The Official and Only Team Helping Thread

Hot damn I love playing team vidkill…hehe Tho you can rotate sent/gound for BB/proj… either which way it’s devastating… team has been responsible for so many comebacks and countless win’s over anything/anything/sent…lol OH Sents on the screen… A1+A2… pretty much covers it… lol

I just recently got into this game (after years of SC and SF) so the idea of team building kind of escapes me.

I’ve been having fun playing as Amingo, and usually include Venom to cover his helper setups. But I can’t quite find a third to compliment this team, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ah yes ive watched a few videos of team vidkill and it’s pretty nasty. I’ll have to work on my jugg skills to give the team a good try, thanks.

lol ikr. The THC is so nasty. Its like A1+A2 are win buttons lol.

Soul Caliber is the shit. I wish that SC4 was as good as SC2. I would be getting good at it.

Anyway. Amingo and Venom goes well with doom. they also do well with Sentinel drones, jin typhoon, and Thanos bubble. Well that is all I got. I could probably help you with Sent, Typhoon, and Bubble, but i can’t really help you with doom. good luck man

As long as I can play Kilik/Talim any version of SC is fine by me. I think SC4’s CaF is beyond half-assed though (quarter-assed?)

Anyhow thanks for the great advice Dizzy. Thanos’ Bubble has been working pretty well so far, and is a good setup for combos into Amingo’s Vine Super. I’m pretty encouraged to see how willing you guys are to help noobs like me, as opposed to some other boards. So thanks!

Looking for some feedback here. I’ve been using Sonson-Y/Cable-A/Hayato-A for the longest time. They have great chemistry, but I switched Hayato for Jin and his AA seems to work a lot better than SS’s because it’s quicker, affects both sides of the screen which catches peeps assists.

Only prob is that trying to AHVB with Jin requires a lot more reaction time than Hayato’s A where I just cHK>Assist>AHVB x2 (still using PS3 controller atm, planning to buy gamepad next month then it’s on lol). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m open to mix and match other characters that may complement SonSon/Cable more or whatever suggestions other may have.

got a strider question. I’m attempting to build a team with both Strider and Iron man on it, but I want a non-doom assist that will also aid strider and set up his traps. I’d also like this character to be able to do some major damage on his own and yet also complements the team. Any suggestions?

Also, I wanna get my dad into this since he’s a big marvel fan. So his favorites are spiderman, (prob) cyclops, wolverine, Cpt America, Hulk, and iron man. Spidey is pretty low tier in this, even though he’s such a neat marvel character is his all time favorite. In terms of tiers id prob pick Iron, bone wolvie, and cyclops, but I don’t know how well theyd jive. out of these characters that I have listed which would be the most viable and cohesive team?

@ Yeyzor

Jin b/Cable b/SonSon y- you get a get off me assist and a combo friendly assist. Cr. hk + SonSon, AHVB X3 is less strict than Jin’s version of that combo. build meter with Jin/AAA trap. Then get Cable out, you can continue to trap with Cable/Sonson, or you can do some serious damage with that combo.

My Team is (Blue) Magneto, B; (Blue)Sentinel A; (Black)M. Bison;B. I play the Ps2 version with the tank controls of the controller. The team heavily relies on Magneto of course, Sentinel is the trap, and Bison is the Gimmick diversion.

What should I be practicing if I’m just starting to learn MSP (and MvC2 in general, for that matter)

So far, I’ve just been working on that first setup shown in Magnetros Mag tutorial on youtube.

 @ you actually naming which colors you use but that’s an odd team, never ever seen anyone use B assist type with Magneto.

MSP is a rush down team. You better have fast reaction time and good hand eye coordination to play with MSP.

Anyways… I’d start off learning Mag’s ROM and setups for ROM, learning how/when to Air Dash, Tri-jumping, guard break, puch block, DHC, basic stuff, etc. Keep doing it till it’s second nature to you.

The way I learned how to do it/learn Magneto on my own was:
[]Focus on a certain move you’re trying to learn, hit training mode.
[
]Start off slow so you can understand what’s going on then speed up as you progress.
[]Do like 50 reps (how many you want) on 1p side and 2p side just enough so you can build up muscle memory in your hand.
[
]Once you got it somewhat down in training mode head over to arcade mode and try it out in an actually in game situation.
Then just every time you see something you wanna learn just redo the above steps. It’ll get to the point that anything you do you’ll automatically react to it with a combo or something damaging, second nature. The only downfall to those steps is that your defensive is gonna be set on the game’s A.I. oppose to an actual person. That’s my downfall on MvC2, I suck at blocking but my offense is crazy. I basically taught myself how to play MvC2.

Cool man, thanks for the advice.

For Mags, basically just the tri jumping and the Rom - Those are his “things”? The other stuff you mention (guard breaking, push blocking, etc) is all MvC2 mechanics.

Your mention of the hand eye coordination is right. I dont think my hands have ever moved so quickly in a fighting game.

What about for Storm and Psylocke? What should I be focusing on with them?

And just so I’m clear, each char uses alpha assist, correct?

Yeah pretty much with Mag you should learn his tri-jump and ROM since that’s basically what you’re gonna be doing most of the time. I mentioned guard break and push blocks cause that’s just basic, learning the basics and moving onto other stuff is essential. Do a DHC rather than tagging your character out is the safe way to bring in fresh characters. If you just tag them out normally all that says is “Free” for your opponet, easy way to get fucked up with the quickness. But yeah… Magneto and Storm have guard breaks.

Yeah same here I use to play Street Fighter and the game speed on there is totally different opposed to MvC2. I can’t even play SSF4 cause it just seems so slow to me.

I don’t really play with MSP, I use Matrix (Storm (a) / Sentinel (y) / Cyclops (b)) and Row (Magneto (a) /Cable (b) / Sentinel (y)) but Storm is easier to play with rather than Magneto. IMO, Storm > Magneto since she can rush down and run away. Magneto can run away but not as good as Storm. Think of Storm as a Magneto but without ROM, you’re pretty much gonna be throwing out Typhoons xxx Hail Storms, Lighting Attack x 2 xxx Lighting Storm and building meter. Magneto and Storm can build meters FAST, I’m pretty sure you’ve seen matches where you see people constantly doing “[sj.hp, add, sj.hp], land (Repeat in brackets)”, they’re building meter, good way to setup for combos, DHC’s, etc. I can’t tell you much for Psylocke.

Pretty much Magneto is always gonna be the rush down character, Storm is more likely gonna be turtling (keep away/run away) but she can rush down and Psylocke is just for the assist since it beats most of all the other assists.

Yeah… Magneto (a) / Storm (a) / Psylocke (a).

I’ve been working on a team using a Wolverine( not bone) lead for a while, and so far I have

Wolverine A/Dr. Doom B/T.Bonne Y.I essentially have it set up to pressure like hell in corners, but I wanted to know If I could advice if it needs improvements.

I’ve found some decent… coverage… between CapAm-Y/Cyke-A basically as ghetto rushdown and keepaway respectively, and looking for advice on a third. Oh, and a potential replacement for Cyke in low-tier only scenarios ( on that note, trying to keep someone like CapCom-B(i think) or Sent out of the team ) … Basically just like CapAm as my point >.>

Been using Spiral Y/Sakura A/Doom B for a while lately and it’s a lot of fun. Sakura (dark or not) is a fun character to play as. Does anyone have a LowTier only team involving a battery for Sakura and then a good cover assist like Dooms? I was messing around with RogueY/SakA/ThanosA but was looking for other good synergies. Anything is helpful.

I actually use this team for fun. It is a big ass Wolvie gimmick team. but I would rather put in Cable instead of Tron (Wolvie/Cable/Doom) and Storm for Doom (Wolvie/Storm/Tron).

Wolvie/Cable/Doom- Basically what you do is do a Wolvie/Doom trap to build a ridiculous amount of meter and nice chip damage. Then get Cable out and use Cable/Doom to keep people out and use AHVB to punish assist. Then keep on going from there…

Wolvie/Storm/Tron- You know this guy named Mixup? This guy created xxx/Tron. He is a true low-tier trooper… Anyway I was mentioning this because Wolvie/Tron is really good for lowtiers. Almost as good as Rouge/Tron. You can do alot of cross-ups like cr. lp, cr. lp +tron, slide (cross-up), assist hits, ground magic series xxx beserker barrage xxx hyper beserker barrage gives out a shit load amount of damage. Storm/Tron… nuff said lol.

Omg i hate Cykes alpha assist. It is too fast and not good damage. I wouln’t pair cyke with CapAm at all, but that is just me…

With low-tier, I like CapAm/Silver Samurai/Akuma or Zangief. CapAm builds meter with SS’s projectile or Akuma’s tatsu assist and his multi-hit combos then gets out and let SS rape anything living.

Ruby Heart a/Sakura a/Thanos a is pretty good. Sakuras assist is pretty good with protection for ruby and Thanos has mad protection for Ruby with his slow, yet very tough assist… Ruby heart can either choose to build meter with Ruby/thanos trap or use the meter to trap. I suggest the first one because Sakura loves her some meter. Sakura might have a really good DHC with QCB + KK DHC into Space (QCF + KK). Definately try it. It could be dope…

Hadn’t thought of Akuma or Zangief, I’ll give them a try, Samurai too… Been using Cyke just because I’ve found his assist can give CapAm enough time to get in close if I space it properly, and he’s solid enough to switch in to… but I’ll definitely try out your suggestions, mostly been flailing around with Jin and Ruby lately anyways.

I’m using Cable(AA)/Sentinal(Projectile)/Cyclops(Projectile).

The problem is, I’m terrible with Sentinal, and I don’t have fun with him. What do you guys think would be a good sub?

fixed. Cyclops projectile is god awful. Sentinel’s is very good, but since you have cyclops, you don’t need it.

If you honestly don’t want Sentinel on your team, you can try Doom. Doom/Cyclops is basically a 50% aircombo. Cyclops/Doom is almost a big stop sign for low tiers and some top tiers. Give it a go.
