I’ll give it a whirl. What assist type should I have Doom use? Also, I kinda want to use Spiral.
rule number 1 for a doom player… ALWAYS USE ASSIST B.
Spiral y/Cable a/Cyclops b is pretty solid. Spiral trap with Cable a is good. It builds meter well and it keeps them in place. then switch Cable out then go ham on them…
Def put cyke and doom both on AAA… 2 of the best assists you’ll find. Both are extremely versatile. Whole teams are based around just whoring either/or…lol

im really started to get into mvc2 since it came out on for ps3 but i want to use sakura in my team. after reading threads and forums i guessing i cant use her as point but asking if anyone knows of a good team i can use her in
Man that team you’re using is good! Seems solid to me for runaway players but just messed up on the assist types.
Sentinel (Y) mostly used for traps, very good with Cable but you can use his projectile assist (Rocket Punch - A).
Cable (B) since it’s his AAA (Anti-Air Assist) and it’s pretty good when folks want to rush down.
Cyclops (B) …man Cyclop’s AAA is on point! It’ll go through a lot of stuff be on some Psylocke tip, very good AAA.
If I were to use that team I’d put them in this order Sentinel (Y)/Cable (B)/Cyclops (B). Pretty much your strategy is gonna be keep away, chip and build meter for Cable.
Sentinel is tough to play with but if you can get his basics down you’ll be good. You should learn how to lock them down with d.hp, fly, unfly, d.hp; learn his B&B (Bread and Butter) fast fly combo’s and unfly. You should be good since Sentinel is God tier! Every attack he does will do chip damage plus he has super armor, he can tank! Plus with the Cyclop’s assist… he’s even more deadlier.
Sentinel stomp patterns + Cyclop’s AAA or CapCom’s AAA = God.
Cable keep away patterns w/2 or more meters + Cyclop’s AAA or CapCom’s AAA = Deadly.
Yeah pretty much… I hate Doom’s AAA with a passion, it chips like crazy!
I’ve just started playing recently and am leaning heavily towards a team of Felicia and Venom, but I’m not sure what a good third member would be. I’m also not sure type I should make them, you know Beta, Alpha, or Gamma. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Felicia should be ground (beta). That is her best assist because it zones out and it is pretty quick.
Venom should definately be expansion (alpha). That is his best assist because it is used as a get off me assist.

Doom (beta) helps them out well. Felicia has crazy block strings. great blockstrings + chip= great. for venom, you have a crazy amount of priority with venom fang. venom fang+Dooms assist = cheap shit.
Sentinel (gamma) is really good. You gotta rushdown with this team and an assist like sents is gdlk for that.
BBHood (alpha) helps, for it does the same thing that sent does, except it is a little faster…
Thanos (alpha) is the same as BB Hood except you can create longer combos with this…

Sorry it took so long. Sakura either needs tron, sentinel, or Thanos. So definately try them. in a team and see what you get
I would not put Psylocke in there. Nor would I put cammy first. Storm/Cammy/psylocke would be what you want even though I wouldn’t suggest it. So what the gameplan is just simply use air combos alot. Otg or juggle after a sucessful hit with psylocke and do Storms bnb which is launch, magic series xxx LA x2 xxx LS then dhc into KBA for some BADASS DAMAGE! then more otgs and combos. Go crazy.
I would suggest Team Kellz (thats what I like to call it) which is Storm/Sent/Cammy. I call it Kellz because Sanford plays Storm/Sent/Capcom in mvc2 and plays Cammy in SSF4. Capcom and Cammy just switched lol. You got a badass AAA along with Storm runaway and combos and Sentinels broken stomping. Just a thought.
Storm / cammy / Psyl’ has no safe DHC for cammy to get in.
SSCammy is more of an old Wong team than anything sanford ( Wong used it like 6? years ago).

sounded good in my head but i cant get anything going with them when i leave the training room and go to friendly match. is this a team worth fuckin with?
It sounds good in everybody’s head. Easy infinite, Cable, a badass AAA, what more can you want?
However what you are doing is forcing yourself to turtle in a rushdown team. Your IM needs to be sick. I mean SICK. That is all…

Thats because with Magneto, you are forced to create offense, even with Cable/Doom in your team. Magneto HAS to rushdown and will RTSD because he is blinding quick. IM has to rushdown, but he is not quick, and putting Psylocke just makes your team a punish/turtle team instead of a rushdown team like IM/Cable/Doom, or MSP, or hell even MIP.
I believe putting psylocke with IM is a lazy way to try to win, especially if you don’t have Storm or Magneto. You can definately beat scrubs easy don’t get me wrong, but against a good player, which you would find all over player match on xbox-live or maybe on PS3 (don’t really know), you will get exposed and raped for trying this. So your IM has to be on some Beats, J360, or Julius Jackson type of shit lol.
btw nice team: Magneto/Cable/Doom. I like that shit.

Training mode IE playing through arcade is not the same but I’ve been working on a team and need help optimizing assists for it and what to use where.
Dhalsim(Unsure of assist, currently defaulting to AAA), Spiral (Ground type), Sentinel (Ground type).
Start Sim obviously since DHCing into him is so limited. Openings depend on enemy since switch glitch dashes let you do a lot for instant low shorts and the like, of course if fighting Magneto being able to block or back dash is a big start, but his crouch jab is actually faster than Storm’s starting options.
Sim with Spiral’s ground assist has the most ridiculous ability to move people to the corner. If it hits someone on the ground Sim can go into his infinite to always take them to the other corner and he can combo into it both off of an overhead or crouch short. If people are pushblock happy Sim can actually capitalize off of some of it with his options.
Everyone knows that Spiral Sentinel is sexy, I have nothing to add here that people don’t already know.
Sentinel on point doesn’t have his beloved cyc nor capcom which is a bit of a pain, but near ground flight yoga blast is fair and I’m using spiral ground type during stomp shenanigans.
My main issue is it seems like against Mag starting teams breaking out of the pressure with no real AA would lead to an uphill battle, and of course Spiral and Sim have healths that leave much to be desired.
First what order should this team be played in and what other things should I look into for them that I haven’t mentioned yet? ^.^
I’m new to the MvC series, but thought I should step in now before MvC3 comes out. Now I was thinking of constructing a team around Doc Doom. My main goal is to have a a team that’s good for a starting player, it doesn’t necessarily have to be tourney level. In fact, it can be gutter tier as long as it teaches me the basics. I’ve already seen that regular SF tactics don’t play a role in this game.
So what would be a good team for me? Perhaps O.R / Doom / Cyke or IM / Cable / Doom ? Just spitballin’.
Edit: Some say that Doc Doom isn’t the most easiest character to learn, but I’m willing to change my mind if anyone comes up with a scrubfriendly team that teaches me the basics.
I would go with Spiral/Dhalsim aaa/Sent, because you need to build meter as quick as possible. Of course its gonna be tough to get Dhalsim out, but you get alot more meter to do some high damage Yoga Strike set-ups.
Here is how I see this running. As soon as the match starts, use spiral’s cr.jab which is 2 frames, and use Sentinels assist. Then back up and do the Spiral trap. Keep trapping until Spiral dies, or you have 5 meters, opponent super jumps and you switch Dhalsim in. With Spiral, do what you usually would do which is spam sword. When your opponent gets out of the trap and is trying to rush you, mash on Dhalsims AAA, because it can create 2 situations:

Trap, because of a blocked yoga blast and its decent block stun, you can reload swords.

aircombo, because of a hit with yoga blast, it allows you to OTG or even straight up launch your opponent for a 20% aircombo, or even potentially set up an air lv. 3.

Whiff, but launch and j. hp has pretty good priority, and most people try to attack after a whiffed AAA.
The corner is your best friend, when you are the one cornering him. Dhalsim is really good at doing that, making him top tier IMO. Eventually pressure with Dhalsim and Spiral is going to make them crack leading you to a 100%, because Dhalsim is a boss like that lol. Dhalsim/Sent is WAY too sexy. That shit is gdlk in everyway.
A good basic Doom team is Doom/Blackheart/Capcom, since it allows you to trap and rushdown with doom. Another is Doom/Sent/Capcom since it teaches you to rushdown.
The team to learn the basics with would have to be Storm/Sentinel/Cable, since it teaches you to rushdown, to runaway, and to keepaway. Those are the things you need to know to be sucessful in Marvel series.
