The Official 3rd Strike Match Vids Thread

Well that’s about the most unexpected thing ever, especially in Japan where I figure they have greater respect for the work game developers put into their games. Actually I just made that up.

As long as people get to choose their character when they change, I don’t think it’s too random. But I still think my 3-character team idea is the best damnit. The number of Kens is going to frighten us all. I mean with each player having to change their character for each match, how many of them are not going to pick Ken at some point? Then the complaints will start flowing again.

They should have more respect for Marvel.

No more Yun in these ranbats…I think I just downloaded my last ksk bat:bluu:

It’s a little ambiguous from this post…are these rules a one time thing or are they gonna do it for several ranbats?

It sounded like he is going to try it just once to see what it will be like.

There is a hidden rule you guys didn’t catch.

  1. All players must have an elite Ibuki.

I swear that’s what it says.

After Google-translating (ugh) some of the comments at GVision, the Japanese really aren’t that different. Some of the ideas people are throwing around are very similar to what we’ve gone over (hell, some ideas I thought I came up with myself). A ratio system governing the characters, multi-character teams, banning of supers, etc. Based on what I could decipher, only one person mentioned anything about Ken; his comment was about banning the top 3’s main supers. Everyone else seemed to care only about Yun and Chun.

Would be nice to see a better translation, because this is a really interesting issue… especially now that we know the discussion isn’t exclusive to SRK nerds like us.

I think it’s an interesting experiment but would ultimately fail considering the amount of Yun and Chun players around.

I think its great. I honestly just turn 3s videos off now if the only players left are Yun/Chuns. And I will skip Yun vs Chun and Chun vs Chun matches lol… Dunno why its just not really even worth watching, one is the same as another to me. Seems like it will turn a lot of people off who are either new or just never got sick of Chun/Yun.

Also whoever said they wanna watch japanese Chun over Yamazaki… Damn yo. Damn. Watching Ohnuki or Tokido play is aggravatingly boring, like in the most recent ranbat for instance: Tokido is up vs a Dudley about 80% life to 3%. instead of pushing the other player and getting in there to end it with any random poke or starting to chip him with risky chips(ex Flip kick->Lightning legs or something) he just stands there and plays absolutely the same as always. Throws out a s.forward or roundhouse when dudley finally makes a move and jumps. I guess I just think its homo to watch that stuff. Not hating on a dudes skill though, I mean I thought about it for a while and I guess he just is so honed at not sticking out risky moves or something but to watch someone play that character so tightly makes 3s a game i dont want to watch.

I kinda think this is a bad idea. Chun and Yun are just very good chars in 3s, it has always been like this and will allways be this way.
People that don’t like this fact have to stfu or play another game. Of course I also hate to see yamazaki or pierrot get destroyed by a chun/yun for the 100th time but that’s how this game is and has been played for 8+ years now.
People just have to outsmart the other player and play better than the opponent and win in that way.

I have no prob with the new rules if they just call these ranbats with the new rules “fun ranbat” or something similiar like the Ryu vs. Dudley tournament but please just leave the real ranbat the way it has allways been.

Well it’s not like we can change what they’re doing so I say just enjoy the ride and see how things turn out. Pretty much everyone that uses Yun and Chun can also use someone else decently so we’ll probably end up seeing some decent play out of Nuki and Nitto with other characters. Like how someone brought up the Ryu vs. Dudley matchup…the interesting thing was that everyone played solidly even when Ryu or Dudley weren’t clearly a lot of theirs main characters.

There are already some characters that can compete often with Yun and Chun around, namely Ken Makoto Dudley Yang and Urien, and maybe Gouki (barely)
the removal of Yun and Chun would give them more chances, but would also give a lot more spotlight to characters like Ryu and Oro which are pretty good characters themselves and do well against the above character set, but always stumble into the gigantic wall of Chun and Yun which rape them almost for free.
Ibuki should be seen more often too, and arguably Alex and Necro too could make it more often. Still no hope for the bottom tiers apart from genius players like Yamazaki, but the “playable cast” could very well widen itself.

i like teams of 3 with ratios. makes most sense.
ken yun and chun=ratio3
duds yang mak urien=2
gouki necro and the rest=1

this way you can have ryu ken and akuma!

Sean = Ratio 0

KSK has been giving us free ranbats for years. If he wants to try this for shits and giggles, so be it. Stop bitching. He’s probably just sick of seeing Chun beast just cause she’s Chun. It’ll probably be a good ranbat.

Wow KSK does something refreshing and people complain…

I’m not surprised. lolz

DONT STOP WATCHING AFTER THE FIRST 4 MATCHES!

Wee Tokido’s Ken and Pierre’s Chun

Kanagawa Game Center tournament up on KSK’s site.

(Since this is not a Ranbat those unique rules he created don’t apply.)
