The Official 3rd Strike Match Vids Thread

I did know Canadian players were good before this, it’s too bad there aren’t more videos of them floating out there. At least if there are, I haven’t seen 'em. (Sans a few on youtube)

I did like Ack using the taunt to knock his opponent into the aegis though, heh.

KSK says: “K.O. Ken”

Heheheh… dragonball anyone?

yeah having only one match against a foreign player can be a disadvantage, there was very little chance to grasp his style considering he already had two really good players in front of him.

the taunt thing is pretty old, i always do it when straight aegis chip damage will kill the opponent and i have an extremely large amount of health.

and reaver, why the fuck haven’t you been banned from everything seven times over for being a retard?

Oh yeah I belive that was it, thanks!
BTW ESN, are those the RanBats I was requesting? If so thanks as well

Does anyone have any good Ibuki matches?

I dash around that shit…

Seriously, if you disagree then maybe state what you’re disagreeing on? That’s a lot more info then just “You’re a retard”, or according to epsilon’s definition: “Anyone that disagrees with me is a retard”, just saying “I disagree with you”.

This is completely wrong.

Well he is right in that Urien has some ok pokes vs. Chun. s.HP and c.MK are enough to give him at least some leverage vs. the top tier.

Chun playing offensively or defensively depends on the situation of the match. If she can gain control early she might as well start to rush since getting Urien knocked down can play to her advantage since he has no real reversal (outside of EX headbutt which is risky). Play mind games with the kara throws and then confirm to super when you have him flustered.

As for Yun, Yun is pretty back and forth himself. He really has no reason to totally play defense vs. Chun since Chun has a difficult time dealing with dive kicks and that can lead to easy combos and a full bar for Genei. You can also bait her to rush you down by building bar away from her but in general you want to add pressure to her before she can start backing you away and building her own bar.

Out of the two pokes you listed, only s.Fierce is worthwhile. It has good priority and it’s relatively damaging. But the problem is, what’s that going to counter poke at ‘high range’? I’m assuming high range = a good distance away, which means s.Fierce isn’t as useful anymore. That means his only counter poke is low forward, and low forward is slow as hell, somewhat weak, and leads to absolutely nothing. If you try to get into a counter poke match, the odds are not in your favor, seeing as all Chun needs to do is to hit that retreating limb once into SA2, and all your work is undone.

He was talking about Yun vs Urien, and that Yun basically runs away against Urien. I’m sure there’s nothing else to be said about that.

The ‘problem’ you mentioned about Urien’s c.MK didn’t seem to bother Ack, he was spamming them all over the place. As a matter of fact I haven’t seen a Urien being bothered by such problems… nor have I seen a Yun rushing down Urien outside of genei-jins succesfully.

s.MP is Urien’s meter builder and is probably the safest thing he has to do so with. It also leads into a shit load of things and is better than any other move he has for building it when knocking down your opponent. Urien can’t out-poke Chun Li though, her pokes actually lead to something damaging at any range where she can hit you. Urien cannot and even though he has Aegis to lock her down, when he doesn’t have it, Chun Li is at the advantage.

Yun players usually don’t rush anybody down anyways, they build meter and activate GJ. It’s a playing style and it’s safer to do that as Yun can get full meter for GJ faster than Urien and can activate it anywhere and be a relative threat. Urien cannot, he is stuck needing to setup for his super and there’s nothing he can really do about it.

It also seems you haven’t kept track of Ack. He has played a ton of players, known and unknown in japan and like a handful of other Uriens, the reason why people aren’t as offensive against him is because he is a good player and some people just prefer to play safe rather than go pure offensive.

Don’t take me wrong, Ack is definitely good, beating both Boss and Tokido isn’t easily done and he’s been used as a mainstay for his team. I find it quite surprising I haven’t seen him on SBO and the like before. There’s one old KSK RB featuring him, which I only have seen by bits(my discs crashed somewhere after that, so I don’t have it anymore).

But that said, having two chars that normally run/move away no matter who the opponent is, does not mean all japanese will just move backwards against a (good) foreign player. I would for example have a real hard time believing that Deshiken would not rush down Ack:P

Well Ken is a more rush oriented character any ways. He can turtle but Ken’s quick dash allows him to close the gap real quick and has a lot of good options once he gets inside.

Emphy says you guys suck.

Old but still good.
