider/tron/doom is pretty fun to mess with, but if strider dies then you dont have as good of a character as sentinel to fight with, so your doom better be awesome.

thanks, i also read ruby heart/char/doom is a good trap team so maybe ruby/strider/doom can work?
Jin’s got decent assists and if he’s kept in back he can be a last resort with most solid pairings such as Storm Sent.
Jin is fucking gdlk with doom’s rocks. j. d+hk does awesome chip and doom’s rocks does crazy ass chip. The combination of those 2 makes one hell of a trap.
Jin has a very quick move, which is jab. Jab is 2 frames and it seems like he move comes out in 1 frame and recovers in 1 frame. So it is pretty quick. using jab can help you start off a trap or can start a cheap ass vortex. st. hp is pretty damn good, because it can juggle assist to death, and it has GREAT priority. You can also cancel it with jin typhoon. That along with Doom’s Rocks create a unpunishable typhoon, and also sets up what I like to call a random Jin Dynamite.
A few of my favorite Jin teams are Sent/Doom/Jin, which is a trapping and punish team, Jin/Thanos/Doom, which allows Jin to have a easier time to create offense, and allows Thanos to turtle the hell out of your opponent, IM/Jin/Thanos, and Team Suicide, which is Guile/Jin/Tron-a, which has to rely on DHC’s to take your opponent out.
Jin is very playable, he has nice priority, decent normal speed, and some great gimmicks, but you would have to be an extremely tricky player to learn him at a high level. My Jin is still not at a top tier level yet, but he’s coming along quite nicely.

Are all usable Strider/Doom teams. Pick one and stick with it.
EDIT: Ruby/Strider/Doom is one of my favorite Strider/Doom teams. it can be really deadly when used correctly. Ruby/Doom literally locks down the corner to the fullest effect. Simple trap is st.hp, cr. hk + Doom, sublimation, repeat. This does 5-10% chip for every rep of the trap. And Sublimation beats all that Capcom bullshit with a passion. The real struggle is trying to fight without Doom, so DO NOT LET DOOM DIE!
I’m new to MvC2 as well, so take whatever I say with a grain of salt, but I believe you shouldn’t pick a character like Strider for your 1st team. He is very execution heavy, which doesn’t have to be a bad thing if you have enough experience in other fighters. Moreover, loads of his moves overlap e.g.his dog/bird can easily cancel into a grab super. Most importantly, he lacks in defense and thus has to be played smartly. Eat one or two combo’s and it’s all over for Strider and your team. 'Cos pretty much every Strider team revolves around giving Strider the best assists possible.
For you I think it’s most important you just pick characters that are fun to look at (I mean, that is what you’re staring at the whole time) and practice combo’s and play games until you get a general feel of the engine.
If you however do decide to stick with a Strider based team, Strider / Sentinel / Doom is considered the best. But as you don’t like Sent, Cee Dizzy has provided you with a useful list of characters to choose from.
im currently using Bonerine y/Doom b/Jugg y they work very well as a rushdown/chip/mixup team but im having trouble with bone because he dies so fast one air combo = 70% of his life is kinda depressing what are the major differences between the 2 wolvies? because i think the tier list has bone above adamantium also what is a good way to punish assist with this team?
Use Jugg’ naut assist and slide kick xx qcf + P to punish assists.
Differences between the 2 - Bone has less stamina ( 137% damage vs 125% IIRC). Does more daamge, slightly faster, Weapon X when it hits an assist continues - he’s invulrenable until he comes out of it ( its in one of the old threads - use show threads from the beginning function). Can follow up after doing an aircombo ending with drill in the corner. Has a slide assist - Metal wolvie doesn’t. Dive kick in the air hits at a 45 degree angle - Metal goes straight down. Combos d+ Hp into Hp qcf. D + Mk doesn’t trip.
Metal wolverine has 4 supers - Fatal claw ( only air super of the 2 wolverines), Weapon X, BBX and Speed up - been alot of posts by shoutzula and eczangief about it
EDIT - Bone was probably higher due to his better damage and slide assist chemistry with flying sentinel. Depending on how well you rate speed up, Metal might be higher.
Also Both can tag combo. Look up the post about it from eczangief
Been messing around with Morrigan-A/Felicia-A/Gambit-A. Morrigan and Felicia have some nasty DHC combos together. Morrigans rush down is a lot of fun to play with. Gambit is just kinda there because I feel like I’m using handicap if I use thanos-a or tron-Y anyone have any suggestions?

Morrigan/Gambit is very functional. Morrigan is one of the few characters that can throw into Gambit’s projectile assist, which sets up ALOT of stuff for Morrigan.
Morrigan’s high-low game combined with Gambits assist make one hell of a hyper set up. Gambits assist keeps them still till it blows up, so that means that Darkness illusion, soul eraser, siloutte blade and an aircombo are all very possible.
for example, dash in, cr. lk, st. lp + gambit, st. lk, st. hp, Gambit card hits… goes into anything you want.
Felicia is a toughie. I think she needs a slow assist. She is more of a trap character than a rushdown character. Sabertooths projectile assist works nicely. Gambit could work too, but I don’t think that the trapping would be the same. Same concept with Morrigan/Gambit applys to Felicia/Gambit though: Longer combos, 100%'s, great DHCs, without the mixup game.
Gambit can do well with Felicia’s assist. Gambit can rushdown or play keepaway with the sand assist. Expansion may or may not do him well. A combo that could work (haven’t tried it) is cr. lk, cr. lk + assist, gambit card xxx qcf+pp, dhc into Morrigans Soul eraser or Felicias ball super. Morrigans AAA also helps gambit on defense.
The only problem I got with this team is that rouge can easily get in that ass. No good AAA. I would play it Felicia/Morrigan/Gambit or Gambit/Morrigan/Felicia. Pick your preferance.
So I’d like to use a team with Storm and Strider, but not Doom. any suggestions?
can’t think of anyone else better than tron. I would probably play, strider\storm ron in that order. The reason being is that strider has that 1 bar DHC trick, activate orbs in the right spot, get full screen, tag on the right set of orbs, storm gets a poke series+tron mixup. VERY retarded, not many characters can do that trick so those who can should, especially when you get a mixup that leads to her ground infinite on hit that builds bar back =p
Its also not a trap team anymore with strider ron, it becomes a mixup\zoning team so you need to learn instant overhead timing with tron and all the teleport crazy BS. One of the benefits here is that you get that awesome counter call with tron for beefy life. Practice instant over head timing on storm. If you can hit her consistently, the rest of the top tiers should be easy to hit.
Hey I i’m working my new team Mag, Cammy, Sent, which is the best assist 4 each one??? Also if u know some combos I would like to learn them…
Also another question, which is the best strat for team combofiend against keep away based tems like scrub, santhrax and Duc teams??? I play them Mag proj asssist, IM Antiair assist and Sent Drones assist. Thanks by ur answers
- it all depends on how strong your magneto is compared to your cammy. If your Magneto is freakishly good, then pick drones for better support for cammy. If your Cammy is stronger, then pick rocket punch for easy ROM set ups.
Magneto a/Cammy a/Sent a is how I would play it.
Magneto DHC combo to Cammy: ROM for 40 hits, st. hk (1-Hit) xxx tempest DHC into vertical cannon drill as soon as you can. It is about 80%, maybe more.
Cammy/Sent a combo: cr. lk + assist, cr. lk, assist hits, launch, magic series into whatever you want.
Sentinel can fastfly with BOTH assist. Cammy’s has a funnier timing though. Cammy’s assist hurts more than Magneto’s assist, so learn her timing.
- watch Josh360. He doesn’t really give a fuck if he get hit by cap or not. just go in using Magneto and Drones and get a hit ASAP. Duc maybe a bit tougher since Spiral counters the fuck outta Magneto. All I can say is get a solid hit with him.
Wanna play some MvC2, looking for a team that has at least Captain America. Been messing around ranked with CapAm/Bison/Doom. Any thoughts?
Ah one of my CapAm teams.
This team is solid. It relies on heavy low-tier rushdown and loads of cross-ups. If you are able to connect Dooms assist. You have an air combo or a final justice. The bad thing about this team is that there are no solid dhc’s. The only DHC that I have in mind is Hyper Charging Star DHC Psycho Crusher.
If you don’t mind having god-tier on your team, then replace Doom with Sentinel. Bison gets loads of help with Doom because of an insane trap, but Bison has an awesome DHC with Sentinel.
launch, sj. lp, sj. lk, sj. lk xxx lk scissor kick xxx psycho crusher DHC HSF then do whatever you want from there.
CapAm FLOURISHES with Sentinels drones. You can cross-up, connect instant overheads (j. lp and j. d+hk are instant overheads), make a big ass combo leading to final justice, and anything in between.
